Kevin Durant sets the tone for the season at Brooklyn Nets Media Day Sep 27, 2022
    Show notes

Kevin Durant was the first to speak at Nets Media Day and really set the tone for what’s to come over the course of this season. He talked about the trade demands over the summer, what led him to that place, and why he was at odds a bit with management. But there was also talk of getting back on the same page and what the Nets have set out to accomplish this season. It was a refreshingly honest take from Durant and a look into what’s gone on with this team over the last year or so.

    Show notes

When the NBA players get ranked, seeing where Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons fall on the list becomes priority one. Doug Norrie and Adam Armbrecht discuss where the superstars fall but also outline what their key factors for player rankings would be. Talent alone cannot carry you to the top of the list - playoff success, consistency and versatility all hold weight in the great top talent debate.

Identifying "X" factors: Which player can help the Brooklyn Nets succeed this season? Sep 23, 2022
    Show notes

The Brooklyn Nets are poised to get back on track in 2022 and Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons set to handle the star power. However it is not simply the top-end talent that brings a championship to an organization. Before the guys tap into potential contributors set for big roles, Adam throws a crew ball at Doug and asks how "bullish" he is on the Nets success this year. On paper, its a slam dunk... but that paper has lied in recent seasons.

When looking at the current 15-man roster, Doug sees Markieff Morris as veteran with the plug and play skill to bring a physical and emotional presence to the Nets bench. Adam can't help but highlight Yuta Watanabe who seemingly does a little bit of all the things Brooklyn wants from a bench wing.

In a somewhat surprising twist when Adam turns his attention to Day'ron Sharpe, Doug Norrie just might agree that the second year big can have an expanded roll in 2022.

Yuta Watanabe: under the radar role player with the perfect skill-set for the Brooklyn Nets Sep 22, 2022
    Show notes

Adam Armbrecht is back talking all things Brooklyn Nets basketball, and on today's show he just may have had a revelation! Yuta Watanabe does not have the stat lines to wow Nets fans, and yet Adam sees a skill-set destined to fill a void for this roster.

The value of player with superstar talents like Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons cannot be overlooked. With enough length, athleticism and shooting talent - Yuta Watanabe just might be the next fan favorite in the making!

The Nets will improve this season just by who doesn't play Sep 21, 2022
    Show notes

Doug Norrie of the Locked on Nets podcast takes a look at last season’s minutes for the Brooklyn Nets and just how crazy some of the final numbers looked. Patty Mills led the team in run by hundreds of minutes and more than half of the team’s play was taken up by players over 33 years old or under 22 years old. Just by default, the season is setting up significantly better in terms of playing time, and on that alone, there’s room for lots of optimism.

A big by any other name? Why the Brooklyn Nets need to be selective in adding size Sep 19, 2022
    Show notes

Adam Armbrecht hops on the podcast to discuss the Nets need for more size. He highlights that no one player is going to be an "Embiid stopper" and there should be a bigger importance on team and role fit.

Creating rotation redundancies means consistency around Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Consistency also affords specialized players like perimeter shooter Joe Harris or swiss army defensive weapon Nicolas Claxton to lock into what they do best.

Where do the Brooklyn Nets rank with championship odds, win totals and more? Sep 16, 2022
    Show notes

The Nets are a team that will open the season with Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Ben Simmons on the court with an improved bench as well. So where does BetOnline rank the team in terms of championship odds, win totals, or to make/ miss the playoffs?

Doug Norrie takes a look at these numbers and delves into the cases for and against each, why the Nets could be values on different sides of the ledger. Are the numbers correct or have the markets misevaluated the Nets as a team heading into this season

Should the Nets be worried about the beginning of the season schedule? Sep 14, 2022
    Show notes

With the offseason still moving along it’s time to go back and look at the NBA schedule which was released a couple of weeks ago to examine how things stack up early for the Brooklyn Nets. Doug Norrie looks at the first five games on the schedule to see if there are potential issues for this team with the way things open up. It isn’t an easy stretch of games for the team and they will have to face five teams who were in the playoffs last season, one of whom might be much better this season. There’s talk about what this means for Brooklyn and how it could be one of the most important stretches of games this season.

What NBA teams had the most disappointing offseason? Does it help the Nets? Sep 13, 2022
    Show notes

After discussing teams like the Philadelphia 76ers and other squads who didn’t trade for Kevin Durant in the offseason, the Locked on Nets guys take a look at other groups that didn’t do enough. They start with the New York Knicks who seemed closed to trading for Donovan Mitchell until the Cleveland Cavaliers were able to acquire the star guard. They also look at the Dallas Mavericks who didn’t seem to do much to bolster the team around Luka Doncic.

And finally, they discuss the report that the Golden State Warriors actively discussed trading for Kevin Durant in the offseason as well.
