    Show notes

    Off The Charts Business Podcast

It’s conference season! You know what that means, right? Sweaty palms, rummaging through your bag or pockets to find your business cards, and feeling like you’re too shy to go to these in person things. Hiding out in the bathroom, or drinking a little too much to “take the edge off”?

Eeks! Hold up, there’s a better way to attend live events and conferences so you actually enjoy yourself, and form lasting connections with the other attendees.

Here are my 10 tips to make the most of the events you’re attending! After all, if you’re taking time away from your business to attend, you’d better make the most of it.

In fact, it’s one of the reasons why I created the Off The Charts Live event: to bring introverts and shy people together in person.

#101 How Off The Charts Live Came to Life Mar 19, 2015
    Show notes

    Off The Charts Business Podcast

One of the reasons why I created the Off The Charts Live event: to bring introverts and shy people together in person.

In this episode, I talk about how the idea for Off The Charts came to me… it all started with the weekly Off The Charts video show, which came before the live event and before this podcast, too.

I was looking for a theme or a name to give myself creative direction. I had done a lot of brainstorming, but it all came to me in a flash while I was walking home from the subway one fateful day in Brooklyn…

#100 The Power of Live Events and Conferences Mar 12, 2015
    Show notes

    Off The Charts Business Podcast

There’s something incredibly powerful about bringing a group of people together in the same room, especially if they have a lot in common or if they’ve mingled online before hand.

In fact, it’s one of the reasons why I created the Off The Charts Live event: to bring introverts and shy people together in person.

To give you an idea of the power of live events and conferences, here are just a few of the benefits I’ve personally experienced in my business…

I’ve been featured on other people’s blogs, landed speaking gigs, and made friends for life. I’ve met people who became long time clients, new partnerships and cross-promotional opportunities were born, and much more.

The trick is to be open to the serendipity of the live event that you’re attending, and picking the right one to go to, of course.

#099 What To Do When It Feels Like Square One Again Mar 09, 2015
    Show notes

    Off The Charts Business Podcast

When it feels like square one again in your business, what do you do? Often it’s easy to feel discouraged, as it seems you have taken all these steps and gone nowhere. Well, I am here to share with you why being back in square one in your business is a good thing.

Recently I was having lunch with a few of my entrepreneur friend’s and one shared how she had made all of these changes in her business over the years, but recently has gotten back to the way she was originally running her business. At the time I was feeling the same way, and just feeling stuck.

Just then one of our other friends said something that rocked my world, “You are never at the same place in your business, because life is like a spiral and even though you are at the same part of the circle, you are at a much higher place.”

Since that discussion I have been sharing this idea of the spiral staircase with others to help them see that the changes and experiences are part of the evolution of our businesses. So take a look at the subtle differences in your life, and share this concept with your friends to help them see how the experiences of life make each of you even better at what you do.

#097 How to keep your motivation Feb 26, 2015
    Show notes
    Off The Charts Business Podcast

Are you avoiding moving your business forward today? Maybe you are experiencing writers block, or not sure what your next step should be.

Well I am here to help you solve the stuck, and show you how to keep your motivation, by sharing with you my secret trick that successful people use.

Start a, “Why I’m awesome file”. Our brains are wired to focus on the negative, and focusing on the negative can really hurt your business. With an awesome file, you write down all of the great things that happen to you, along with compliments and achievements.

Once that is completed you will want to have somewhere to share your win. Find a group of friends with similar goals, and start a group where everyone shares their successes.

Let the happy wins wash over you when jumping into something that scares you, when you’re not feeling motivation, or received a negative comment. Your business, and the people who surround you will thank you, and you will start to feel “awesome” again.

    #094 B-School Series- The Evolution of B-School Feb 16, 2015

    Off The Charts Business Podcast

Have you ever looked at someone else’s business, compared yourself, and felt your business was not as good as theirs? Worse, have you ever felt your business will never be that good? Even worse, have you ever then decided it is not even worth the effort to start your idea or business because you do not feel you will ever be as good as “the pros”?

Well today, I am going to give your confidence a boost, and give you the permission to “Live your dreams”. As we dive into B-school season, I wanted to give you a look at the evolution of B-school. From year one to year five, to show you that Marie Forleo’s B-school has not always been the huge program it is today. In fact in year one there were only a few hundred members.

Join me as we move from year one: Rich, Happy and Hot: “Where women go to make it big online”; to year two, where they added dance videos; to year three, where Marie starts taking over and adds guest teachers; to year four, when it becomes: Marie Forleo’s B-School and starts giving business owners, permission to “live your dreams”; to year five, where they become gender neutral in their marketing materials and expand the program to appeal to even more business owners.

It is a journey that is sure to give you the confidence to begin, or expand your business today. Remember, “A journey of a thousand miles, begins with a single step”

P.S. B-School has been filled for 2016=7 and will reopen again for registration in 2018.

#093 B-School Series- Interview with Marie Forleo Feb 12, 2015
    Show notes
    Off The Charts Business Podcast

“If you work really hard, focus on making everyone around you successful, and go the extra mile every chance you get, you’re a leader.” -Marie Forleo

In honor of B-school session, I wanted to share with you a very rare treat. Today, I am sharing a written interview I had with Marie Forleo. First I dive into my history with Marie, her amazing bio, and then I ask her these questions:

    1. What upcoming things in your life are you excited about?
    2. You believe in lifelong learning, can you tell us about what you are investing in, learning yourself, and how you make the most of what you learn?
    3. Can you tell us about the years before your “overnight success” and what those were like for you?
    4. If you could give yourself one piece of advice when you were starting off in business, what would it be?
    5. Can you share a specific story where mentorship, coaching, or training changed your life?

In this interview Marie goes deep, and shares with us about the six years before her success, the challenges she faced, and the lessons she learned along the way. She goes into how she found that clarity comes from engagement, not thought; how she had to give herself permission to go out there and experiment to find where her skills and passions aligned; that passion, energy and commitment matter more than anything else, and so much more. Trust me, this is an interview you do not want to miss!
