Gender Roles As Parents Jun 12, 2018
    Show notes

How do you navigate gender roles in marriage? So often the first question people ask is:

    "What do you do?"

But, how do you identify yourself when your work does not bring in a paycheck? Is there an antagonist in your life that is creating pain - or that define what your social expectations are?

Let's explore gender roles, and why we don't believe they are as clear-cut as the 1920s mindset.

You know what? we have a lot of THINGS - but travel - adventure - is about so much more than accumulating more stuff. I asked my 5 year old what we should talk about as our final wrap up for this "Seek Adventure Together" series, and she said "I know! Let's talk about love, and friendship!" So in this final wrap-up, we're going to address the issue of stuff bogging us down as well as Juliet's favorite subjects, love and friendship! We'll tackle questions like: I don't know what to bring - I have too much stuff! How do you make time for intimacy on the road? What about rainy days? How do you handle sibling spats and tension? How do you plan for everything? For the full show notes with all the awesome links, go to www.MamaSaysNamaste.com/podcast-less-stuff

How Will You Pay For The Party? May 22, 2018
    Show notes

When you are planning a trip, travel expenses can loom large over you. But it doesn't have to be that way. Listen to the Mama Says Namaste Podcast to learn how you can pay for the party.

We live at our max income. We tend to live at full expense and it takes up all our time.

Many people take no care of their money until they come nearly to the end of it. And others do just the same with their time." Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, (born August 28, 1749, Frankfurt am Main [Germany]—died March 22, 1832, Weimar, Saxe-Weimar), German poet, playwright, novelist, scientist, statesman, theatre director, critic, and amateur artist, considered the greatest German literary figure of the modern era.

It goes back to the mindset piece. People work with their heads down, banking on the time they will have "one day." Others are incapable of planning, simply having life just happen to them without any intention whatsoever.

How to Create the Ultimate Family Road Trip...without going broke or crazy: www.90DayFamilyRoadTrip.com/webinar

    Ways to leverage your income:

AirBnB your home - are you okay with someone having sex in your bed?

Think outside of the box on how you may pay for something -

What can you downsize? Sell on Craigslist, Amazon, Facebook, etc, swap out kids clothes on consignment, have a yard sale.

    Volunteer, Workkamp, Woofing

What commodities do you have you can sell? Your services or your things?

This is a great opportunity to explore something on the side - your "side hustle" or expounding on your hobby and selling it.

What can you create into a recurring income - you produce it once and it continues to create money for you.

Explore a rideshare - can you pick up Lyft/Uber to do on the side? This is a great chance to meet people, potentially expand your business, and allow for some side income.

Don't just shoot it down as "I can't afford it." Start with the mindset - look at what emotions you want to feel. Start looking right now at what opportunities might be right under your nose.

Involve your kids in this process - let them know the expenses and brainstorm together on how EVERYONE can be invested in the process. Let this be a learning opportunity. Put up a chart on the wall to track your progress. Get excited together.

Money is only a limitation if you allow it to be. Speak your successes into a reality. It's amazing when you start to speak it into your life, how much it opens up the opportunities to make it happen. Calculate the cost and do steps back to see how much you need to save a week

Check out Robert Kiyosaki's book, "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" https://amzn.to/2LmkCzd - and while you're at it, explore the Cashflow game as well. http://amzn.to/2zLA6XO

Don't be your own limiting belief. There is such power in perspective and what "rich" means to you. Create your own happiness and choose to keep it at the forefront.

Speak the Law of Attraction on a regular basis. It's not "we can't afford that," it's "how can we make this happen?" Look at "is this a worthwhile investment?"

Your challenge - look at what you're dreaming of doing, and get down to the finances. Don't say, "I can't afford it", but, "is this a worthwhile investment?" Adventure starts with a mindset.

    Adventure is a mindset May 15, 2018
    Show notes

When does your adventure start? Are you ready for vacation? I have a secret- it's not about where you go. It starts, my friends, between your own two ears. Adventure is a mindset.

    The Power of Perspective
    1. Check Your Approach

Pay attention to your expectations, your perspective, and your attitude. If you are tense and frustrated and not communicating well, it doesn't really matter where you are - it's going to be a stressful vacation. Check out this guided meditation to help you get in the right mindset.Check Your Approach

    2. Simplify

Pull out the big dream. Look at your family vision and think about your bucket list items as well as the feelings behind the trip you're imagining. Look at the big vacations, and explore the tiny "staycations."

Get your mind right - your great experience is between your own two ears.

Determine what feeling you want to create to clarify why

Once you have this mindset in place, determine what you want to accomplish and work backwards from there. Reduce it down to what one thing you can do today to make this happen.

Dumb it down to something you can do immediately to pick away at it.

    2. Look for your own Acres of Diamonds

Check out the Acres of Diamonds story.

Plan an adventure in your own hometown. Check out Lets Travel Family for some great ideas to get you started.

Plan a vacation and share what you are doing!

Toddlers, Travel, and Transportation May 01, 2018
    Show notes

If you're looking at long trips with toddlers, this may be the episode for you. Figuring out how to navigate public transportation or long car rides can be difficult, especially when you have multiple children with different attention spans in the car. Here are our tips to make transportation a bit easier...

Be open - whatever mode you choose that transports your family on an adventure together. Adventure is a mindset.

Here are tips from the podcast:

Ways to get there with your family:

There are many different modes of transportation: car, RV, train, bus, plane, boat, biking, hiking

Know your family's personality styles so you are prepared for what they need to thrive.

In order to get out the door, make sure you:
    • Always go to the bathroom first.
    • Hair combed, clean clothes, shoes on.
    • Have a spare outfit complete with shoes in the car.
Tips for driving in the car with kids:
    • To make car travel easier communicate how long our trip will be. Share it in how many hours/minutes left, or how many miles.
    • Plot out your stops before you go - like every hour we'll take a break, or you'll stop for lunch halfway through, etc.
Tips to entertain kids while traveling:
    • Audio books
    • People-Watching
    • License plate/ABC games
    • "Busy Bag" - layer the toys so they aren't delivered all at once
    • Silencing headphones for those kids who need silence to concentrate (or sleep)
Traveling with kids on public transit:
    • Silent observation - prepare before to have kids people-watch and soak in what they see without saying anything - debrief AFTER
    • This may be a great time to have your kids plugged in to technology - keeps their hands off of other things. Make this the exception, not the norm.
Traveling with kids on a plane:
    • "Busy Bag" complete with gum, rare toys/entertainment, blanket/lovey
    • Separation between parents helps - a resting row and a playing row.
    • Get to know your neighbors! Break the ice before your child breaks it for you in a less than friendly way.
    Your Challenge This Week:

Plan a simple adventure with your family for next week - one afternoon, day, etc to explore in your hometown.
