The Cleveland Browns offense cleared for takeoff in 2023 May 31, 2023

Show notes

We chat with The OBR's Jake Burns on the Cleveland Browns offense for 2023, specifically Deshaun Watson. Of course Deshaun's time away from the game doesn't help but every belief should be that he returns to being one of the top Quarterbacks in the NFL.

His wide receiver room is littered with talented players who all differ from each other but all can contribute. Addin Jordan Akens to David Njoku gives you a tight end duo that will cause opposing defenses headaches. Jake feels adding Nuk Hopkins is a no-brainer if they can pull it off.

The Browns running game will change in 2023 with more of the focus on being throwing the ball but it should lead to Nick Chubb becoming a bigger factor as a receiver.

The five most important Cleveland Browns in 2023 #1 Deshaun Watson May 29, 2023

Show notes

The Cleveland Browns have a deep roster but 2023 comes does to Deshaun Watson and his ability to return to his 2020 form. Yes, those numbers may be lofty but the expectations should be very high.

Andrew Berry has added five new wide receivers to the roster the last two off-seasons trying to help the Watson trade hit. All bring different skill sets but can be play-makers with a quarterback the caliber of Watson.

Nuk Hopkins, is an easy name to link to the Browns but the way the room appears to be constructed you would be building the room for one year and not the future. Bringing in Hopkins stusts the growth of Donovan Peoples-Jones and Elijah Moore and perhaps Cedric Tillman. Andrew Berry has been swinging on veterans but this one that appears to be an easy pass.

The five most important Cleveland Browns in 2023 #2 Myles Garrett May 25, 2023

Show notes

We continue with the five most important Cleveland Browns for the 2023 season with Myles Garrett coming in at number two on the list.

Garrett has been everything one could hope for in a former number one overall pick, he is the franchise's all time sack leader and has shown game changing ability from his defensive end position.

Now paired with a defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz who's focus is defensive line, with Dalvin Tomlinson and Za'Darius Smith. This is by far Garrett's best group of running mates in his time in Cleveland.

The Browns defensive line should go from a team liability in '22 to a strength this upcoming fall.

Smith and newly acquired Juan Thornhill have been impressive with the media to this point talking on how their talents can pair with the holdovers to bring a winning season to the land.

The five most important Cleveland Browns in 2023 #3 Denzel Ward May 24, 2023

Show notes

The top 5 Cleveland Browns for 2023 continues as we highlight the number three ranked player, Denzel Ward. Jim Schwartz with Andrew Berry are pairing a pass rushing defensive line that should let Ward have a bounce back year.

Juan Thornhill joins a secondary as savy on the roof play maker with a Super Bowl resume.

Greg Newsome and Martin Emerson should continue to grow.

The new fair-catch kick-off rule, are kick-off's gone forever?

The five most important Cleveland Browns in 2023 #4 Amari Cooper May 23, 2023

Show notes

The top 5 Cleveland Browns for 2023 continues as we highlight the number four ranked player in Amari Cooper. Coop has a fantastic year one in Cleveland playing with a weird quarterback situation. With a full year of Deshaun Watson how much more do we think Amari can give production wise.

Elijah Moore brings a great play-making ability that is different than the Cleveland other wide receivers, there should be a lot of "lay ups" where he gets the ball quickly and lets his abilities do the rest.

Donovan Peoples-Jones had better success with Jacoby Brissett than Watson, that needs to change.

Cedric Tillman brings a size nobody in the room has, so his roster spot is locked but filling out the rest of the room does bring up a small question or two.

The five most important Cleveland Browns in 2023 #5 Dalvin Tomlinson May 22, 2023

Show notes

The Cleveland Browns have five players all at different positions who will ultimately determine this teams success in 2023. We rank these five over this weeks episodes and break down the positional rooms they dome from.

Dalvin Tomlinson is the biggest investment this regime has ever put into the defensive tackle position. His ability against the run and pass game make him the person guy to spend on.

After Tomlinson this room is full of a variety of question marks but they all they their chance to earn a role with new defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz.

There are still free agents who could be brought in and if the group behind Dalvin doesnt' step up roster cutdown weekend could find more options.

Does Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry have one more big move left in him May 15, 2023

Show notes

Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry pulled off a steal of a move for his team this weekend, so now Browns fans what to know is another one coming? It's possible but it feels like the move would be coming free agency.

Shelby Harris and Matt Ioannidis, are two veterans who could fine significant roles with this team. Time will tell if either come to fruition.

The Steelers draft class is more function over style and it just may be what they need to climb back up the ranks in the north.

The Cleveland Browns trade for Za Darius Smith! May 13, 2023

Show notes

Andrew Berry, never done over turning stones trades for veteran defensive end Za'Darius Smith. Smith coming off a ten sack season brings talent, experience, and leadership to Jim Schwartz's defense.

The trade cost the Browns nothing more than an exchange of day 3 picks over the next few seasons, very similar to the Amari Cooper trade, low risk very high reward.

The Browns continue to try to align the best 53 man roster they can believing that they are very strong contenders in loaded AFC conference.

This defensive end room n Cleveland has now become very crowded and very veteran, the young kids will have some work in front of them to see playing time.
