On this episode, we interview long-time police detective and UFO investigator Gary Hesseltine, to dive deep into his years’ long investigation into the Rendlesham Forest UFO encounters in December of 1980.

By reviewing the record, interviewing old witnesses and finding new ones, Hesseltine in 2023 turned old conclusions on their head with the publication of his book, “Non-Human: The Rendlesham Forest Incident: 42 Years of Denial.”

In that volume, Hesseltine reveals that the incident lasted much longer than previously believed, involved more people, and that the story since promulgated in ufological circles has most likely been whitewashed by folks trying to keep these new details secret.

Heseltine here describes his investigative methodology, and what he believes likely motivated the event.

A career detective whose work has been pivotal on cases that range from rape and murder to terrorism in the city of London, Hesseltine has retired from law enforcement to investigate the truth about UFOs, UAPs, and what they represent for our species.

Gary is also the publisher of UFO Truth Magazine, and has long been involved in ICER, the International Coalition for Extraterrestrial Research.

On this episode, I sit down with author and folklorist Joshua Cutchin to discuss his latest book, “Fourth Wall Phantoms: Reflections on the Paranormal, Narrative, and Fictions Becoming Fact.”

We also discuss UFOs, archetypes, astrology, addiction, faith, and Kevin Cann’s Platonic Surrealism.

Cann and Professor Jeffrey Kripal will be teach a class at Esalen on Dec. 5 through Dec. 7, “The Soul is a UFO: Understanding and Embracing Transcendence.”

They will use Cutchin’s new book as one of the recommended texts.

Both Cutchin and I are in recovery, and we discuss the way addiction and recovery provides for an initiatory spiritual experience that provides for much personal growth and insight.

When the demiurge is your pet — Kevin Cann — Neon Galactic Jun 30, 2025

On this episode, I again interview spiritual savant Kevin Cann, co-author with Jeff Kripal of Chapter 3 from “How to Think Impossibly,” Kripal’s latest book.

Cann is the originator of what he calls a new synthesis of spirituality and ontology, called Platonic Surrealism.

Combining elements of analytical idealism, neo-platonism, gnosticism, cabala, the interface theory of perception, imaginal semiotics, and more, Cann’s PS is a highly developed and elegant architecture meant to help explain the meaning of purpose of existence, the nature of the UFO, non-human intelligence, and much more.

In this conversation, we discuss how Cann’s many extraordinary experiences and his history with autism, trauma, and abuse have helped him see beyond the illusory nature of this life, and perceive the deeper layers of reality.

We also discuss the nature of the human soul, the universe, God, and much more.

We also discuss an upcoming class at Esalen, scheduled for this December, that will highlight Cann’s work, as well as that of author and thinker Joshua Cutchin and Professor Jeffrey Kripal.

On this week’s episode, David Stuss and I interview Dr. Diane Hennacy Powell about her work with non-verbal autistic children to explore their psi abilities and the nature of consciousness.

Powell’s work was recently highlighted in the hit podcast, The Telepathy Tapes by Ky Dickens.

In this interview, we cover her early background in science, how the subject of psi phenomenon became a primary research interest, and what she’s learned from decades of doing such work.

We explore what such abilities indicate about the nature of reality and the human mind.

We also talk about an earlier attempt to delegitimize her work by connecting her with the anti-vax movement, which was an inaccurate interpretation of comments she’d made around the complexities of exploding autism rates. She explains her position in detail here.

On this episode, I interview UFO researcher Daniel Elizondo to review recent UAP-related headlines, consider the progress made toward transparency, and highlight the subtleties in this discussion that too often get missed in the rush for clicks and internet traffic.

Elizondo and I discuss the recent Wall Street Journal article supposedly debunking the UFO subject as a government operation to hide advanced technology. We point out how and why that story fails to address the full history and breadth of the issue and it’s impact.

We also discuss whistleblower Matthew Brown, his story as told to Jeremy Corbell and George Knapp, and his recent tweet that seems to hint at buried metaphysical truths.

Unstructured light craft? Enochian angels? God is real?

Given the rather frustrating and seemingly manipulated pace of disclosure, we consider whether it’s even the right question to be asking: Is our time better spent focusing on disclosure, or the phenomenology of experience?

We also explore the proper attitude to have toward new evidence, new witnesses, and sundry — how it’s important to keep them in mind while not accepting them uncritically, and how to use them to fuel future research.

Finally, we discuss artificial intelligence, and how such technology helps and hinders UFO research, and how the risks can be mitigated.

On this episode, I interview molecular biologist Max Rempel about his efforts to find and isolate traces of alien DNA in the genomes of human beings.

We discuss his background in the sciences, his interest in the subject of alien genetics, and his mainstream work on DNA.

We also discuss how Rempel believes DNA works, how consciousness is generated, and the nature of mind.

Rempel has analyzed hundreds of genomes, available publicly online, to search for evidence of non-parental insertions. He claims he's found several instances that point to modification and insertion, and presents some of that evidence in this interview.

Rempel also offers to analyze anyone's DNA for traces of ET origins, and describes in this interview how to deliver him a sample.

How to transcend materiality — Dr. Iya Whiteley — Neon Galactic May 30, 2025

In this episode, cohost David Stuss and I interview space psychologist and cognitive engineer Iya Whiteley on the arc of her career as a scientist, her journey into the human mind, and how she arrived at an appreciation of non-dual metaphysics and eastern healing modalities.

We also explore how humans both deploy and are products of language, consciousness, intuition and peak performance.

Featured prominently in Diana Pasulka’s second book, “Encounters,” Iya’s professional work includes designing both equipment and training programs to improve the performance of highly trained professionals, including military pilots, astronauts, cosmonauts and surgeons.

She has worked at the European Astronaut Centre for the European Space Agency in Cologne, Germany and collaborated with NASA and the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre in Star City, Russia.

Since having her own children, Iya now also teaches courses for parents to help them establish mutually supportive and potentially transformative relationships with their children.

In recent years, her work has been featured on BBC Science, PBS and NatGeo.

We discuss her scientific work and how that was ultimately informed and enriched by a lifelong interest in martial arts and consciousness.

We also explore Iya’s interest in traditional Korean medicine, and the work of Professor Park Jae Woo, and how those principles and philosophies inform her cosmology.

On this episode, I interview ExoAcademian Darren King to assemble and discuss a coherent and inclusive picture of what’s emerged for me over the past couple years in the hosting of Neon Galactic.

King is host of the Point of Convergence, Liminal Phrames, and Event Horizon podcasts, as well as a seeker and teacher.

Together, we examine the nature of non-human intelligence, consciousness, and the apparently interpenetrating layers of mind that seem to make up the broader universe.

We discuss how egoic separation and individual identity have plagued our species and caused us to become a kind of cancer, rapacious and disconnected from the broader body of being.

King describes how reality to his mind consists of holons, where each individual element exists both on its own as an individual entity, but also as a constituent part of some broader being. These holons start as the smallest constituent particles and atoms, arise into cells and organs of the body, then emerge to contain the universe.

We ask, is this a minded universe? And if so, what role do archetypes play both within our own minds and within the fabric of reality?

King describes how he sees life and being as an expression of energy. The purpose is to be a purposeful and positive conduit of such energies.

We also discuss how the development of some technologies may be a perversion of this spiritual universe, where the natural cycles of life and death get subverted.

DMT as a shortcut to Oz — Andrew Gallimore — Neon Galactic May 14, 2025

On this episode of Neon Galactic, David Stuss and I are joined by Andrew Gallimore, one the world’s leading researchers and theorists into dimethyltriyptamine, or DMT, who will soon be publishing his third book on the subject, “Death By Astonishment: Confronting the Mystery of the World’s Strangest Drug.”

Gallimore is an author, chemical neuropharmacologist, and neurobiologist whose work has pushed the boundaries of modern science and confronted the limits of conventional thinking on the use of psychedelics and their interface with the human brain.

We discuss the history of DMT — how it was discovered by modern scientists, isolated and ultimately synthesized.

We talk about the role various pioneers played in that effort, from Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert to Terence McKenna and Rick Strassman, and how all the conventional theories for its visionary effects seem to fail deeper analysis.

DMT has been found across the world, in both plants and animals, and even in the human body. Its relative ubiquity and transformative power suggest that its efficacy as a drug may be more than just an evolutionary defense mechanism against predation.

Gallimore ultimately arrives at a startling conclusion — that DMT amounts to a technology allowing some higher form of intelligence the ability to seize control of our cognitive systems and communicate through the fantastical realms of deep inner space.

We also talk about the DMT moonshot efforts, initiated by Gallimore, to infuse patients with DMT and allow them to extend and stabilize their experiences under DMT and begin a deeper exploration.

The idea has been tested on volunteers for up to 30 minutes, and those patients emerged from these episodes with no ill effects.Gallimore says the next step is to prolong these journeys, broaden exploration, and try to learn about and map the realms that DMT has opened up.

Astrology as a map of the human psyche — Richard Tarnas — Neon Galactic May 10, 2025

On this episode of Neon Galactic, I’m joined by my good friend David Stuss, a science educator from Camosun College in British Columbia, and a lifelong experiencer, to interview the brilliant cultural historian, author and astrologer Richard Tarnas, who is returning to the show for a follow-up to our initial conversation last year.

Tarnas is the founding director of the Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness Graduate Program at the California Institute for Integral Studies in San Francisco, and author of two brilliant books that have shaped my thinking around human history, and the nature of reality.

“Passion of the Western Mind: Understanding the Ideas that Have Shaped Our World View” is a review of human intellectual endeavor in the western world from the ancients up to the 20th Century.

“Cosmos and Psyche: Intimations of New World View” lays out Tarnas’s argument for the efficacy of archetypal astrology, and plumbs deep history for examples of how those cosmic forces have played out in human society.

In this conversation, we discuss the nature of archetypes, whether they’re capable of change, how they relate to human consciousness, and how they impact free will.

We also discuss the current moment, and how it’s reflected in astrological conditions, and whether skeptics and experiencers are feasibly made such by their natal charts.

Also, considering lessons from non-dual traditions worldwide, we examine whether contemplative growth and realization frees people from archetypal forces, or if that’s even possible.

On the UFO subject, we consider how archetypes may shape or inform people’s encounters with NHI, and whether recent reports of the divine feminine represent an archetypal alarm meant to herd us back to a more balanced psyche.
