    • Russ’s Drink Corner

    • Rossville Union Rye Barrel Proof

    • Description

    • It began in 1847 with a bold, satisfying taste that would make Indiana the rye capital of the world. For nearly 200 years, Lawrenceburg’s master distillers and blenders have been perfecting the original handcrafted rye blends in one of America’s last Prohibition-era distilleries. Rossville Union is a return to the golden age of rye with an authentic taste that could only come from Whiskey City.

    • Mashbill: Blen of 51% Rye, 45% Corn, 4% Malted barley and 95% Rye, 5% Malted barley whiskies

    • Proof: 112.6 (56.3% ABV)

    • Bill’s Whatever Corner

    • Glendalough Double Barrel Irish Whiskey

    • Description

    • Upon its release, this whiskey won double gold at The World Spirits Competition in San Francisco. It really is an Irish whiskey that will make you think twice about Irish whiskey. A lovely, light and drinkable whiskey, it’s also complex with a depth of flavour beyond its years. Aged twice in barrels from far sides of the world, the flavours are a game of two halves. American oak Bourbon barrels bring sweet honey and smooth vanilla notes, laying down the foundations of the flavours. The Spanish oak Oloroso barrels layer on dried fruit, and nutty flavours. To find the best Oloroso casks, we go off the beaten track to the small Andalusian town of Montilla, home of the famous PX grape. Here we can talk one on one with producers, chose the bodega, the liquid, the time seasoning, and eventually the casks. This gives us more influence on the flavours in our Double Barrel whiskey.

    • Details

    • Mashbill: Single Grain - Barley

    • Proof: 84 (42% ABV)

    • Region: Wicklow, Ireland

    • Color: Amber

    • Distiller’s Nose: Rich with dark fruit, cherry, raisin, fig and Christmas pudding. Floral notes with lemongrass, citrus and a touch of nutmeg

    • Distiller’s Taste: Sweet and smooth, with butterscotch, honey and peppercorn, dried fruit, maraschino cherries and brown sugar.

    • Distiller’s Finish: Ginger spices a touch of almond and earthiness.

    • Price: 38 Euro (700ml)

    • Rating: Very Good (5 of 5)

    • Kilbeggan Single Pot Still

    • Description

    • Kilbeggan Single Pot Still is a glorious tribute to the town and those who kept its whiskey alive, proudly wearing the colour of County Westmeath on its label. It is the second limited release whiskey to be 100% distilled and matured at Ireland’s oldest licensed distillery, and the oldest expression to be released since distillation resumed at Kilbeggan in 2010. Double distilled, once through the oldest working whiskey pot still in the world, Kilbeggan Single Pot Still is a unique mash of malted barley, raw barley, and 2.5% oats that was inspired by historical recipes from the distillery’s heyday in the late-1800s.

This Weekend in Hedonism (Segment 3)

    • Cheryl’s Recipe Corner!

    • Easy Chicken Tortilla Soup

    • Description

    • A tasty soup that warms you up on a cold winter day!

    • Ingredients

    • 1 can (16 oz) refried beans, optional

    • 2 cups usalted chicken broth

    • 1 can (14.5 oz) petite diced tomatoes

    • 2 cups shredded deli rotisserie chicken

    • 1 package (1 oz) taco seasoning mix

    • 1/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

    • 1 cup crushed tortilla chips

    • Directions

    • In 3-quart saucepan, mix beans (optional), broth, tomatoes, chicken and taco seasoning mix. Heat to boiling over medium-high heat. Cover; reduce heat to low. Cook 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to blend flavors. Serve with cheese and tortilla chips.

    • Cheryl’s Mixed Drink Corner

    • Strawberry Margarita

    • Description

    • What better thing to enjoy after your tasty soup?

    • Ingredients

    • 3 ounces (6 tablespoons) tequila*

    • 3 ounces (6 tablespoons) Cointreau

    • 2 ounces (4 tablespoons) fresh lime juice

    • 10 ounces (1 ½ cups) frozen whole strawberries (fresh work too!)

    • 1 tablespoon simple syrup, agave syrup, or maple syrup

    • 1 cup ice

    • Directions (Cocktail)

    • Cut a notch in a lime wedge, then run the lime around the rim of two glasses. Dip the edge of each rim into a plate of salt (or for a festive look, use our Margarita Salt). Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend until fully combined: you can blend until it’s an icy texture, or keep blending for a minute or so until it’s more liquid. Taste and add additional sweetener if desired. Pour into the glasses and serve. Note: Easily doubles for 4 drinks (or triples, based on the size of your blender).
