Courtney Peldon from Aqua Talent has been working in Hollywood since she was a toddler and she knows the ins and outs of this business. And since she's also my agent, I convinced her to let me interview her and get some insights on pilot season, how people "make it" in Hollywood today. We're also answering the questions you sent in via social media! Courtney has been on hit TV shows like Harry and the Hendersons, Home Improvement and Boston Public. She's also found herself in several roles behind the camera as well in casting and producing. Now she's found her home as a talent agent, pitching some of the top working actors today (myself included!) Courtney Peldon and Jonathan Taylor Thomas on Home Improvement She tells me how making it in Hollywood today is different than in years past. Now it's about a lot more than luck and talent. You have to hustle and create your own content. Actors will learn: How social media has changed the landscape of entertainment jobs What's different about pilot season now versus 5 years ago Why actors need to know their "place" in the pecking order. Do you know where you stand? Courtney also tells me how her mindset and goals have changed since becoming a mother last year. Can you still be driven in your career and find time for family? Her answer is so inspiring and makes me adore her even more. My favorite thing about Courtney is that she doesn't blow smoke. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is arguably one of the best shows on television. It's a musical, it's a comedy, it's unrequited love at it's finest. Rachel Bloom was just nominated for her second Golden Globe for Best Actress and although she's the show's star, there are also very talented writers and producers working behind the scenes to bring these characters to life. Two of these producers are the writing team of Audrey Wauchope and Rachel Specter. I've known Rachel since we met 3 years ago in a Mommy & Me class. At the time, she was one of the only moms I knew in the industry who was still working and juggling motherhood. She doesn't know it, but I've admired her for many years (well, maybe she knows now!) and I was even more impressed when I found out she and another mom were writing partners.

She talks about watching Miley Cyrus grow up before her eyes, and how child stars in real life vs what we see on TV. She was very supportive of the current movement that's encouraging more producers to hire female directors. You want to have a woman's perspective and not the same guys over and over again. Autumn Reeser (Sully, The OC, Entourage) is a working actress and mom of 2. She also travels a lot for work so as you can imagine there's a lot of juggling going on. We talk about auditions when you have to take your kids in the room. For some actors it's no big deal, but others find it very distracting and hard to focus. So when you're a mom with no child care in place, what do you do? She talks about the challenges of raising very physical boys. It's a different ball game than with girls! And where her career is going next. She'll be starring in The Arrangement coming out in March 2017 and gives us an inside look at her new film with Jean Claude Van Damme.
