It was September of 2005 when a man came running up the dam beside the Princes Highway in Victoria, Australia. He was soaking wet and had the look of fear frozen on his face. The man managed to flag down a passing vehicle. He exclaimed that he had crashed his car into the dam and it had sunk to the bottom of the dark and icy waters. He then added that his three children were still inside the car…

Introducing: American Scandal Dec 20, 2021
    Show notes

American Scandal is a podcast from Wondery that explores the darker stories that have shaped the United States. From the Unabomber to Bernie Madoff, these are stories that reveal the underbelly of America: ruthless, secretive, and power-hungry. The new season of American Scandal looks at the controversial decision made by a young government official named Daniel Ellsburg to leak the Pentagon Papers, the documents that led Americans to demand an end to the catastrophic Vietnam War. Once Ellsburg realized this terrible truth, he made the bold decision to leak the documents, and the consequences altered the course of American history. This is just a preview of American Scandal, but you can listen to the full episode at: http://wondery.fm/AS_Morbidology

Mont Vernon is a town located in New Hampshire in the United States. It is the home of around 2,500 residents, and consists almost entirely of single-family homes and just a handful of stores. It has a real quaint feel to it and is considered by many to be the perfect location to raise a family, free from the violence that can plague bigger towns and cities. In October of 2009, however, this quaint town would be rocked by an extremely brutal murder that became a chilling reminder to the world that you’re never truly safe, even in your own home.
