Jacque Vaughn returning and Nets team stability Jul 01, 2021
    Show notes

Jacque Vaughn is coming back as the lead assistant coach for another season with the Brooklyn Nets and the guys talk about what this, seemingly minor, move means for the teams, the superstars of Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving moving into next season. It's another theme of stability for the team moving into next year with Brooklyn actually having very few question marks leading into the season. The guys talk about what Vaughn has meant for the team and why bringing him back is so important.

They also look at some of the other teams around the league and how the Nets compare in terms of questions to answer. On that front, things are looking very good for Brooklyn.

Nets injury woes and is this an asterisk NBA season? Jun 30, 2021
    Show notes

Injuries ended up costing the Brooklyn Nets a championship. That much appears clear at this point. If James Harden and/ or Kyrie Irving had been healthy it looks like they could have walked to an NBA championship. The guys look at this from a Nets perspective and how it’s factored into the league as a whole now. Because the injuries have reached a critical mass with both Trae Young and Giannis Antetokounmpo getting hurt in this latest series. The latter looks like he just may have a series ACL injury.

Adam Armbrecht and Doug Norrie break this down, how the Nets factor in here, whether this is an asterisk season for the league, the brutal injuries and what it means for the quality of basketball.

Kevin Durant owns Twitter Jun 29, 2021
    Show notes

The Locked on Nets guys get on to talk about the NBA and Nets offseason. They have to discuss the recent appearance from Kevin Durant on Twitter over the weekend that had him responding to some critics as well as possible false narratives from reporters. The guys first discuss how he came back at Scottie Pippen for the latter deriding KD's performance at the end of the Bucks' series. And then they talk about Jackie MacMullan's comments about Durant and his response.

The guys talk about how it's refreshing for Kevin Durant to respond this way and why these kind of narratives continue to come up around the superstar.

Why Steve Nash was a great hire for the Nets Jun 25, 2021
    Show notes

The Locked on Nets guys are back with another Brooklyn Nets podcast about the team as we truck through the offseason. The guys start off talking about the lingering disappointment from the Nets losing the second-round series, especially after watching Game 1 of Bucks-Hawks. But then they get into the coaching of Steve Nash and why, when other teams with disappointing exits have questions around their coach, the Nets don’t.

There’s so much context here and they explore why in a tumultuous off-season already, the Nets have none of those questions. And finally, they compare that situation to the one in Dallas with the recent hiring of ex-Net Jason Kidd.

James Harden opts out of Olympics and Nets coaching staff changes Jun 24, 2021
    Show notes

It’s a packed podcast with the guys rolling through a bunch of Nets news that keeps coming throughout the offseason. First off, they talk about James Harden opting into the Olympics and then almost immediately opting out to rehab the hamstring injury. The guys weigh in on the decision and why it is these guys are so incentivized to continue playing for USA basketball.

And then they get into the Nets’ coaching piece with Ime Oduka being hired as the new head coach of the Boston Celtics. It’s definitely a loss for the Nets with Oduka credited for the defensive scheme and almost universally praised for his abilities. The Celtics get a great hire, but he will be missed on the sidelines for Brooklyn. They also discuss Jacque Vaughn and Mike D’Antoni being thrown out there for positions as well.

Spencer Dinwiddie opting out? Jun 23, 2021
    Show notes

It’s Spencer Dinwiddie time with the Locked on Nets guys talking about the point guard and what he means for the Net’s future. This comes on the heels of Dinwiddie saying that he would be opting out of his player option for next year. This leads to a cascading effect for the Nets and what it means for their future. What will the Nets do with Dinwiddie and will they be able to sign and trade him?

Additionally, what is Dinwiddie’s value to the Nets compared to other teams in the league? That is a central question to what happens with the Nets’ star in the off-season. The guys get into all of this and more on the episode and more.

Joe Harris, role players and more thoughts on Game 7 Jun 22, 2021
    Show notes

The Locked on Nets guys take a closer look at Game 7 against the Milwaukee Bucks and the various performances beyond just Kevin Durant. They see if there is anything to take away from the play of James Harden who actually looked like he was getting healthier even if the inefficiency was still there.

And they also take a deeper dive on the play of Joe Harris over the last five games of this series. They discuss his struggles and what he means for the team overall. They look at the contract, his quotes and how this game could be an inflection point for the sharpshooter.

And finally, there’s talk about the other roles players like Blake Griffin, Bruce Brown and Jeff Green with the idea that their future in Brooklyn is uncertain.

Nets fall in Game 7, Kevin Durant's historic performance and more Jun 21, 2021
    Show notes

It was a very tough Game 7 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks in a game that went to overtime. The guys wax on the loss and how it really did come down to such a disappointing way to end the season. They look back on the year briefly and how the Nets' season played out. They talk about how the Nets always seemed to be just a step away from the vision with injuries really rearing their ugly head along the way. And then they talk about Kevin Durant's historic performance over this series, solidifying himself as the best player in basketball. It was a testament to his greatness that he came up short in the overtime but Nets fans completely understood. They talk about all of this and more.

Kevin Durant scores 32, but the Nets lose Game 6 Jun 18, 2021
    Show notes

It’s a tough loss for the Brooklyn Nets in Game 6 in one that they never looked fully engaged. The Bucks got out to a hot start early and it was always just a bit too much for the Nets to keep up with. While Kevin Durant did establish plenty of scoring, Brooklyn got almost nothing from the role players at all.

James Harden did look a bit healthier which is an encouraging sign leading into Game 7, but they will need to get more from everyone else. Doug Norrie and Adam Armbrecht take a look at the game, some of the things that went wrong, and few positives to take before going into the deciding game.

Then they look at what the Milwaukee Bucks did in Game 5 that contributed to the Nets winning the game. There were some major mistakes made by that helped Brooklyn take full advantage.

And finally they look ahead to Game 6 and what the Nets should expect, what Joe Harris needs to do and much more.
