Howard Beck: Tyler Herro, Ben Simmons, and Sean Marks steady offseason approach. Jul 07, 2023

Show notes

Howard Beck is back once again to continue the Nets offseason conversation. Adam examines the viability of Nets being a third team in Damian Lillard talks, and where the league stands on Ben Simmons.

They then discuss the additions of Dennis Smith Jr. and Lonnie Walker IV, who represent the methodical side of Sean Marks Free Agency approach.

If setting a high price for Dorian Finney-Smith and Royce O'Neale felt like a mistake, Howard Beck reminds Nets fans as Free Agency winds down there will be teams that missed out on the veteran wing needs.

Finally, Howard offers a somewhat different take on where the Nets currently stand at the Center position as it relates to their timeline, and why the rotation may look far more familiar than fans might want.

Could the Nets actually include Ben Simmons in a Damian Lillard trade? Jul 05, 2023

Show notes

With the Damian Lillard potential trade out of Portland possibly slowing down its momentum in the short-term, there have been some rumblings that Ben Simmons could possibly be included in a deal that would involve the Blazers, Nets, and Heat.

It’s an interesting discussion about Ben Simmons and his value (or lack thereof) right now and what it would take to move off the contract. Are there worlds where the Nets shouldn’t actually do it and instead play it out over the next couple of seasons.

Where do Portland and Miami stand in this as well and what is the status of the Ben Simmons contract as it stands today?

Brooklyn Nets sign Lonnie Walker. What does this mean for Cam Thomas and others? Jul 04, 2023

Show notes

The Brooklyn Nets made another free agent move on Sunday, this time signing Lonnie Walker to a one-year deal. He is coming off a solid season with the Los Angeles Lakers and should provide more back court depth for this team.

The Locked on Nets guys break down the signing and what to expect from Lonnie Walker on this team. What does this mean for Cam Thomas’s playing going forward and does this signing mean that the Nets might be moving off any deal for Damian Lillard or Tyler Herro?

Plus they discuss how the early moves from the Nets have made the team much younger in the short term.

Nets Free Agency: Add Dennis Smith Jr,, trade Patty Mills and more Jul 03, 2023

Show notes

The Nets were moderately active in free agency, signing Cam Johnson to a 4-year contract while also trading away Joe Harris in a salary dump on the first day. But they made some other moves over the weekend with the news that they had traded Patty Mills to Houston in another move to shed salary.

They also signed free agent point guard Dennis Smith Jr. as well and he will have a chance at a backup role in Brooklyn. The Locked on Nets guys take a look at these moves and what they mean for the team while also speculating on other moves that could happen in the coming days.

Damian Lillard requests trade. Are Nets in for Tyler Herro now? Jul 02, 2023

Show notes

With Damian Lillard finally (officially) asking for a trade from the Portland Trailblazers, the landscape in the NBA around the superstar point guard has once again shifted. While it seems like the Miami Heat are his preferred destination, there are still ways the Nets could work into this mix.

Would Brooklyn be part of a three-team trade involving Miami and Portland, and could one of the pieces coming be in the form of Tyler Herro? The Locked on Nets guys break down the situation from the Brooklyn perspective and what the potential addition of Herro could look like.

Breaking News: Cameron Johnson signs four year $108m contract and remains with the Brooklyn Nets! Jun 30, 2023

Show notes

Cameron Johnson hit the Free Market at exactly the right time. As Free Agency approached the 7 o'clock hour, the news broke on the $26.5m AAV return of Johnson to the Brooklyn Nets. Adam discusses if the dollar amount is too high for the 27 year old wing, and why it does not matter in the spectrum of the Nets short-term future.

Early in the day Joe Harris was sent to Detroit with two future second picks to clear his salary and create a $19.9m TPE that Sean Marks can utilize through the upcoming season's trade deadline. This afforded the Nets to keep their salary cap relatively in-line while re-signing Cameron Johnson.

The question now becomes will the Nets look to shed additional contracts, and what other Free Agents could be in their plans? Adam offers his short list of options while also clearly stating the elevated expectations for Cameron Johnson going forward.

NBA Rumors: Tre Jones, Coby White, Grant Williams and Kelly Oubre headline Nets Free Agent Market Jun 30, 2023

Show notes

Free Agency is hours away and the Nets have clear needs, and avenues, to improve their roster. This time Adam is looking at the backcourt where Brooklyn still needs a full time point guard, and potential Forwards on the market that would improve Brooklyn's rebounding and perimeter shooting.

The pre-Free Agency frenzy already put a few surprising names on to the unrestricted market, and while the Nets could use starting or high-end rotation players, the Nets should also be looking at young players like Kira Lewis Jr.

Show notes

Adam discusses the latest "big name" rumor to surface around the Brooklyn Nets. Karl Anthony-Towns is playmaking Big who would obviously improve the Nets team but there are restrictions around pursuing a player like this in both the short and long term.

Beyond the rumor-mill Adam highlights several potential fits on the Free Agent market to compliment Nicolas Claxton and further balance the Nets offensive unit.
