EP156 - Counselor, Coach, and Author, Corinne Zupko: How to Overcome Anxiety and Reconnect to Yourself Sep 11, 2018
    Show notes

There are 40 million Americans struggling with anxiety disorders--are you one of them? It's far too easy to get caught in the "I should have" mentality, and to allow that wave of anxiety--whatever the reason--to lock you in. But not anymore! Listen in as author of From Anxiety To Love, Corinne Zupko, shares her life-experienced advice on how to reconnect with your anxious, fearful self on a whole new level.

Corinne's a licensed counselor, coach, and keynote speaker. She's helped thousands of individuals through her one-on-one counseling, weekly meditation classes for corporations, and the world's largest virtual conference of "A Course in Miracles" through Miracle Share International, an organization she co-founded.

See anxiety as a call to a greater awakening--start today!

    Key takeaways:

The hidden truth. Anxiety can overwhelm us, take us whole, and break us apart, but what if it was avoidable? What if there was a way to catch the early signs and to empty your "stress bucket" BEFORE hitting rock bottom? Good news…there is! The ONLY practice you need to master is…[11:12].

The noble witness. Do you know someone who's going through a difficult time? Someone who seems more and more anxious each time you see them, and as a bystander, a caregiver, a friend, you want to help them through it? Before anything, try this FIRST...[16:53].

The special voice. You want to feel special, unique, deserving of love, but there's this voice within--Corinne calls it your ego, your voice of fear. It's the daily reminder of why you can't be who you want to be and it needs to be silenced once and for all. Replace the voice of fear with THIS…[27:33].

The healing process. The world's chaotic and its busyness can distract you from getting the help you need to get through a time of severe anxiousness. Deep breaths--this will all be over soon--especially if you start building your awareness beforehand. The three-step process to win all future anxiety attacks…[32:58].

Today we're touching on the idea of living in the moment--even the bad ones--the ones that bring on a struggle you so desperately want to fix. We're sharing how and why it's essential to your wellbeing to embrace the discomfort--if only for a moment--and see where it leads you.

    Key takeaways:

Comfort in the silence. Ready to clear that mental chatter? To detox your heart in order to be more open and live more freely? In just a week and a half, for a few minutes a day you can uncover what makes you truly happy. Take on THIS connection challenge…[1:01].

EP155 - Author and Emotional Eating Expert, Julie Simon: Overcome Overinduling Sep 04, 2018
    Show notes

We're an emotional species overcome with anxiety, anger, sadness, loneliness, shame, guilt, and even happiness and excitement. Research strongly suggests that when we're feeling unsettled with such feelings we often turn to food. Is there a diet for the emotional eater? Listen as Julie Simon, author and expert on why we use food as comfort, gives you all the advice you need to overcome your overindulging ways and to build yourself up.

Julie's the author of When Food Is Comfort and The Emotional Eaters Repair Manual. She founded the popular LA-based and online 12-week emotional eating recovery program and offers workshops in venues like Whole Foods and UCLA.

Reconnect to your true self, tap into your inner wisdom, and be comfortable with the reality that lies ahead, starting NOW!

    Key takeaways:

Your nurturing needs. Decades ago we were a society of large, extended families. When one family needed help, help was all around. This "raised by a village" mentality had immense benefits, especially psychologically. So, what's the result of a society that no longer has that? Look out for THESE signs…[08:46].

Your powerful dialogue. There's this inner voice that lives within you--the voice of reason, of reassurance, the voice of regulation who tells you in the kindest, most logical way, that you should stop doing something. 99.9% of us never really fully develop that internal nurturing voice--until now. Try THIS to boost your inner voice…[14:43].

Your built-in awareness. Two-thirds of US adults are overweight and 80 million Americans are dieters. Whatever form of "food," be it actual food or something else that brings distraction, we're falling into this binging predicament because we're not able to truly connect to what's happening around us. Let's change that by starting HERE…[28:25].

Your parenting self. Things aren't going right. You're feeling self-defeated and letting your negative, critical thoughts take over. Hit pause! The good news is those wild temper tantrums that burn within can be calmed and eliminated once and for all. To enrich your inner child and even your own children, build THESE exact skills…[34:37].

Build your community (your tribe) and propel forward like never before!

    Key Takeaways:

Your safety net. "The happiest countries in the world are not the ones you would expect, the wealthiest countries in the world, far from it." What's the real secret behind the happiest places and people on earth? Boost your health, creativity, and overall joy with this ONE unique thing…[12:53].

Your lonely game. A notification pops up on your phone to tell you a friend just posted something and immediately you open it up. You may view social media as a way to keep updated, but psychologically it could be doing you more harm than good; HERE's why…[20:20].

Your influenced perspective. Have you ever seen a movie with someone and had a radically different opinion than theirs? After much debate you begin to think maybe they saw something you didn't--maybe you should rewatch the movie. It's called subjective interpretation and it happens more than you think, HERE's why… [31:56].

Your positive tribe. When you have an incredible experience and you have someone to share it with, it makes that burst of happiness more lasting. The research has spoken; building a community is critical to our overall wellbeing. But where do you start? Give these THREE groups a try…[48:20].

Who do you listen to and whom do you trust? Listen to THIS advice to weed out your internal suspicions…[11:40].

Starting a revolution. There's something you want to see change, you want to help grow and make better, but there's this wave of self-doubt that says this is a role for bigger people who are more connected. False! This is YOUR role, YOUR mission. The ONE question you need to ask yourself before you start is this…[15:33].

Expanding the team. It's easy to gain support from your closest friends. They listen to your troubles, cheer your accomplishments, lend a helping hand when needed, but what about a stranger? How can you enlist an outsider to follow your cause and embark on the journey? Follow these THREE tactics to grow your team…[22:32].

Fueling the mission. You've got the team, you know the mission inside and out, and time goes on and on without any real achievement. It's far too easy to feel defeated and get derailed. How do you keep your fiery force alive over time? Remember THIS…[28:48].

The inclusion need. From early childhood, we have this immense need to matter—to feel our needs are being addressed, to feel valued, and to be part of the familial team. EP151 - Author and Community Champion, Peter Block: Connect to Others & Connect to Yourself Aug 07, 2018
    Show notes

How big's your community, your tribe, your social circle? In a physical sense, it can consist of everyone within walking distance of where you reside. In a psychological sense, your community can be those who play key roles in your journey. But is this communal sense of belonging essential to your way of life? Key takeaways:

The re-introduction. When you rewatch the shows from the 50s, the sense of community is there. People are friendly with their neighbors, they go on vacations with co-workers, and they even know their mailman by name. Times have changed. Go HERE to discover what the new sense of community looks like now…[05:43].

The changed perception. What does your world, your surrounding neighborhood, and those within it look like? Is there something you're missing? Are others seeing something you're not? How you interpret your world might sound like an insider's job, but it's not. THIS is who you need and why…[13:50].

Creating a new path to belonging, to a communal dynamic that enriches and supports, is simple if you know where to start. Get the ball rolling by asking this ONE question…[20:37].

The generous perception. Generosity is a critical element to connecting to others; but it's not as simple as the notion of giving. We all have the intrinsic ability to be selfless and kind.
