    Show notes

After a Shams Charania report that the 76ers would be targeting James Harden in the offseason, the Locked on Nets guys look at the situation surrounding the Beard and what the future looks like for him in Brooklyn. But would he really want to leave to go somewhere else? It could end up being the most important ongoing story for the rest of this year and into the offseason. The guys discuss what these reports mean, what it would look like for Harden to stay/ leave, and why fans should be paying attention to the situation.

Ugly game in Minnesota highlighted by Harden struggles, fouls and rotation decisions Jan 24, 2022
    Show notes

The Nets closed out their four game road trip in disgusting fashion, losing 136-125 to the Timberwolves. Adam discusses the struggles for James Harden, specifically his inability to shift to another facet of his game. Kessler Edwards early foul trouble highlighted not only the thin depth currently on this roster but also the rookie's incredible value to this team, especially in the absence of Kevin Durant and Joe Harris. Lastly, Adam looks at the Steve Nash decision making following LaMarcus Aldridge picking up his sixth foul. While rookie Day'ron Sharpe has not been without his growing pains, inserting James Johnson to a "small ball" lineup and facing the task of Karl-Anthony Towns certainly seemed to see the Nets fate.

Kyrie Irving rolls early, Aldridge delivers late. Nets beat Wizards in big win Jan 20, 2022
    Show notes

The Nets survived a late-game comeback by the Washington Wizards to take a 119-118 win on the road without Kevin Durant. It was an important win for the team and they got a great game from Kyrie Irving who finished with 30 points on 12-23 shooting. They also got a huge performance from LaMarcus Aldridge off the bench who put up 27 points in his 32 minutes. Brooklyn stormed out of the gate early, putting up 74 points by halftime to jump out to a double-digit lead. But things did get a bit bogged down in the second half, allowing the Wizards to pull back into the game. And things got really hectic at the end with the Nets barely surviving.

The Locked on Nets guys break down the game, Irving’s performance, and what it meant to have Aldridge come up big when they needed him the most. They look at Steve Nash’s shortened rotations and how the team was able to survive an off game from James Harden.

Kyrie Irving's post-game comments plus Nets' possibly decreasing playoff chances? Jan 19, 2022
    Show notes

The Locked on Nets guys go through the comments from Kyrie Irving following the loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday. They went a long way in at least clarifying his position going forward for the team and the likelihood of him coming back to play home games for the team under the current conditions.

After that, the guys go through what this next stretch of games looks like for the team and why Nets fans should be looking a little more closely at the playoff scene in the Eastern Conference. It’s an interesting situation now to say the least with more teams fighting for seeding than there are slots. The guys go through the situation with Adam working to lay out a case to Doug why there is nothing to worry about.

    Show notes

The Nets played their first game since Kevin Durant sprained his knee, and they went road for an afternoon game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. They also discuss the play of the rookies Kessler Edwards and Dayron Sharpe, both of who had strong outings in this one.

Time to panic? Kevin Durant sprains knee, out at least 4-6 weeks Jan 17, 2022
    Show notes

The Nets won their game on Saturday against the Pelicans, but that was far from the story. That’s because all eyes were on Kevin Durant who was injured during the game. He had his knee knocked on a defensive play and left the game. The team released a report on the injury and it turns out he has an MCL sprain and will now miss the next 4-6 weeks. It’s a major blow for the team who seemed like they were just about to enter a stretch with the Big 3 playing more together.

The Locked on Nets guys discuss the injury and what it means on both a macro and micro level. What do the Nets do in the short and long term without their best player?

    Show notes

The Nets played their 41st game of the year on Thursday, a loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. They were without Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, Patty Mills, and others for this one. Was it ideal? No, but this was also the team’s fifth game in seven nights which also included a ton of travel along the way. The Locked on Nets guys used the moment to look back at the first half of the season for the team and evaluate how things have gone to this point.

Considering all of the context around the team, are we happy with where the Nets are at this point? What have been some of the biggest surprises and disappointments with the squad? Why players have stood out and who has left a lot to be desired? It’s a full, half-season check-in on a team still very much playing for an NBA championship.

The Nets Big 3 play championship basketball in blowout win over Chicago Jan 13, 2022
    Show notes

What a win by the Nets over the Bulls on Wednesday. They put everything together just when the team needed it the most in a statement victory over a Chicago team that was sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference. With Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving all playing, it was easy to see why this squad is still the favorite to win the championship. They pulled away with a huge third quarter that saw them go on a 30-8 run and essentially end if for the Bulls.

The Locked on Nets guys discuss the Scary Hours Big 3 as well as the adjustment Steve Nash made to put Kessler Edwards and Day’Ron Sharpe into the starting lineup. Plus, Brooklyn got great contributions off the bench from Patty Mills and Blake Griffin. It was just a complete performance for the Nets.

He is back up to playing some of the most in the league and that could have long-term ramifications for the team. The guys discuss the development and what the team can do to try and combat the issue. They also talk about how some of the context behind these games has led them to where they are with Durant and James Harden’s run.

Plus, they look into some of the best four-man lineups for the team as well as some other player ratings that are a bit interesting to say the least. And there’s a little Day’Ron Sharpe talk thrown in as well.
