On this episode of Neon Galactic, I’m joined by author and psychonaut Adam Butler, to talk about his life, his experience with DMT, his book, and how turning inward has helped him reinvent his life.

Butler is the author of “Butler’s DMT Field Guide,” a volume that describes his experiences on the drug, how it has helped him, and offers various common recipes for acquiring it.

We talk about how DMT and other hallucinogens can have therapeutic and transformative power for percipients, if done right. Butler outlines how his life had collapsed due to alcoholism and other personality defects. Through the use of psychedelics and a deep journey inward, he has learned how to live a more centered, passionate, and empathetic life.

We also discuss how the lessons learned with psychedelics mirror many of the same ideas and principles offered up by ancient non-dual spiritual traditions.

The issues both he and I faced as part of our journeys into addiction and recovery reflect a broader sickness of society at large. Only by understanding our own shadow personality traits, and taking responsibility for their improvement and eradication, can people learn to live improved lives.

Butler also describes how a journey to the Monroe Center helped him compare the Gateway Process used there with his own spiritual journey through the use of DMT. Both mechanisms lead people to the same sorts of realizations about self, world, and relationships.

On this episode of Neon Galactic, I interview Dr. Garry Nolan from Stanford University about the Sol Foundation, his work with Skywatcher, the nature of consciousness and the complexities of scientific work in a capitalist society.

Nolan is the Rachford and Carlota A. Harris Professor in the Department of Pathology at Stanford University School of Medicine. He has published over 350 research articles and is the holder of 50 US patents, and has been honored as one of the top 25 inventors at Stanford University. He has in recent years been one of the foremost scientists willing to engage in the research and study of unidentified anomalous phenomena.

We discuss the Sol Foundation, its goals for the future, and how it’s proceeding on three different tracks to help encourage the study of UAPs. We also discuss such work is viewed by the larger scientific mainstream, and how he’s hoping to bring the subject into larger academic and scientific arenas.

We also explore how religious experiences and pursuit of non-dual spiritual pursuits can prepare one for encounters with the UAP/NHI phenomenon.

Nolan also offers his thoughts on the Dan Farah film, “Age of Disclosure,” which premiered recently at the SXSW Festival in Texas.

I ask him how we can encourage the development of UAP science and fund that research without exacerbating existing economic and social divisions.

On this episode of Neon Galactic, we sit down with experiencer, researcher, author and seeker Daniel Rekshan to discuss his life, work, and perspective on the ongoing contact phenomenon and what it means for humanity.

Rekshan is a hypnotist, artist, dream worker, and freelance shaman who has been working over the past several years to help experiencers contextualize their contact and interpret it within the framework of their own lives.

Reskshan argues that shamanism offers a model by which people can take the power back over their own experiences and escape the sort of victimhood that has been placed on them by some of the operative narratives in the UFO/NHI space.

Rekshan believes in the reality of contact, but maintains that its reality has much to do`with humanity’s experience of dreaming. That imaginal realm is the nexus, confluence or meeting point where these different worlds and entities seem most prone to connect. He does NOT argue that abductions and downloads are merely dreams, rather than the dreams appear to be the technology or mechanism deployed by the other for making contact.

On this episode of Neon Galactic, we interview Karin Austin of Archives of the Impossible and the John Mack Institute about her experience at Sol this year, and her work to help make experiencer metadata accessible to researchers.

Karin Austin is an experiencer who participated in John Mack’s research into the alien encounter phenomenon during the late 1990s. She later evolved into a role as his personal assistant.

After John’s passing, she helped the Mack family with the closing of his estate and was directly responsible for preparing John’s home-based archives for storage

She has spent the last years working to make the metadata available from Mack’s years of research, clinical sessions, and correspondence available for deeper study.

We discuss how the subject of contact fits into the larger political dynamics of the United States, and how the messages long received by abductees and experiencers have been predicting a collapse. Are we upon that moment?

How do we move forward as a topic under these social stressors?

We also discuss how the nature of contact has changed over the years, and what that might mean.

On this episode of Neon Galactic, we interview Dr. Gregory Shushan, author and researcher of near-death experiences throughout history in cultures all around the world.

We discuss the phenomenology of NDEs, their role in the creation of religion, how they relate to other contact modalities, and their problematic status in academia.

We also cover how the subject has shaped Shushan’s own thinking about the afterlife, and how various texts throughout history seem to outline what appears to be a relatively consistent picture of what happens after people die.

Shushan is a historian of religions, an award-winning author, and the leading authority on near-death experiences and the afterlife across cultures and throughout history.

Shushan is a Visiting Research Fellow at University of Winchester's Centre for Death, Religion and Culture; Adjunct Professor of Thanatology at Marian University; and Research Fellow of the Parapsychology Foundation.

He was formerly Perrott-Warrick Researcher at University of Oxford's Ian Ramsey Centre for Science and Religion; Scholar-in Residence at the Centro Incontri Umani (The Cross Cultural Centre), Ascona, Switzerland; and Honorary Research Fellow at the Religious Experience Research Centre, University of Wales Trinity Saint David.

He has lectured at universities in the UK, Ireland, and Switzerland and has given numerous talks on his research in nine countries, and has appeared on the History Channel.He holds degrees in Religious Studies (University of Wales Lampeter), Research Methods for the Humanities, Egyptian Archaeology (University College London), and Eastern Mediterranean Archaeology (Birkbeck College, University of London).

He is currently (2024) working towards his second PhD with a project on near-death experiences in Classical antiquity.

On this episode of Neon Galactic, science educator David Stuss and I interview analyst and deep thinker Matthew Pines on UAPs, Jacob Barber, the politics of disclosure, the equities of ontological change, and how the evolving power structures of American society are now shifting in strange, powerful new ways.

Matthew is currently the executive director of the BTC Policy, among other roles, and has become an important voice in the UAP/NHI conversation.

Our chat starts with the current moment in the UAP issue, and Matt’s recent engagement with Barber’s Skywatcher group.

From there, we explore how various factions of government and the private sector are preparing themselves for a new economic geography that may arise post-disclosure, and how society can help ensure that these new discoveries don’t further exacerbate existing inequities.

On this episode of Neon Galactic, we interview Mona Sobhani, a flipped cognitive neuroscientist and author whose shifting worldview has opened her up to a life of transcendent experience and meaning.

Her book,”Proof of Spiritual Phenomena: A Neuroscientist's Discovery of the Ineffable Mysteries of the Universe,” charts her exploration and journey out of the physical materialist paradigm that came with her work and education.

The journey starts with her own mother’s psychic gift of reading coffee grounds, which had proven its efficacy over and over again throughout Mona’s life.

“After succumbing to the depths of despair during an existential crisis, I climbed out of the grave I had dug for my hope, wiped my hands clean of the dirt of depression, and started on my way to uncover the answers to the ineffable mysteries of the universe that I had encountered in the darkness,” she writes in her online bio, which describes how she decided to “pull the lynch pin of consciousness and find myself at the crossroads of science and spirituality.”

In this conversation, we discuss her personal experiences, her practices as a seeker and contemplative, and the in-depth research she conducted, at first for her own edification and later as the research for her book.

“I want to live in a world where kindness is king – where humans can reclaim the word humanity and deserve it, “ her bio reads. “My heart longs for a world where humans see themselves as part of a vast, interconnected network that includes nature (not as separate from it) … . Let's create a world where we don't have to strive for justice and equality – where it already is just and equal. I want to see the doors of perception blown wide open.”

On this episode of Neon Galactic, we get straight to the heart of what all the anomalous human experiences we’ve covered on this show are trying to tell us. This is a culmination.

Author, thinker, healer Paul Levy joins us to discuss his recently re-issued book, The Quantum Revelation, and how it reveals that science over the past 120 years has failed to take seriously the transformative discoveries made during the quantum revolution.

While many have bent over backwards and contorted themselves in the intervening years to dress up quantum physics as just a way to make experimental results match predictions, and damn the ontological ramifications, Levy in this book corrals a daunting list of quotes from those early, intrepid quantum explorers who knew full well they were rediscovering the universe.

By taking the quantum seriously, we’re faced with a universe that is transcendent, mysterious, mind-like, and unified. These discoveries hearken back to and confirm some of the most ancient mystical human traditions, revealing that humanity has long had the keys to these truths in hand. We’ve just never had the heart to take them seriously.

In the modern era, we’ve clung desperately to a damned worldview, physicalist materialism, in spite of the mountains of evidence that have emerged to topple that program.

Levy here describes how how we dream up the universe, and thereby engage, determines everything about who we are and where we’re going.
