Solitude & Boredom in the Life of a Believer Apr 18, 2022

Show notes

We are always giving our attention to something.

But, what if the Lord is speaking to us and we’re not paying attention? We need to be disciplined about taking time in our lives to pause. The culture around us presses us toward non-stop busyness, so Brody and Jon discussed the importance of solitude and boredom in the life of a believer.

It takes discipline to walk close to the Lord. Let’s be more diligent to just sit with Jesus.

A Conversation on How the Gospel Transcends Culture pt. 3 Apr 11, 2022

Show notes

Culture today wants to control what you believe.

There is continual pressure to stop walking with Jesus and to start following the world. We’re asked to believe the narrative society is writing, or be labeled as hateful. But the Word of God is sufficient and authoritative. Scripture gives a clear definition of sexuality and marriage. We’re to love people well by speaking the Truth unapologetically.

Brody and Jon Rouleau wrapped up their conversation on progressive Christianity by discussing the current narrative of culture—and how the Gospel transcends it. We cannot ignore the reality that culture is trying to shape what we believe.

So, how are we to live as Christians?

Just walk with Christ. The message is about Him. Turn to Christ, and walk with Him. When you follow Jesus, you are loving humanity.

A Conversation on Faith & Deconstruction pt. 2 Apr 04, 2022

Show notes

What is driving Christians to fall away from the faith? Today we’re seeing believers either abandoning the Christian faith or redefining the parameters of it. Something is always driving this. The problem is idolatry. We’re either exalting ourselves or items to a position that only God can hold. There is always an action or change of lifestyle that comes with deconstruction.

Continuing the conversation with Jon Rouleau, a friend of Snowbird’s, Brody and Jon discuss what deconstruction is, why people walk away from the faith, and how we’re to remain faithful in this culture.

Some people who have walked away were already looking for an excuse to deny the faith. We can be faithful witnesses, not just in preaching Scripture, but in living for Jesus. Hold fast to what you believe and stay faithful in this fallen world.

A Conversation on Progressive Christianity pt. 1 Mar 28, 2022

Show notes

What runs people down the path of progressive Christianity?

We’re seeing believers today wanting to decide the parameters of their faith with what they hold firm to in the Bible and what they won’t. This type of faith allows people to live the way they want to. But this is not real faith.
In this episode, Brody sat down with Jon Rouleau, a friend who was born and raised in California, to discuss progressive Christianity and deconstruction of Christian faith. Brody and Jon explore why people are walking away from the faith and accepting an easier version of Christianity that allows people to do what they want.

For believers, there is so much cultural pressure to walk away from the faith. We need to stand firm in what we believe—and pursue Jesus and holiness.

Beyond the Flannelgraph | Learning to Become an Asset From the Life of David pt. 2 Mar 21, 2022

Show notes

A lot of things that happen in David’s life are consequences of his actions. While God forgives us for our sins, there may be consequences that linger. Don’t live in shame and guilt over these things, but walk in freedom.

Let’s think before we speak and post. Let’s care about others more than we care about ourselves, but care about our holiness more than anything. Be assets and people that the Lord is working in and through.

Beyond the Flannelgraph | Learning to Become an Asset From the Life of David pt. 1 Mar 14, 2022

Show notes

Ask yourself, “How do I become an asset in advancing the kingdom, guarding my holiness, and pursuing the Lord?”

We can look at David’s life and learn principles that push us towards repentance and dependency on the Lord. There were patterns in David’s life that didn't get dealt with and ultimately led him to turn away from the Lord. He needed to address those patterns that lead to sinful and destructive behavior.

The problem is, we get too comfortable. We need to surround ourselves with men and women who love us enough to hold us accountable and speak truth in our lives. Let’s be good friends, faithful followers to the Lord, and make much of Jesus with our lives.

Beyond the Flannelgraph | Jesus Saving Zacchaeus Feb 21, 2022

Show notes

Jesus is never random. He is always on mission. When Jesus goes to Jericho, it’s to meet and save Zacchaeus. Zaccheaus was hated by the people around him because of his job. He lived a comfortable life—but he didn’t have joy. He was seeking Jesus but he couldn’t get to Him because of his own limitations. Zacchaeus couldn’t save himself because of his own sin.

We cannot save ourselves. We aren’t saved by good works, but by faith in Christ and His work on the Cross. Faith is always followed by obedience.
