    Show notes

The Locked on Nets guys are back for Tuesday’s episode, this time talking about the latest report from The Athletic’s Shams Charania about the situation with Kyrie Irving. While light on actual specifics, the article suggested there could be some movement with him returning to the team. It’s hard to know how this would take form, but there seemed to be a sentiment that there was “optimism” around this idea. The guys take a look at the situation and what it could mean for the team.

They debate the idea of being a part-time player and what that would mean from both a logistical and also a team level. It’s a wide-ranging discussion in which they ask as many questions as they answer. Could Kyrie Irving return and if so, what would the situation look like?

Kevin Durant drops 51 as Nets win in Detroit, reminding everyone he is the best player in the NBA Dec 13, 2021
    Show notes

Kevin Durant put on a show in Detroit on Sunday, scoring 51 points and leading the Nets to a win over the Detroit Pistons. With James Harden sitting out, Durant was in full takeover mode from the start. There was no confusion about the Nets’ game plan here and KD was up to the task. But things really got going in the 4th when the Nets erased a Pistons’ lead and dialed up the defense. The group of Durant, Mills, Brown, Thomas, and Claxton closed the whole fourth and were dominant on both ends of the court. The Locked on Nets guys break down the game, Durant’s performance, and what it means to have such a great player on the team.

Worst loss of the season? Without Kevin Durant, Nets lose to Rockets Dec 09, 2021
    Show notes

After a great win over the Mavericks on Tuesday night, the Brooklyn Nets followed that up by losing a tough one to the Houston Rockets. Sure, the Nets were without Kevin Durant and LaMarcus Aldridge who rested on the second half of the back-to-back, but this still felt like one they should have pulled out. James Harden went back to Houston and played a game much like he used to in his days with the Rockets. He basically needed to considering the Nets’ personnel for the game.

The Nets went with a new starting lineup, but leaned into the rookies as well with Cam Thomas and David Duke Jr. getting extended run. But it wasn’t enough and the Nets came up short.

Kevin Durant and the Nets are automatic late, win nail-biter over Mavericks Dec 08, 2021
    Show notes

The Brooklyn Nets won a big one on the road over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday in a game that very much had a playoff feel to it. Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Patty Mills were able to lead a fourth-quarter charge on offense that helped erase a double-digit Mavs lead. Kevin Durant played the entire second half in an interesting move by Nash and company. They dialed it up on that end and the defensive end as well with Nic Claxton and James Johnson coming off the bench for excellent efforts that helped slow down the Dallas attack. In all, this was a complete win for Brooklyn who bounced back from a tough loss to Chicago on Saturday. The Locked on Nets guys are breaking the whole thing down on the podcast.

    Show notes

The Locked on Nets guys are back on a Monday, this time breaking down the weekend for Brooklyn on the hardcourt. It was a mixed bag with a win over the Timberwolves on Friday but then a loss to the Bulls on Saturday. Maybe it was the second half of the back-to-back that got them, or maybe there are other issues going on here. The guys discuss what happened in both games and how the Nets continue to play Kevin Durant and James Harden some ridiculous minutes this season.

They also talk about how defenses have approached the Nets a bit differently in the short term as well. It’s a packed podcast that had the guys looking at the two games, Harden’s struggles, the shape of the team right now, and much more.

Should the Nets trade Kyrie Irving? Plus, Paul Millsap deserves more run Dec 03, 2021
    Show notes

On Friday’s episode, Doug Norrie discusses the recent reports from Shams Charania of The Athletic that the situation on Kyrie Irving hasn’t changed though the team has been open to a trade for the superstar. There’s a discussion about what, if any, path there is for the Nets in this situation and what they should think about doing movie forward. There are many factors at play.

Plus Doug looks at last game for Paul Millsap and what happened in those minutes. It was a mixed bag, though there are, for sure, signs of positivity in his game. And there clearly is a case to play him more minutes in the short and long term. They go play-by-play through his defensive sequences to outline why he has been such a plus on that end.

Big Apple rivalry. Nets beat the Knicks with James Harden early and Kevin Durant late Dec 01, 2021
    Show notes

It was everything you want in a basketball game. The Nets and Knicks traded blows in a game of runs that had the Nets ultimately come out on top. James Harden was fully in his bag early looking like the guy the Nets had out there last season. He was able to pour in the scoring for the first half, taking it to the Knicks on the perimeter and also getting to the line a ton.

Kevin Durant struggled early in this game, but pulled it together when it mattered most, finishing with 27 points thanks to a strong 4th quarter. Doug Norrie gets into all of it on the podcast, talking about how the Nets combined their two superstars’ efforts into a win for the team.
