In this episode of Neon Galactic, we sit down with experiencer and author Matthew Roberts – recently featured in the Netflix series, Encounters – to talk about his experiences and how they helped shape within him a spiritual understanding of what may actually be happening with the overall contact phenomenon. He is a former Navy cryptologist, and analyst for the Office of Naval Intelligence. His message is stark, yet full of hope. Humanity is not a mere plaything or victim of vast galactic powers seeking to exploit or control the species. Rather, we are being guided, and often forcibly prodded, toward a more coherent and spiritual worldview that could allow us to transcend the limits of current circumstance. Roberts’ book, "Initiated," is a fascinating map of his own transformation and how that process is not stranger to human history. Our conversation covers how both individuals and the human race as a whole are now in the initiation process, and that though the experience may at times be harsh or difficult, the result may give us a long-missed opportunity to change the way we interact with the planet, and ourselves. On this episode of Neon Galactic, we interview attorney Daniel Sheehan, a mythic legal figure who over the course of his long career has played major roles in some of the most important legal fights ever undertaken— Pentagon Papers, Iran Contra, Silkwood, and many others. After glimpsing classified Project Blue Book photographs in the late 1970s that reportedly showed the US Air Force retrieval of a crashed UFO, Sheehan has been an advocate for UAP disclosure. In the past few years, he has come to represent Lue Elizondo, the Pentagon whistleblower who revealed in 2017 that the US government had and continues to be in the business of UFOs. Here Sheehan describes what from the now eviscerated Schumer Amendment to the 2024 National Defense Authorization Act will still do for efforts at disclosure, and how he and his allies will be working to lobby the Senate Intelligence Committee to put enforcement mechanisms back in the legislation. Sheehan also acknowledges that some of the current back-room negotiations between aerospace companies around recovered craft may well indicate that significant progress has been recently made in back engineering UFOs. Radiance Tech in particular may be trying to use that tech to develop and deploy a global nuclear quick strike missile technology, he said. On this episode of Neon Galactic, Dr. Jim Madden joins us to talk about his new book, “Unidentified Flying Hyperobject: UFOs, Philosophy, and the End of the World.” Madden, a Benedictine College philosophy professor, asks us to consider UFOs as “hyperobjects” spread out in a way that transcends our ordinary senses, as well as our rather limiting notions of space and time. He asserts that we only ever encounter these objects from within what he labels “Umwelt,” or world perspective, which is necessarily limiting. The reality of flying saucers, tic tacs, and illuminated spheres, meanwhile, may be a kind of encounter, communication or psychic manipulation from a wider realm of reality, what he calls the Uber Umwelt. By combining these notions and using them to approach and expand upon the work of Jacques Vallee, Diana Pasulka, Jeffrey Kripal and many others, Madden presents us with a conceptual system that can better help us all understand and deal with the confirmed presence of UFOs. We also discuss the potential benefits and dangers of technology, including AI, and how its rise and fall might be a necessary initiation into a new understanding of human powerlessness. On this episode of Neon Galactic, Professor Diana Pasulka from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington joins us to talk about her new book, “Encounters: Experiences with Non-Human Intelligences.” We talk about the nature of reality, the evolution of humanity, the advent of technology, and how all these things impact on the experience of being human. Her study reveals that the experience of UFOs, and the resulting mystery, has had a transformative impact on both individuals and broader society. With her usual humor and modesty, Pasulka describes how her academic journey led her to amend some of her own beliefs. In this episode of Neon Galactic, we sit down with best-selling author Nick Cook and artist Tristan Maduro to talk about the nature of reality and the intersection between UFOs and consciousness. As Nick and Tristan elucidate here, what we see all around us may well be a construct built by all our collected minds to enable survival and growth. Cook is the author of two books under discussion, “The Hunt for Zero Point,” and “The Grid,” both of which deal with aspects of the UFO phenomenon and the related mechanics of its manifestations. He is also the author of an award-winning essay for the contest put on by the Bigelow Institute for Consciousness Studies. Tristan’s art elegantly communicates much of the same information as in Cook’s essay, and offers a visceral visual experience of this expanded reality. The three of us discuss the fact that many different thinkers from as many different directions are all converging on the idea that we are part of a web of consciousness, the primal baseline reality that is outside human perception. For decades, Nick was a writer and ultimately the aviation editor for Jane’s Defence Weekly, a trade publication dealing with the highly secretive world of military technology. In this episode we sit down with researcher and author Chris Aubeck to talk about his newest book, “Saucers,” as well as his own experiences surrounding UAP and the phenomenon.

Aubeck discusses his rather shocking conclusion that the root of the flying saucer mythos may have more to do with social priming and expectations rather than actual sightings of disc-shaped crafts. Through in-depth and unsparing analysis and research, Aubeck reveals that the term “flying saucer” was in use for decades before that label got applied – oddly and mistakenly – to the crafts reported by Kenneth Arnold in 1947. The revelation points to a fascinating and weirdly appropriate source. In “Saucers,” he dissects the sequence of events that led to that mistaken usage, and in the process chronicles how misinformation and errors propagate so easily in popular culture. Years of research and writing have led Aubeck to a position of hopeful skepticism. He himself witnessed a rectangular UFO in the 1990s that seemed to display exceptional capabilities, yet he’s also found that with deeper research many if not most UFO stories fall apart upon deeper research, dissolving like candy floss in the rain. We also discuss his earlier works, including “Wonders in the Sky” with Jacques Vallee and “Alien Artifacts.” We also discuss an academic paper, attributed in part to Aubeck, that is very critical of the recent revelations by whistleblower David Grusch and the current global interest in UFOs. Aubeck responds that while he did contribute to the paper, he doesn’t entirely agree with its conclusions and has decided as a result of this paper to no longer participate in such partnerships. Robin Lassiter is the author of Earth: A Love Story, and hosts a podcast with the same title. She is a lifelong experiencer, and now helps others integrate their own anomalous experiences. After studying art through graduate school, he began working in television as a writer/producer, primarily for the Discovery Channel and its properties.

During the pandemic, Jay became heavily involved in hosting a network of confidential support groups for fellow experiencers of anomalous phenomena. He realized experiencers needed to have a private community to share, learn, and grow. That led to the creation of The Experiencer Group, where King now serves as Director.

He, along with researcher James Iandoli, founded the conference An Inquiry into Anomalous Experienced and the Phenomenon in New York City.
