    • Description

    • Summer calls for cool and refreshing desserts… and this is one of them.

    • Ingredients (Cookie Base)

    • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ sugar cookie mix

    • Butter and egg called for on cookie mix pouch for drop cookies

    • 1/3 cup butter, melted

    • Ingredients (Filling)

    • 2 boxes (3 oz each) Jell-O® orange-flavored gelatin

    • 1/3 cup boiling water

    • 2 boxes (3.4 oz each) Jell-O® vanilla-flavor instant pudding & pie filling mix

    • 2 1/2 cups cold milk

    • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

    • 1 cup powdered sugar

    • 1 container (12 oz) Cool Whip frozen whipped topping, thawed

    • Ingredients (Decoration)

    • 1/2 cup canned mandarin orange segments, drained

    • Directions

    • Heat oven to 375°F. Make and bake drop cookies as directed on pouch. Cool completely, about 30 minutes. In food processor, process half of the cookies to coarse crumbs. Remove to medium bowl. Continue to process remaining cookies to coarse crumbs; add to bowl. Stir in melted butter until well blended. In ungreased 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish, press cookie crumb mixture firmly in bottom. Set aside. In small bowl, place gelatin, and add boiling water; beat with whisk until blended. Stir occasionally about 2 minutes or until mostly dissolved. In medium bowl, beat dry pudding mixes and milk with whisk about 2 minutes or until thick. Stir in dissolved gelatin. Let stand 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. In large bowl, beat cream cheese and powdered sugar with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth, scraping down side of bowl frequently. Beat in 2 cups of the whipped topping. Spread over cookie crust. Pour pudding mixture over cream cheese layer; spread evenly over top. Drop remaining whipped topping by spoonfuls over pudding layer; carefully spread until even. Refrigerate 5 hours. When ready to serve, sprinkle orange segments on top. Cut into 6 rows by 3 rows. Cover and refrigerate any remaining pieces.

    • Cheryl’s Mixed Drink Corner

    • Tequila Sunrise

    • Ingredients

    • 2 ounces (4 tablespoons) tequila

    • 4 ounces (1/2 cup) orange juice

    • 3/4 ounce (1-1/2 tablespoons) grenadine syrup (purchased or homemade)

    • Ice (try our clear ice!)

    • For the garnish: Cocktail cherry, orange slice

    • Directions (Cocktail)

    • Fill a highball glass with ice. Pour in the tequila and orange juice and stir. Pour the grenadine into center of the drink and it will sink to the bottom. Stir gently for sunrise gradient effect. Garnish with an orange slice and cocktail cherry. This drink is sweetly straightforward. If you are a fan of sour cocktails, add a squeeze of lime to add more of a tart flavor. A dash of orange liqueur like Cointreau can give it a little more complexity. You can also make a Tequila Sunset by substituting blackberry brandy for the grenadine. Make the drink with vodka for a Vodka Sunset, or try a Malibu Sunset using Malibu Coconut Rum. Here’s the key to how to make a good tequila sunrise: buy a good tequila! A cocktail is only as good as the alcohol you use. Look for a mid-price range tequila, since the price is typically an indicator of quality. You can use either tequila blanco (“new or not aged) or tequila reposado (aged) in this cocktail recipe. Since it’s a pretty straightforward beachy drink, we went with tequila blanco here. But, it would be even more interesting with tequila reposado: it adds subtle notes of vanilla and oak.

    • Magic Dough!

    • Description

    • This is a 2 ingredient dough (made famous by Weight Watchers YEARS ago) that is super versatile! Use it for your pizza crust, to make bagels, to make Naan, soft pretzels, cinnamon rolls, pop-tarts, biscuits, etc. It goes together super quick, and it has endless possibilities. We recently used it as the base for a BBQ chicken pizza… I got 2 thumbs up from Russ, as he was too busy eating to actually say anything! Check out the show notes for the link to several recipes using it!

    • Ingredients

    • 1 3/4 cups self-rising flour

    • 1 cup Greek

    • Directions

    • Sift your self-rising flour if it is clumpy! In a large mixing bowl, combine your flour with yogurt and mix well. Using your hands, press into the dough and form a ball shape.

    • Raspberry Mojito

    • Description

    • I’m a fan of Mojitos, and this one sounds perfect for summer days!

    • Ingredients

    • 8-10 raspberries

    • 1 lime, chopped into large chunks

    • 2 tsp granulated sugar

    • 2 mint sprigs, leaves picked

    • Ice

    • 4oz white rum

    • Sparkling water, to serve

    • Directions (Cocktail)

    • Divide the raspberries, lime and sugar between two tall glasses and muddle by gently crushing with a muddler or the end of a bar spoon. The fruits should start to release their juices, which will mix with the sugar. Put half the mint leaves in the palm of one of your hands, then clap the other hand on top of the leaves – this bruises them just enough to release their flavour. Drop the bruised mint leaves into one of the glasses, then repeat with the remaining mint, dropping it into the second glass. Add a handful of ice to each glass, followed by the rum. Stir, then top up with sparkling water. Stir briefly until just combined, then serve.

    • Heaven’s Door Straight Bourbon

    • Description

    • Heaven’s Door Straight Bourbon Whiskey is distilled and aged in Tennessee, for a minimum 6 years in new American oak barrels. The sour mash distillation process and non-chill filtered bottling allows this mature whiskey to remain consistent, as well as creating reliable flavor profiles that come from being aged in single story warehouses. The Heaven’s Door Bourbon is distilled and aged from a partner distillery in Tennessee. This Whiskey is a true Bourbon, not a Tennessee Whisky, which means this product did not undergo charcoal mellowing, also known as the Lincoln County Process.

    • One-Pot Ten-Minute Beef and Broccoli

    • Description

    • I admit, I’m all about finding a quick and easy meal… because there are some days that I just don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen cooking a meal. And this is one of those, “Quick and Easy” meals, with an Asian flair. And we love our Asian foods! We’ve not tried this one yet, but it’s on our “to do” list.

    • Ingredients

    • 1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef

    • 1 bag (12 oz) frozen chopped broccoli

    • 1 bunch chopped green onions, greens and whites separated

    • 3 cups cold cooked white rice

    • 1 cup thick teriyaki marinade and sauce

    • Directions

    • In nonstick 5-quart Dutch oven, cook beef with salt to taste over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until brown. Do not drain. Meanwhile, make broccoli as directed on bag. Add whites of green onions to pan with beef, and cook 1 minute. Stir in rice and teriyaki sauce. Cook and stir about 2 minutes or until rice is heated through. Stir in broccoli. Top with green onion tops.

    • Tequila Sunrise

    • Description

    • Russ makes a tasty Tequila Sunrise, so I thought I’d share the recipe for this great summery drink!

    • Ingredients

    • 2 ounces (4 tablespoons) tequila

    • 4 ounces (1/2 cup) orange juice

    • 3/4 ounce (1-1/2 tablespoons) grenadine syrup

    • Ice

    • For the garnish: Cocktail cherry, orange slice

    • Directions

    • Fill a highball glass with ice. Pour in the tequila and orange juice and stir. Pour the grenadine into center of the drink and it will sink to the bottom. Stir gently for sunrise gradient effect. Garnish with an orange slice and cocktail cherry. This drink is sweetly straightforward. Add a squeeze of lime to add more of a tart flavor.

Bradshaw Bourbon is a collaboration between Bradshaw and Silver Screen Bottling Company, which is known for bottling several celebrity liquors. The bourbon is bottled at an ABV of 51.9% which is a nod to his career passing completion percentage. Batch 212 is a reference to his career TD passing total. Aged two years.

Thanks to work on GNOME triple buffering, Intel and Raspberry Pi graphics drivers will now see up to double the frame rate when navigating the desktop. We also see significant improvements when using AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards as well as runtime power management for NVIDIA GPUs. Wayland is now the default display server for most systems, whilst X11 remains the default for those with NVIDIA GPUs.

    • GNOME 42 also brings new power profile options, allowing users to choose between performance and power consumption from the settings screen.

    • As always, Ubuntu comes with a host of other tweaks and updates in addition to these headline features.

    • PulseAudio delivers a number of improvements for Bluetooth headsets, with support for a wider range of devices and battery level reporting.

    • LibreOffice, Thunderbird and Firefox have all been updated to the latest versions. And Firefox now ships as a snap, published by Mozilla.

    • Developers also have access to the latest toolchains for Python, Ruby, Perl, Go, PHP and now Rust. Rust is a new addition for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, supporting memory-safe, systems-level programming.
