    Life’s a Fight

Life’s a Fight is a metaphor for life. It’s a mindset and philosophy that shapes how you approach the challenges in front of you.

This is a low-key, down-to-earth podcast about the ups and downs of life. We’re talking everyday challenges and the big ones, too.

Using my life and experiences as the backbone—Spanish teacher turned UFC fighter, now a professional speaker with a wife and kids—you’ll hear stories, lessons and strategies to help you keep going when you don’t think you can.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed and could use some help fighting your fight, this is for you.

Hosted by former UFC fighter and teacher Charlie “The Spaniard” Brenneman.

*There are more than 2300 episodes of this podcast. Some of the older ones look different and have a different format.

My favorite thing is when different books and learnings combine and connect. In today's AMX, we connect Mr. Rogers' upbringing to our friends Jocko Willinck and Leif Babin and their book The Dichotomy of Leadership. Tune in and connect!

I'd love to help you in your lifelong learning journey. Please interact w/ me on social media and/or visit charliespaniard.com/readinglist for your next book (you'll also be supporting the show!). Use me as your learning resource.

PS We have a special (little 5 y/o) guest appearance on today's show...kind of :)

#202 Interview: Rod Woodson, NFL Hall of Famer Oct 25, 2018
    Show notes

The Spaniard politely disagrees with this week's guest when he says, "I'm just Joe Blow. I never had that mindset that I was different from anybody else. I just played football." Rod Woodson speaks from blue-collar humility, but he was different all right: 17 years in the NFL, including 10 with The Spaniard's beloved Steelers. One Super Bowl ring. Multiple league records. And entry into a little place called the Hall of Fame. He and Spanny talk leadership, learning, consistency and hard, hard work.

A boy and his dogs. Is there anything more pure than that? I'm super excited to journey into this tale of adventure, discovery and wander, and I hope you are, too. PS This one's extra close to my heart, as my best four-legged friend, Doc, was with me for close to 16 years. Sit back and enjoy this step back in time.

Mr. Rogers has been a guiding light in my career for the past few years. Our similarity was first brought to my attention by way of Dread. The piece of Mr. Rogers that I incorporate into my career is my aim to inspire lifelong learning in others so they can share in its power. This new book is tremendous, and I hope you ride along with us!!!

I'd love to engage in book talk. Shoot me a message on social media @charliespaniard. And check out a list of my favorites at charliespaniard.com/readinglist.

    AMX595 The Dichotomy of Leadership 13 Oct 19, 2018
    Show notes

Humility is the most important characteristic of a leader, but too much humility equals passivity, and that's surely not what we're after. Today's message drives home the importance of balancing these two traits. Enjoy!
