Brooklyn Nets add Markieff Morris, look to build reliable NBA rotation ahead of season Aug 31, 2022

The Brooklyn Nets continued the post-Kevin Durant beef era by adding veteran experience to their roster. Make no mistake, Markieff Morris will not be running 30 plus minutes in Brooklyn this season, and the Nets do not need the 33-year old small ball five to do so. What they have added is a veteran presence with a reliable skill set and a chip on his shoulder when he plays, something this team needs.

Adam highlights the facets of his game that can compliment this roster and bring consistency from the starting unit into the bench players. He also discusses how a camp contract for Yuta Watanabe is symbolic of the Nets willingness to look at players who bring size and length to a roster that desperately lacked those elements last year.

The impact that, regardless of expectation, that size brings to Brooklyn is affording players like Joe Harris to do less defensively and focus on their roles. While the final 15-man roster may still see a few more adjustments, the path to the regular season is already being paved for more stable footing.

The Kevin Durant trade market is alive and well. The question now, is when will teams stop dipping their toes in the water and dive in? Adam Armbrecht takes a look at the latest Shams Charania article for The Athletic which among others, discusses the Memphis Grizzlies discuss a trade for the soon to be 34-year old Kevin Durant.

A package mostly about draft picks will not excite the Nets fanbase, or Sean Marks for that matter but it does highlight the asset value equation that teams must do. Adam highlights that while the perfect deal has not been offered, as more time passes more more teams are coming to table.

Adam also notes the Atlanta Hawks package, discussed in the article as well, which along with the Boston Celtics seemingly puts a realistic floor on the market. Now, it is simply the matter an extra pick here, a prospect there from the trade buzz to really hit full tilt.
