    Mastermind Parenting Podcast

Welcome to Randi Rubenstein’s Mastermind Parenting Podcast. So, the big question is this – How do parents like us know that we aren’t messing up the biggest role of our lives, especially when we happen to have a strong-willed kiddo that is constantly pushing our buttons? We’ve all heard that kids don’t come with a manual, so how can we know for sure that we are saying the right things or that we’re getting this parenting thing right. On this podcast for parents of toddlers to teens, we’ll be giving you real tools you can use right away so that your kids will feel like they can talk to you about absolutely anything and everything. At Mastermind Parenting, we believe when your thoughts grow, the conversations in your home flow. This podcast will help you make a crucial shift in your home from the old lecturing style to convos that feel collaborative, connecting and most importantly…PRODUCTIVE.

MMP96: Top Tip to Diffuse a Potential Meltdown Jan 07, 2020
    Show notes

Our convo this week is about diffusing a potential meltdown when your kid is starting to spiral. This is a clip from a FB Live free training I made. I think you’ll enjoy the story about my crazy person moment from a trip last summer when some other hotel guests were making a mother truckload amount of noise in the hallway at 6 am. I become crazy when you wake my sleeping babies because guess who’s gonna have to deal with their foul moods all day. Me! That’s who. My teenagers are far from cranky toddlers but this mama bear still gets nutso. Who can relate?

    MMP93: Are You A Controlling Parent? Dec 17, 2019
    Show notes

On the podcast this week, I’m sharing an audio I made for my Mastermind about a talk I had just attended where Gloria Steinem spoke. It’s stream of consciousness style and it really got me thinking about how prevalent the threads of “control” are within our society. I think you’ll particularly like my personal story about a recent time when I found myself being a controlling mom. Enjoy!

MMP89: Practicing What We Preach Nov 19, 2019
    Show notes

This week’s convo is about parenting hypocrisy. Recently, a mom shared with me all the “aha’s” she and her husband were having re: their expectations for their kids and the realization that they weren’t holding themselves to the same standard. As I like to say, “Model the behavior you seek”, and this mom was able to have a truly self-aware moment. More frequently than she’d probably care to admit, she was not modeling the calm reasonable behavior she expected from her kids. What about you? It takes confidence to cop to your own hypocrisy...AND it feels like a relief to finally loosen the perfectionist chains that often enslave us. Being a human is messy business and no one is perfect.
