How many hours do you spend on your phone per day? Did you know that our screens are actually changing the way our brains work, including our attention spans, our expectations and most of all, our capacity to feel happiness?

One of the biggest factors in happiness is having a sense of meaning or purpose and in making progress toward that. But thanks to technology, for the first time in history, we’re consuming more than we’re creating.

This isn’t an accidental byproduct of technology… we’re actually being manipulated by companies who have their own bottom line in mind over the health of our planet.

Here are a few stark facts:10 years ago the average attention span was 3 minutes. Now it’s 45 seconds.Multitasking results in a 40% loss of productivityExperts recommend spending 25 mins to 2 hours working on a project at a time. If you’re spending less then you’re killing your concentrationIt generally takes 23 minutes and 15 seconds to return to work following a distractionOur guest today is the perfect person to speak on this topic. Brian Solis is a tech data analyst who has studied the effects of emerging technology. When he started to realize the profound effects this technology was having on his own brain, he knew he had to do something to stop it.

    Today we will learn:

    • How technology is designed to manipulate us and the consequences of that
    • Steps to live with more intention once we free up time from all that numbing
    • How to reclaim our focus to find flow

Self-Worth and Owning Your Shit Jul 30, 2019
    Show notes

Your life and what you do with it, is directly impacted by how worthy you feel. If you don’t feel like you deserve something, chances are you won’t have it.

Why? You won’t take action or you won’t create the energy needed to attract the outcome.

How worthy you feel will affect your ability to see things, even challenges as things that happen for you instead of to you.

So it’s really important we get a handle on this.

But how? It’s not like we just chose to not feel worthy. Our self-worth is usually a reflection of a whole lot of past experiences, what other people have said to us, other people dripping their personal crap onto us, and evidence we’ve collected throughout our lives.

Today we’re talking to Tracy Litt, a certified mindset coach and transformation therapist and author of the book Worthy Human. I loved this interview because she calls you on your bullshit. She’s fun and direct and cuts right to the heart of what’s real and true.

    Today we will learn:

    • How to own your shit through a total subconscious audit
    • How to handle it when you’re affected by other people’s shit
    • How to change your experience by tuning into higher parts of yourself and others

The Sacred Feminine with Rebecca Campbell Jul 23, 2019
    Show notes

Right now in the world, the sacred feminine is rising. We see it in the MeToo movement, we see it with the rise of female-founded companies and women CEOs, but we also see it in the shift of masculinity.

We live in a patriarchal world. This doesn’t mean that men are ruling the world, it means that the dominating energy has been of the masculine. Both men, women and non-binary have both masculine and feminine energy. Having too much of one or the other causes and imbalance.

Most of modern history has suppressed the sacred feminine, from as far back as burning witches at the stake, to limiting women’s rights. But now, the feminine is finally claiming her place. And with that comes a lot of learning to fully harness our feminine power.

The feminine is all about receiving – it’s the root of our intuition. So many of the things women have been convinces are weaknesses or embarrassments are actually our power… from our big emotions, to our menstrual cycles.

As the sacred feminine takes its place at the table, we need sisterhood and connection more than ever.

Today’s episode is full of juicy women’s history, how to work with our goddess energy, and unleashing the wise, wild women within ourselves. Our guest is Rebecca Campbell, devotional artist and author of popular books such as Light is the New Black and Rise Sister Rise. I’ve been a fan of hers for awhile so I’m really excited to spend this time with her today.

    Today we will learn:

    • How to recognize the ways we have been keeping ourselves contained
    • How to use your menstrual cycle to align your work flow
    • How we can best show up for the balance of the masculine and feminine

    Show notes

Have you ever thought of what it would take to get to absolute peak performance in your body, career, or just life in general?

I remember watching the Olympics as a kid and thinking, "Those people must just be built differently. They probably always knew they were destined to make it to the top."

It's easy to make assumptions, but sometimes our assumptions are just excuses that give us an out for our own greatness.

Releasing Expectations with Christine Hassler Jul 02, 2019
    Show notes

There’s a saying, “Expectations are premeditated resentments.” We project our past into our future or we hold people and circumstances to imaginary standards.

But just because we expect something, doesn’t mean it will happen.

This becomes a real problem when we pin our hopes on happiness on having our expectations fulfilled.

It’s basically giving the reigns of our happiness to our circumstances or to other people.

We all face setbacks we cannot control, yet we often forget that we have a choice about how to handle those setbacks. The “Expectation Hangovers” we feel in the wake of disappointment, failure, or loss can become doorways to tremendous opportunities and life-changing gifts.

Managing your expectations is not about lowering your standards. Today we talk to Master coach Christine Hassler who specializes in radical self-reflection. We talk on how to pursue the right goals for the right reasons and also what to do when things don’t work out as expected.

    Today we will learn:

    • The difference between Intention vs expectation
    • Practical steps to releasing expectation in relationships
    • How to stop judging your emotions

    Sparking Creativity Jun 18, 2019
    Show notes

Creativity is an innate ability in everyone. If you can think of an idea… even a bad one, you’re creative. Creativity is just finding an idea or solution that works by experimenting and playing... and professional Creativity is when you can turn these new and imaginative ideas into reality.

It takes practice to learn to consciously drop into specific brain states like creativity, and even more practice to learn to stay there... and even more practice to override your current mood, or feelings of doubt and fear.

Our guest is Nancy Hillis, an abstract artist and Stanford-trained psychiatrist. Nancy guides artists to create their deepest, most authentic art through her signature approach, which combines art and psychiatry. She really understands how our brains work and how to work them to create what we desire.

    Today we will learn:

    • All about the inner landscape of creating
    • How our own fear and resistance gets in the way of creating
    • The importance of your ugly first drafts, sketches, paintings, or ideas

    Overcoming Overwhelm Jun 11, 2019
    Show notes

Millennials are the most stressed generation that has ever existed. We’re all stressed because we’re living in a time where our environments are evolving at a faster than our biology can keep up with.

This stress and overwhelm is making millions of us sick, tired and frustrated. But we can’t solve stress and overwhelm by doing more and more of what we’ve been doing. We need a way to overcome it.

Instead of just meditating between twice during our 18 hour days and deep breathing through our 72 tasks each day, imagine if we could find a way to really focus on what matters so we could give our full energy to. Those things.

Our guest today is Dr. Samantha Brody. She is a licensed naturopathic physician and acupuncturist, and the founder of Evergreen Natural Health Center in Portland, OR. Dr. Samantha says “You don’t need new ways to manage your stress, you need to/prevent/it from overwhelming you in the first place.”

So today she’s going to help us systematically undo overwhelm.

    We will learn:

    • How to identify what’s truly important to you
    • How to identify the roadblocks that get in the way of making change
    • How to align your self care with your values
