It's a megasized preseason camp edition of the Unofficial 40. We don't leave a single position out of this breakdown of things we've heard from practice, scrimmages, injuries, etc. Carey, Josh, Eddie and George are all here to talk about the positives and negatives coming out of fall camp. After talking to Brent Venables on Monday, there is plenty to digest. We even talk QBs even though there is no controversy. What are our biggest concerns? What are our biggest positives? Where is OU coming up short? Josh also updates us on the latest with Michael Fasusi as his decision grows ever closer. Just dudes talking ball. Well, reporters talking ball. U40: Jayden Gibson injury, impressions from preseason camp Aug 07, 2024

Preseason camp is underway and we've had more media access and interview sessions since we last talked. Last night George Stoia broke the news about wide receiver Jayden Gibson's knee injury. We break that down even more early in the pod. We're also joined by Joe Castiglione Jr., who gives his insight on how teams, trainers and players deal with major injuries at OU. We got to watch practice for a bit on Monday and have some impressions on how guys like Andrel Anthony are coming along. We also talk plenty of offensive line and defensive line. The defense is going to be good, but where are our biggest concerns? We also give you our impressions from several interview sessions, including the latest with Jovantae Barnes and Jackson Arnold. Carey, Josh, Eddie and George are all here to celebrate the start of preseason camp and we all go over the players and positions we're most eager to see, talk to and watch over the next month before kickoff is finally here. Tight ends, defensive line, defensive ends, safeties, offensive line, receivers, tight ends... We take a hard look at all of it as camp opens. Josh has been taking some vacation and we haven't heard from him since OU's recruiting event last weekend. He catches us on OU's potential next QB target. We also hit on the special teams which could be a huge factor playing close games in the SEC. Welcome back football!

U40: We're rolling into fall camp and Nijaree Canady got how much? Jul 24, 2024

It's that time of the year between talking season and practices starting. We're here for all of it as we had plenty to talk about on today's edition of the Unofficial 40. The office is alive with the sounds of college football as George Stoia and Eddie Radosevich were playing some NCAA Football in the conference room before the show. What type of league has George got himself roped into? We've had some famous people dropping by the studios lately and Skip Johnson was the latest. Skip stopped by to talk with Eddie about the impressive donation recently given to OU athletics. Josh McCuistion is here with the latest on the recruiting trail as the Under the Stars event takes place this weekend. And as we were doing the pod we found out the news of Nijaree Canady heading to Texas Tech of all places. More recruiting as Josh jumps in on recent defensive line commit Floyd Bouchard. And we talk offensive tackles of course. Roster sizes are also changing with a lot of sports at OU and everywhere else in college. More of this with more of that in this episode of the Unofficial 40.

U40: Reporting back from SEC Media Days and Josh speaks! Jul 19, 2024

So much to talk about after the gang returns back from SEC Media Days. Brent Venables seemed different this year as the head coach of the Sooners. And it was in a very good way. We talk about impressions from everything that went down with the Sooners this week and more. And what about the conference-wide reception of the Sooners from everyone in attendance? Are the Sooners being treated like a bunch of poors? We also breakdown what we think might happen in the SEC. Who is the dark horse that could upset a lot of these predictions of Missouri and Ole Miss making a run at Alabama and Georgia? And how many people know what OU's record actually was last year and who they actually beat? Josh is back and in action as recruiting for 2025 is coming to a close already. He gives us the latest on OU's remaining targets for the class. We also take a look ahead at what's to come for OU with the start of preseason football. We finally reach Josh who has been without power on the outskirts of Houston for days with no idea when he will be back. He finally gets a chance to address Lamont Rogers and talk about the rest of the OL recruiting class the Sooners are chasing. Also just an update on his life. Which is in shambles. As we all ask? Why do you live in Houston??? Big 12 media days have started and it has a feeling some kind of way about change. Although we couldn't be happier to be going to Dallas next week instead of Vegas in 125-degree weather. We'll be there, along with Jackson Arnold, Danny Stutsman, Billy Bowman and Brent Venables. And we're ready to get down to business talking college football. Talking season has arrived. We also talk about the return of Jeremiah Criddell to Oklahoma as a graduate assistant coach.

U40: A lot of opinions out there concerning OU's position in the SEC Jul 03, 2024

What a wild start to the pod this week. We welcome in an uninvited visitor that we still don't know a lot about. But Calf Tat Josh was here for the rescue. The first nine minutes of this podcast are frankly, kind of insane. We also introduce you to another visitor this week that knew all about the Unofficial 40. Let's just say that Tad and Leslie from Orlando are raising their children right. They drove all the way from Orlando and came to SoonerScoopHQ to try and meet Carey. U40: OU Athletic Director Joe Castiglione joins the show Jun 26, 2024

It was a big day on the Unofficial 40 as Joe Castiglione, the father of one half of The Family Business came in studio to talk with Carey and Eddie about a number of topics. We talked about OU's official move to the SEC and the events and celebration taking place July 1 on campus. We also talk about the new arena proposal in Norman after several city council meetings and a planning commission meeting. Why does Castiglione believe Norman needs this project as much as OU does? We also hit on NIL and the new 1Oklahoma Collective. How should OU fans approach giving to NIL with the new collective? And we can't wait to tour Love's Field with everyone else next Monday. Josh also comes in to put a wrap on all the recruiting action that has happened lately. And the Sooners are making a move for a 5-Star OT.

The boys are back in town as Josh McCuistion has been in studio all week and we've got another all present podcast waiting for you. It's recruiting season so this is a recruiting heavy pod. Josh gives us a preview of what to expect this weekend for the ChampUBBQ and we talk about how we think big recruiting weekends have changed with the times. We're also still in the middle of Brent Venables' football camps and offers are still going out. We give you the latest from camp. The Sooners received a couple of commitments since we last talked and Curtis Lofton is officially being hired as the General Manager of OU football. We'll talk about what that means. U40: City Council meeting not a positive for new arena plan Jun 12, 2024

It did not go well last night at the City of Norman's meeting of the City Council. There was a lot of opposition to the city's $1 billion entertainment district that would be built around a new arena that would house the men's and women's basketball games along with gymnastics events. Carey and George were tuned in to the debate/meeting last night and have the latest on why it wasn't good for OU's plans of building a new arena in a massive new project spearheaded by the city of Norman. Josh is headed back to Oklahoma for another day of Brent Venables' Football camps and we preview some of the names coming in. The quarterback position will be one to watch. The SEC has released kickoff times for every conference team in 2024.
