In The Books! Postgame Show: Game 4 Jul 28, 2020
    Show notes

The Mets defeated the Red Sox 7-4 on an offensive surge that saw bombs from Conforto, Alonso and Dom Smith and hits for everyone throughout the lineup, except for Robinson Cano!! Michael Wacha Flocka Flame became just the second pitcher since Jacob deGrom to allow 1 run or less in his Mets debut and the bullpen didn't implode. Seth Lugo continued to prove that he's the guy we can depend on by picking up a save on 1 1/3 innings of relief and the Amazin's live to see another day without a KFC Cuncel.

In The Books! Postgame Show: Game 3 Jul 27, 2020
    Show notes

The Mets get crushed by the Braves 14-1 on a truly awful debut for Rick Porcello. The former Cy Young pitcher only lasted 2-innings before handing it over to sacrificial lamb, Corey Oswalt, and there was no looking back after that. We had been waiting for the other shoe to drop all series and when it did, the Braves dropped BOMBS all over us!! The offense continued to look anemic at the plate, Eduardo Nunez hyperextended his knee and we didn't even have our security blanket of Gary, Keith and Ron to get us through it because Chipper Jones and John Smoltz were having a conference call reunion right in our faces.

In The Books! Postgame Show: Game 2 Jul 26, 2020
    Show notes

The Mets fall to the Braves 5-3 in extras thanks to another forgettable save attempt by EdLose Diaz. Steven Matz looked like a true #2 and the Mets bullpen was stable, but Diaz just flat out isn't the guy we thought he would be!! Conforto and Rosario combined for 5 hits and looked solid at the plate, however missed opportunities for insurance runs left us at the mercy of Edwin.

In The Books! Postgame Show: Game 1 Jul 25, 2020
    Show notes

The New York Mets improve to 1-0 with another Opening Day victory. Jacob deGrom threw 5 innings, allowing no runs while striking out 8 and getting no run support. Yoenis Cespedes made his triumphant return to the lineup with a majestic HR to left and Edwin Diaz came in to close the door and preserve the shutout!!

    WGB #57: 2020 Season Preview Jul 24, 2020
    Show notes

New York Mets baseball officially kicks off today and the SECOND we started thinking positive, reality came and smacked us right in the face!! Stroman tore his calf, Marisnick has a tight hammy, Gsellman tweaked his tricep, we brought back Juanny Beisbol and around and around we go. The cuncel is coming quick folks. Not here yet, but KFC already has an itchy trigger finger. Dead Lowrie continues to rob the team of millions, our manager doesn’t have a clue, starting pitching is a mess, the bullpen is a question mark and WHY THE HELL IS ROBINSON CANO STILL BATTING 3RD!? The more things change, the more they stay the same. The only thing that matters in 2020 is Steve Cohen. Nothing else matters. Just keep the core healthy and move it along to 2021. Speaking of uncle Stevie, the A-Rod group made a last ditch effort for the team by pushing a Cohen smear campaign, but it fell on deaf ears. We’re not here to win any humanitarian awards, we just want to win games-flat out. We know that it's a stretch to think this team can be a contender, but we gotta believe that they'll at least find new and interesting ways to rip our hearts out.

WGB #56: Cohen Is King Jul 17, 2020
    Show notes

We almost got a classic KFC mush after rumors started swirling of Sheldon Adelson and Silver Lake Partners joining the Harris/Blitzer group to buy the Mets. Thank GOD it was a false alarm and actually just the Wilpons being scumbags to push the bids higher, but it still has us on edge about what other tricks these rats might have up their sleeves!! Don't get us wrong, we love a good mystery bidder, but not if they're gonna unseat king Cohen. We're here for the drama, but not at the cost of losing the chosen one. Not only that, but we're fighting a battle on two fronts! The sale of the team off the field and deGrom’s barking back on it. If ever there was a sign that baseball is upon us, it's the Mets instantly descending into chaos. We got thick boy Pete getting flack from the internet, Kelenic looking like a generational talent, Robbie Cano returning from a 'RonaCation and a Cold War brewing with Red Sox nation. The guys also tease the debut of our new postgame show and quick-hit podcasts to give you all the Mets talk you could ask for throughout the season. The cardboard cutouts are lining CitiField and we want to be front and center with our ‘Fire Wilpon’ shirts cause we gotta believe that the new owner (wink, wink) would love that.

WGB #55: The Cohen Comeback Jul 10, 2020
    Show notes

We’re right back where we started in December and boy does it feel great! It’s not that we don’t like the J-Rod group, it’s just that we know how much better life would be with uncle Stevie. Not only will he outbid any competition that dares show their face, but he will still have BILLIONS left over to make this team into a contender!! There's legitimately no downside to this sale, unless of course you're that rat bastard, Jeff Wilpon. How mad do you have to be at someone to give away hundreds of millions of dollars? According to the New York Post, very mad. Sources are saying Stevie has got to come in at least $200 million higher than the next closest bidder, otherwise Jeff is selling to them. This silver-spooned scumbag has already cost his daddy and poor Saul Katz once, there's no way they let him do it again right? RIGHT!? Our only other hope is that the rest of the league's ownership steps in to force these clowns to take the max offer. Clem comes up with worst case scenarios for how they could still manage to blow this, KFC makes his pitch to uncle Stevie for his "services" and a new war may be brewing between the Red Sox and Mets' faithful. We don't know when the sale will ultimately happen, but we gotta believe that we'll be parading down the canyon of champions the second it does.

    WGB #54: A Sale Is Coming Jul 03, 2020
    Show notes

They guys break down each of the known New York Mets bidders and what they could bring to the table. The Reuben Bros ($20B) are the only players on the board that could outbid Cohen, but it’s more of a business investment than for the love of the game so Stevie won't go lightly!! We envision a not too distant future where Mets fans are the bell of the ball and Prince Charming Cohen saves the day, giving us a true storybook ending. Also, we’re done being embarrassed by Bonilla Day. We’re here to celebrate the finesse God and stop knocking his hustle. KFC and Clem come up with ideas for what they'd do with his payouts and condemn Darren Rovell and his followers for even making this stupid holiday. The Mets roster is almost complete with the Melk Man and Mad Dog “Crazy Eyes” Hughes being added to the squad but we can think of one more addition that would really put the team over the top, the savior, Tim Tebow. Tim wouldn't actually play BUT he could step in during a plague and turn this team back into the Miracle Mets. Mets fans have become professional shit talkers to survive, give us a solid product on the field and we gotta believe that we’ll take the MLB by storm!

    WGB #53: Worlds Collide Jun 26, 2020
    Show notes

Our worlds have collided and Dave Portnoy might buy the New York Mets. Mike Repole is joining ARod and JLo's super group and bringing his Vitamin Water/Body Armor money along with him. He may be a billionaire, but that’s just a drop in the bucket compared to uncle Stevie!! If "straight cash" Cohen wants this team, not even Manfred can get in his way (he can but he's got enough bad press for one lifetime so he better not block it) Is baseball REALLY coming back? The guys are skeptical with corona which begs the question, would you rather baseball come back with no postseason or not come back at all? We also break down the universal DH, the Murder’s Row schedule of the new eastern division, abolishing west coast games for good and we finally give Pete Alonso the nickname that he deserves. We have no idea if baseball will be a thing this year, but we gotta believe that football season will save us.

    WGB #52: Snip-Snap, Snip-Snap, Snip-Snap Jun 19, 2020
    Show notes

The players and owners may be going back and forth on negotiations for a season, but there will be NO snip-snap for Clem. The big man jumps on the pod before heading under the knife to make sure he never brings another Mets fan into this world!! Surprise, surprise, the Wilpons are crying poor on a $250 million loan, but what cuts the deepest are reports that they won't invest any more team into the club for next year if the team isn't sold. We talk about the greatest baseball booth in the game, the midwest bracket and start an early campaign with the HOF players committee for Carlos Delgado. Not enough people talk about it, but after looking at the numbers for Delgado and Big Papi we gotta believe that he's earned himself a second look.
