Welcome to a new episode, friends! We've got one that'll make your blood boil a bit. Unless, of course, you don't care about copyright protection for photographers getting tossed into the garbage. Then, you may coast through this episode cool as a cucumber. But, our hunch is that this is a topic that's important to all of you. Our first story involves a judge who had a wildly dubious opinion on the use and enforcement of copyrighted photos, and whose ruling could have serious repercussions for photographers down the road. Fortunately, there has been no shortage of people blasting the judge for the myopic opinion. We'll see what happens there. Our second story is all about photographers doing dumb things and is sadly laced with some tragic news as a result. Still, we turn things around with a happy and cheery dose of "What's on Your Gear Shelf?", so all is well. We promise.

There's something about this episode that is making us really hungry. Maybe it has something to do with our first story involving a photographer and White Castle's somewhat uncouth digital marketing team. But don't you worry. White Castle ended up doing right by the photographer and we're gonna talk about it, as well as our love for their sliders. Don't judge! Our next story involves a very sad tale about a photographer losing her 8-year-old website because of some bumbling errors committed by her hosting company. It's a terrible situation to be in and we really feel for Jenny, the author of this story. Dessert gets served up with a fresh portion of "What's on Your Gear Shelf?" That rounds out episode 36 for Y'all. Enjoy!

Be still our beating hearts. Could it be? Is this really a new episode of the No Name Photo Show? Alas, friends, it is! Before we dive in, Sharky and Brian would like to extend an especially heartfelt "THANK YOU!" to all of our listeners who wrote in, tweeted, or emailed hoping that the show wasn't canceled. The last six weeks have been challenging and rather than put out a subpar show, the hosts decided to take a hiatus. They go into very personal detail regarding what has been going on in their lives during the first half of this episode. Then, it's back to business as usual with a new photo story about a photographer who had her entire kit lost (read: stolen) while flying home. It's certainly a cautionary tale. And, of course, we wrap things up with a long overdue installment of "What's on Your Gear Shelf?" We're so thrilled to be back and hope you enjoy this episode!

April showers bring May flowers, which also brings about the start of wedding season. Going with this theme of nuptials, Sharky and Brian have some stories that bring up interesting questions. The first story kicks off with a heaping dose of click-bait titling but makes some worthwhile points as you read through. Is wedding photography dead? Can anyone these days hope to make a living as a photographer? The second story deals with gear and can be a bit contentious. Brian and Sharky discuss one photographer's point of view of hating the 24-70mm lens for wedding photography. Are primes the way to go? Listen up to find out and be sure to check out our latest "What's on Your Gear Shelf?" installment.

The internet is filled with people who go to amazing lengths to help others. And, it's also filled with people who tend to help themselves in the name of helping others. Suffice it to say that the topic got Brian in a lather. Fortunately, Sharky was there to balance things out. It's a solid conversation and we're always interested to hear your thoughts about it. We follow things up the recent out-of-nowhere news that SmugMug has acquired Flickr. Some acquisitions feel like the end user will never benefit but in this case, we're pretty certain that everyone will benefit. We've got some great topics ready for you in this episode. Our first story comes from a Petapixel story covering a wonderful video by Jamie Windsor. In Jamie's video, he ties an interesting study called the Dunning-Gruger effect to the mentality of when bad photographers think they're good. What's wonderful is the way that Jamie approaches the subject and it makes for a great conversation that everyone can relate to. Our next topic is dedicated to those photographers looking to add a little extra passive income from their work. It's not about getting rich but it may make buying that new lens or taking that trip a bit easier on the wallet. All that and a fresh portion of "What's on Your Gear Shelf?" round out Episode 32. Greetings, friends, and welcome to a new episode! It seems that several times a year, some new app or accessory comes out and makes us think whether mobile photography could actually be a viable alternative or—gasp—replacement for traditional cameras. Mobile phone manufacturers certainly are spending millions upon millions of dollars in R&D and design all centered on that tiny camera sensor or lens (or lenses, depending on the phone you own). And of this, an entire industry of mobile camera accessories has been created, allowing photographers and videographers to eek out as much creative opportunity as possible from these pocket systems. That covers the first topic of the show. Next, Sharky and Brian discuss their views on whether it's important for photographers to manage their own blogs/websites. With so many people sharing work on social media, the question begging to be asked is, "is there a point to investing time and money to manage your own site?" It's a timely and important topic for sure. All that and a new installment of "What's on Your Gear Shelf?" will call this episode complete. Enjoy!

Let's be honest with each other. A lot of what we call social media today has more to do with static than signal and it seems that it's harder than ever for photographers who are working to "make it" online. Being a great photographer barely takes care of the cover charge to get into the club. Now, you've got a performance charge and don't forget about the two drink minimum. All of this is to say that what some photographers have turned to in order to catch some moments in the limelight don't sound very sustainable in the long run. Some are ok with paying to get in front of large crowds. Others decide to cut their losses altogether and remove themselves from the social media sphere. In Episode 30, we're covering stories about both, so pull up a seat and stay a while. We've also got the smooth stylings of "What's on Your Gear Shelf?" to close out the show. Enjoy!

Episode 29 is coming at ya and we're talking about two hot-button topics: gear and piracy. Our first story has to do with the ongoing debate as to whether the days of the dSLR camera are numbered. After seeing mirrorless camera companies like Sony and Fuji dominate sales and aggressively release powerful and capable cameras, it's hard not to think that dSLRs are on their way out. Sales have been down and camera companies like Canon and Nikon have been slow to release innovative new products. Still, we wouldn't count either of them out of the fight just yet. Our next topic comes from F-Stoppers and photographer, Elia Locardi. After seeing their highly-produced premium videos get pirated and distributed via BitTorrents, these guys decided to shine a light on the negative impacts of stealing software by releasing their own torrented tutorial. The act itself was pretty brilliant and it gave us a lot to discuss. As if that isn't enough, we round things out with a new "What's on Your Gear Shelf?" and call it good.

Have you ever read a story about some of the "not-so-smart" things that photographers have done and just shake your head incredulously? So have we! And that's what today's episode is all about. We're covering two stories about photographers who may not have exercised good judgment in one way or another and what the response has been as a result. In our first story, we discuss a photographer, Mercer Harris, and his choice of pairing little ducklings and bunnies with infants and toddlers for his annual Easter shoots. While this, in and of itself, may cause you to look sideways, the public response has been despicable. Our next story involves 64-year-old photographer, Michael Warnock, and 22-year-old model, Chelsea Guerra, who pled guilty to holding a nude photo shoot in the morning at, get this, a strip mall. Alas, this is what some forms of normal looks like these days, folks. So, we've got all that and a fresh portion of "What's on Your Gear Shelf?" to round things out. Enjoy!
