Locked On Nets - Daily Podcast On The Brooklyn Nets

Latest Episodes:

Cameron Johnson's market could make things very tricky for the Brooklyn Nets Jun 02, 2023

Show notes

With the Monty Williams hiring in Detroit, there is increased speculation that the Pistons could make a run at Cameron Johnson as a restricted free agent this off season. If that’s the case, then Sean Marks and the Brooklyn Nets could find themselves in a somewhat tricky situation around what to do with the small forward.

If Detroit got into the mix, would Johnson be incentivized to go and play with his ex-Suns coach? Monty Williams has been very complimentary of him in the past. Could the Nets explore a sign and trade here? Or would the Cameron Johnson market be proof that Brooklyn should pay top dollar to retain his services? There’s a lot to consider with this situation.

Have the Nuggets and Heat given the Nets a blueprint for how to build going forward? Jun 01, 2023

Show notes

With the NBA Finals starting on Thursday, the Locked on Nets guys take a look at both teams and what the Nets can learn from each on future roster building and management. Both the Nuggets and the Heat provide a window into teams that have clearly stayed the course organizationally, building around not only superstars but a mindset and structure as well. It is something the Nets seemed to be on the path for over the course of a few years, but have clearly strayed.

What lessons can Sean Marks and company take going into their own plans this summer and beyond when it comes to guys like Mikal Bridges, Ben Simmons, Cameron Johnson and even Ben Simmons? Do the Nets even have a long range plan for success?

Nets draft: Is Keyonte George worth trading up for? May 31, 2023

Show notes

The Nets have some draft decisions to make coming up, whether it be standing pat, trading up, or packaging picks for another player. The Locked on Nets guys take a look at three players falling into different ranges of this year’s draft. The first is Keyonte George who is expected to go higher than the Nets actually pick. Could Brooklyn look to trade up for this combo guard from Baylor and would this represent the right kind of move for the team?

They also look at Leonard Miller from G-League Unite and whether his length and athleticism would translate early for Brooklyn. Could he be just the right guy to fall into the Nets' 21st pick?

And then there is Noah Clowney from Alabama who is expected to go in the mid-20s. Is this the kind of big who would solve some of the Nets’ issues on the interior?

Rafael Barlowe breaks down NBA prospects on the Brooklyn Nets Draft Board May 29, 2023

Show notes

Adam is joined by NBA Big Board host Rafael Barlowe to discuss the upcoming NBA Draft. The Nets currently hold the 21st and 22nd picks but could have potential options to move up the board. Rafael breaks down the value of moving up to draft Anthony Black or Nick Smith Jr.

They also discuss backcourt prospects moving towards the twenties in Jalen Hood-Schifino and Kobe Bufkin who Rafael believes has all the necessary tools to be a quality PG at the NBA level.

After highlighting Derek Lively II and GG Jackson as two players under the combine and pro day microscope, the discussion turns to Rayan Rupert. Rafael Barlowe directly discussed with the French-born prospect the different style of play he showcased, and why the all-around game is ready for the NBA.

Adam closes out the discussion on two fan requested prospects - most notably Sidy Cissoko, who Rafael Barlowe believes has first round value for the Brooklyn Nets.

The Brooklyn Nets cannot afford to overpay Cameron Johnson this summer May 24, 2023

Show notes

With Cameron Johnson a restricted free agent going into this off-season, the Nets have some possibly tough decisions to make about the wing who came over with Mikal Bridges in the Kevin Durant trade with the Suns. There is word that some other teams, including the Houston Rockets, could be interested in signing Johnson as a free agent. And that could really drive the price up.

The Locked on Nets guys, Adam Armbrecht and Doug Norrie, take a look at the situation with Cameron Johnson and how the Nets should approach it. How does his friendship with Mikal Bridges factor in? Is the dip in three-point shooting a concern? What about his age? There is a lot to unpack when it comes to resigning Cameron Johnson this summer.

Could the Nets and Rockets be headed to another deal this off-season? May 23, 2023

Show notes

Doug Norrie of Locked on Nets and Jackson Gatlin of Locked on Rockets get together for a crossover podcast to discuss the off-seasons for both teams. Could we see something similar to the James Harden-Nets trade from a couple of years ago, but this time the Nets send the players back to Houston?

There are a number of possibilities on the table with Mikal Bridges very much a topic of conversation for a number of different teams, Houston included. With the Rockets owning the Brooklyn picks for a couple of years, could there be a deal where the Nets reset things, get their picks back and fully start over?

Plus, where does Ben Simmons land in all of this? And could Houston even have interest in Nic Claxton as well?

The Brooklyn Nets have a clear Draft path in the Mikal Bridges era May 22, 2023

Show notes

Adam Armbrecht discusses the clear objectives the Brooklyn Nets should have ahead of next months NBA draft.

Mikal Bridges, along with other key figures, represent the short-term future of the Brooklyn Nets. With that in mind, Sean Marks objective must be to get younger and more skilled around their new star. The question is how willing are the Nets to attach assets to bad contracts, trade competent veterans, or move aggressively up the board on draft night?
