Are you exhausted of quick fixes and one-sized fits all solutions when it comes to your care? ME TOO. In today’s episode, I talk about the real reason why the self-care industry on the whole is so supremely ineffective and disappointing. The truth is, you may need so much more than what we are being sold, but are routinely being blamed for your exhaustion. This is an episode for anyone who has ever thought, “If it’s so easy, why am I not doing it?” During this episode I mentioned that I am running a live version of my course Daily Tending! Sign-up before March 15th and get access to two extra special live calls with me in addition to the delicious 40 days of course content.

Tune in to hear me explore…

    • The cozy connection between the self-care industry and the diet industry
    • Having the compassion for yourself that grieves the loss of a quick fix option

oday’s episode features vision-led facilitator and coach Andréa Ranae Johnson. Andréa believes that together, we rise. She is deeply committed to doing her part in cultivating a world that works for everyone and does so by placing her work at the intersections of personal growth, social justice and conscious business. As the creator of Coaching as Activism, she supports people doing transformative work to deepen their impact by taking a critical look at how their work and lives are connected to social change. As the co-founder of Whole / Self Liberation, she offers and uplifts practical tools, resources and wisdom for those who want to make change happen in their lives and communities. As a coach and consultant, she works with entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations that want to be more inclusive and impactful do so through their approach to leadership, their marketing and their company culture. She’s a huge fan of #blackgirlmagic, sunsets and veggie burritos. In today’s episode, Andréa discusses the pleasure inherent in feeling ALL of your feelings, boundaries and consent in business and life, and the true freedom of not judging yourself for what you want and need. I had an opportunity to ask her about how she nourishes herself while also showing up fully and consistently in service to her community, which, quite frankly, I have always wanted to know! In the midst of a lot of laughter and an amateur exploration of human design, we dove into what it really means to show up and invite the fullest expression of yourself into your life.

Tune in to hear us explore…

    • Cultivating boundaries and choosing not to take on other people’s feelings as your own
    • Embracing imperfection in your creative pursuits and letting your truest self be enough
    • Receiving (and, YIKES, even eliciting) praise

    Upgrading Your Self-Talk Feb 22, 2019
    Show notes

Send Mara a quick text love note here!

Are you still (secretly) talking shit to yourself on a daily basis? It's time to stop. In today's episode, I talk about how self-talk is the lens we view EVERYTHING through and urge you to bring your attention to how you are speaking to yourself on a daily basis. So many of us are afraid to speak to ourselves kindly because we believe motivating ourselves out of cruelty and threat of punishment is how we are at our most productive. I want to dispel that myth once and for all and give you a nourishing framework to practice self-trust instead.

Tune in to hear me explore…

    • Pledging your primary allegiance to yourself
    • Showing yourself the same consideration and benefit of the doubt that you show others
    • How to gently guide yourself back to compassion whenever you notice your thoughts are less than kind

Sas Petherick is a self-doubt researcher, coach and podcaster who helps thinking humans transcend self-doubt. Sas helps you connect the dots between the root causes of your self-doubt, and tangible self-belief. During today's conversation, Sas lovingly talks to us about the freedom that comes from taking responsibility for our lives, living with greater intention, and rolling our sleeves up to take action on the things we want to do most. There is a reason Sas is such a phenomenal self-doubt teacher.
