All of us are on cloud 9 fantasizing about what the future holds. This team went from being the bane of our existence to our salvation in less than 24-hours and the sky is the limit! There are literally no limits when you've got an owner with the juice like Stevie's got and from all of us at We Gotta Believe we just want to say that we love you, we stand with you and we gotta believe that our lives have just gotten insurmountably better thanks to this historic night.

We talk the video leak of Brodie ripping commissioner Rob Manfred for his attempted hijacking of last night's postponed game, the retracting of said statement with the blame shifting to Jeff Wilpon and the Wilpons' issued statements that blamed Brodie and somehow spelled his name incorrectly TWICE. The Mets do the right thing and somehow, someway, we gotta believe that they will end up on the back page of every newspaper for their side show antics.

WGB #61: We're Going Streaking Aug 20, 2020

The Mets have their first winning streak of the year and are just 2 games away from .500 on the season, but, on the verge of a sweep and with the Yankees banging down our door for this weekend, Corona has reared its ugly head. Who's got the rona? Your guess is as good as ours, but this team was sick long before their trip to Miami and the only cure is Steve Cohen!! Conforto, Dom and Guillorme have been revelations thus far, however the bullpen continues to look shaky and with Lugo being plucked from the pen and reinserted into the rotation, can the team really hold up down the stretch? Sven Matz ain't the guy whether he's starting or relieving and Diaz can try to fool us all he wants. There's no one that we truly feel comfortable with in a tight spot other than the Quarterican and now he's gone. The only thing that we can truly focus on at this moment is our savior, uncle Stevie. After news broke that Jeff Wilpon hates Cohen's guts and that the ARod group was the favorite to win the bid, KFC and Clem weren't in the highest of spirits. They felt robbed of true happiness and were looking down the barrel of decades more mediocrity, that is, until it was revealed that not even ARod's people think he has a shot if uncle Stevie really wants this thing and BOY DOES HE. As a lifelong suffering Mets fan himself, Stevie told the people loud and clear that he's focused on winning and putting everything he's got behind it. Music to our ears and (soon to be) money in our payroll! Can we make the playoffs? Maybe. Are we going on hiatus now that the team is as hot as ever? Possibly. Will Uncle Stevie save us all? WE GOTTA BELIEVE.

The guys are bringing this episode to you with a warning. You may be flying high now, but this is the Mets we're talking about here so don't get it twisted. Fresh off TWO wins in a row (we win one more and that's called a winning streak) and fans are already in a back slide, thinking that this is the contender we were all hoping for!! Pete is coming out of his polar bear hibernation, gimme Gimmy is a stud, Conforto is the cornerstone and Dom and JD are our guys, but this is the outlier. Edwin Diaz has 2.45 ERA and Tomas Nido just hit 2 HRs and drove in 6 for Christ's sake! This is not the standard, this is the anomaly. We're not trying to stifle your hopes, we're just setting expectations. When this team is clicking they are down right scary, but you know what else is scary? A middle-of-the-way team at the trade deadline with Brodie Van Wagenen as your GM. Do you really want that guy with his finger on the nuclear button come August 31st? No. We've lost far too many prospects already and with Uncle Stevie hiding in the shadows, dropping his bid for the team on the same day, this whole thing could easily mean annihilation. Our Disney movie ending could turn into 'Reservoir Dogs' real quick so keep your eyes on the prize and enjoy the wins when they come cause we gotta believe that this will be the last year we will ever have to deal with any of this nonsense every again. After taking a night off we wanted to stay in Cuncelina, but this team just wouldn't let us. The Mets beat the Nationals 11-6 in a slugfest designed to get every Mets fan back on their side!! Top to bottom the order crushed, Alonso and Dom went back-to-back and we got great defensive plays out of Nimmo and Gimenez. For fans on the fence, we don't fault you for believing, but just know that they are building you up to break you down. On any given night this team can play with the best of them. They look complete and they do the things you need to do to win baseball games, only problem is the top performances are way too few and far between. So for now we'll tip our caps from Cuncelina and take the Ws when we can get them.

Mets beat the Marlins 8-4 in David Peterson's Citi Field debut. The lefty continues to show that he has what it takes to pitch in this rotation and despite a few early runs, settled down for the W!! JD Double Davis Davis extended his hit streak to 12 while driving in 4, Michael Conforto went big fly and Pete Alonso hit a baseball that went supersonic on its way to putting a hole in the outfield wall. When this team is clicking and the bullpen is solid its scary to think about what they are capable of, now it's just going to come down too consistency. We've got day game deGrom on the mound today so we'll just pray for runs and hope we can take the next step.
