My Cabbages! An Avatar Podcast

“My Cabbages!” is An Avatar: The Last Airbender Podcast started by two lovable nerds during a global pandemic to stave off their inevitable existential crisis. How many people does team Avatar accidentally murder? Does Zuko mistreat his interns? Is Aang more of a 5e Druid, or is he a Pathfinder Monk? Where are all the blue tree people? We find answers for all of Avatar’s most profoundly unasked questions. Join us, as we journey once more through one of the greatest stories ever told.

39.) Suck My D*ck, Go Rot in Jail (Ft. Erin and Zoey of Lore Olympod!) (ATLA S2E20) Dec 01, 2021

Show notes

In our Season 2 Finale episode, the extremely funny Erin and Zoey of Lore Olympod stop by to talk about Busty Rabbits, good good cats, and also Avatar at some point!
This week, The Gaang reconvenes to discover that the Kiyoshi warriors aren't the Kiyoshi warriors. (I'm shocked, SHOCKED I tell you!) Geopolitical hijinks ensue. Zuko decides this life of peace and inner-calm isn't for him, and he decides to rip out his poor uncle's heart, and beat it with a stick. This was such a fun episode! We spend most of it talking about how awesome (ly-terrible) Azula is.
Thanks so much for listening everyone! You all make it worth it. See you all again Early 2022!

38.) Daddy-Dae-Kim (Ft. Ethan Hulen!) (ATLA S2E19) Nov 17, 2021

Show notes

ATTENTION! The version of the episode that was uploaded earlier had the wrong audio. Sorry y'all, I (Zach) had a real oopsie. Here we go again!
This week, our Gaang pulls a Scooby Doo crew and splits up for a while, and we chat with friend and fellow podcaster Ethan Hulen about meditation, Zuko's angst, and the benefits of trying out standup routines on airplanes. Aang opens his chakras, Sokka gets some dad time, Toph spends the episode getting un-kidnapped, and Katara does the opposite.

37.) New Scroll, Who Dis? (Ft Mats!) (ATLA S2E18) Nov 03, 2021

Show notes

Our heroes are on a roll! They got Appa back, escaped from the Dai Li and feel like a bunch of winners, why break the momentum? They storm the castle, only to find an incredulous Earth King in need of convincing. Sokka will need to don his detective hat, and roll some truly prodigious Diplomacy rolls to sway the King in their favor. And failing that, they could always bribe Bosco with some fish!

36.) 1984-Esque (ft. Vaush!) (ATLA S2E17) Oct 20, 2021

Show notes

This week, Special Guest and Youtube Political Streamer Vaush stops by to nerd out with us about his all-time favorite show! (Spoilers, it's Avatar) He has some insightful things to say about cartoons, power structures, and the nuances of politics in a show made for a younger audience.
Our Heroes have settled into the overbearing monotony of the Earth King's hospitality, and after shutting the front door in Joo-Di's face, decide to take matters into their own hands. They find Jet post brainwash, and after de-programming him, set out to uncover the secrets of Lake Laogai, in order to finally discover the location of their dearest, fuzziest friend.

It's Movie Time, Clarice.... Oct 08, 2021

Show notes

Hey Folks, Work sucks and life's hard, so we're delaying the next full episode until the 20th.
BUT.....
You ever wonder what Horror movies we're into in this, the month of.... SPOOKTOBER???
You haven't? WELL HERE'S AN UNRELATED MINISODE ABOUT THAT VERY TOPIC! Surprise! This week we answer a question that nobody asked, because we're nerds and we like things.

35.) Soul Buddies (ft. Charlie from Of the Eldest Gods!) (ATLA S2E16) Sep 22, 2021

Show notes

This one's heavy Cabbage Patch. We need some big cabbage energy to get us through this one. Luckily we're joined by our dear friend Charlie to help and comfort us in our hour of need.
Appa is alone and lost without the Gaang's company. He escapes the clutches of many would-be captors, and licks an old Guru. and HE'S GOING TO BE FINE! EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE! I'm not just saying this to keep myself from sobbing, it's a truth. Next episode the Appa drought comes to an end, folks. This episode we struggle along with Appa, comforted by the very few moments of peace and solace this episode provides.
See you next time folks!

Katara and Toph have a treat yoself day, Iroh is a BEAUTIFUL SOUL AND MAKES ME FEEL FEELINGS, Aang Zookeeps, Sokka drops some bars, Zuko tries love, and Momo loves from afar. 33.) Crimelord Iroh (Ft. Mary Clay Watt from That's What I'm Tolkien About!) (ATLA S2E14) Aug 25, 2021

Show notes

Our heroes have finally arrived in Ba Sing Sae! The hard part is over, or so they think! Turns out an "audience with the KING" is a little more exclusive then the gaang thought, imagine that? We see the king's bear, Iroh gets deep in the tea, and Jet seems to be the only one to notice that kid looks a lot like the prince's wanted posters.
This week we are joined by the wonderful Mary Clay Watt of That's What I'm Tolkien About!
We share some laughs and some sobering realities about propaganda and the world we live in.

32.) The Bad Dragon of the West ft. Sean Watson! (ATLA S2E13) Aug 11, 2021

Show notes

This episode we sit down with fellow nerd, mechanical engineer and friend of the pod Sean Watson to pick his brain about the big... erm.... shaft? no, head? The Drill, the one the Fire Nation built that DEFINITELY doesn't look like a giant penis. we promise. We talk shop about a marvel of fantasy engineering, and the slurry that runs through its veins.
The Gaang has made it to Ba Sing Sae, but their relief is immediately dashed when the Birds of Prey show up with their new whip, and it's a 100,000 ton hunk of steel that just won't quit. How will they win the day? I can only say that it'll probably be in the least convenient way possible.
It's NOT A DICK tho.
