    Grief Apr 04, 2022
    Show notes

Healthcare workers are at the forefront of diseases like pneumonia, COVID19, and heart conditions. But we are also a part of the process of recovery for grief. Grief is the response to loss, particularly to the loss of a loved one or some living thing that has died, to which a bond or affection was formed. The management of grief is not well taught in schools and is usually not explored due to the volume of other subjects.

To better help our patients recover and transition back to some semblance of normalcy, we must understand what grief feels like, what are its classifications and how it can manifest in patients. Join Dr. Niket Sonpal in this week's podcast in which we delve into this human condition and explore various models to understand our patients' pain. Moreover, we will also discuss what steps we can take to manage their symptoms and their suffering.

    A Bite About Bites Mar 21, 2022
    Show notes

In America alone, there are about 25 million human bites that occur each year. We will not only discuss human bites but also dog bites, some cute cat bites and other unusual bites you might encounter in the emergency room.

In this episode, we will talk about how to deal with human bites. Whether you only need to give local wound care versus when to consult a surgical team and/or when to use antibiotics.

Next is the difference between a dog bite and a cat bite such as the infection rate between the two, what kind of closure your patient will need and what kind of antibiotics to prescribe.

Once a history and physical is performed for your patient, that will also determine the course of action.
