The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 345 – Thomas Troward’s Principle of Guidance Mar 16, 2021
    Show notes

Today I’m teaching on Thomas Troward’s Principle of Guidance.

Ancient wisdom says, “With all thy getting, get understanding.” That means the whole purpose of studying anything is to understand. Understanding takes place inside of us. The more we understand the truth about things, the more we can create the success we want on the outside. That’s because what we become on the inside gets reflected on the outside.

Troward explains how we can—and should—trust the guidance that comes from inside of us. By doing so, we can tap into the infinite mind and all the possibility and potential that comes along with it.

    In this episode you’ll learn:

      • Why truth needs to be the basis for everything we do, and it should always come first before anything else
      • Thoughts are things, and we can will our thoughts to become whatever we want
      • The “infinite mind” is a superior intelligence that doesn’t come from any external source—but rather, it comes from the innermost part of your being
      • Why listening to this internal guidance increases your confidence and guarantees your success
      • How our desire is leading us in the direction we want to go—and why the idea of “getting rid of all our desires” is actually misguided and harmful
      • What happens when we focus on problems instead of focusing on what we want to create
      • Why our own personal growth is the fundamental value we should have, first and foremost

When we surrender to the guidance within that is seeking expression without, we have the power to create something greater in our lives.

    The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 344 – Thomas Troward’s Completeness Mar 15, 2021
    Show notes

In today’s episode I’m teaching Thomas Troward’s essay on “completeness.”

From a young age, most of us have heard the message over and over again that there’s something wrong with us, and there’s something wrong with the world.

This idea drives us to believe we’re not whole or complete; so we constantly look outside of ourselves for completeness. Whether it’s looking for the perfect job or career, more money, or other external things, we’re always looking for something to fill a perceived void in us.

Troward suggests a radical and liberating idea—that we’re already complete now. We already have greatness inside of us now. Nothing is lacking in us. All we have to do is look inward, rather than outward, to find all the answers we need in life.

    In this episode you’ll learn:

      • How to build a better concept of yourself—who you are, what you’re capable of doing, and the incredible potential you carry inside of you
      • Why you must apply daily action to change your programming and beliefs (you can’t just think something intellectually and expect to change)
      • Why seeing imperfections all around you is more an indication of the programming that lies within you
      • Why really successful people are often seen as coldhearted—because they have an incredible ability to focus on their greater purpose of why they’re here, while shutting out the drama of the world
      • Why getting involved in drama is actually a way of searching for that ‘completeness’ that’s already inside you

As we begin to see our own completeness, we find that we no longer need to go outside ourselves for anything. The more we focus inward rather than outward, the more we’ll tap into success.

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 343 – Earl Nightingale – The Dean of Personal Development Mar 12, 2021
    Show notes

Today we have a special episode for you as we celebrate what would have been the 100th birthday of Earl Nightingale. He’s considered the Dean of Personal Development, having played a huge role in advancing the personal development industry.

From the time he was a child through his adulthood, Earl was always seeking the true meaning of success —and that would become his life’s purpose. He became one of the greatest minds of his generation and a true expert on the principle of success and what it takes to be successful. I believe he wanted people to really understand the power of their mind. His philosophy was that anyone can reach their highest potential merely through living by one simple message—you become what you think, you reap what you sow, and you must provide service to others whom you meet.

Earl brought the ideas and knowledge of Napoleon Hill, W. Clement Stone, Wallace Wattles, and others to the common person. He was great at taking somewhat esoteric messages and making them accessible so that the masses could really get behind it. To this day, even 100 years after his birth, millions of people continue to seek out Earl Nightingale’s words of wisdom through replays of his work.

Don’t miss today’s episode as BT and I dig into Earl’s life, history, and some of the amazing things he accomplished!

The Successful Mind Podcast – Inside Episode 342 – Let Spirit Lead Mar 09, 2021
    Show notes

In today’s episode, BT and I delve more into the idea of “letting Spirit lead. ”

Many people are miserable, unhappy, and unfulfilled in their life—and yet, they’re afraid to make any changes. The idea of change is so scary or uncomfortable to them, they’d rather just live with their dissatisfaction.

But here’s the problem: life is always changing. I don’t care who you are, where you’re from, or what your background is—life is going to change from one day to the next. Sometimes it’s big or painful changes. Sometimes it’s great changes that we love. But change is the one constant.

Fundamentally, there seems to be something in the human psyche that keeps us locked into doing the same thing. It’s almost like a rigged system. But if you learn to look at life as an adventure, in anticipation of change, you’ll find it much easier to enjoy the process.

    In this episode you’ll learn:

      • The mindset needed to not view every change as a “catastrophe” that brings pain
      • How to listen to that internal voice that’s guiding you on where to go
      • The difference between the voice of fear and the voice of Spirit
      • Why it’s our responsibility as a human being to figure out how to listen to the voice of our higher self
      • The power of moving into acceptance—because there are things in this universe we can’t change
      • Why if your partner or spouse is adapting, but you aren’t, this could affect the connectedness you have, and the things you have in common with them

If you feel like you’ve lost your ability to adapt, this episode is for you. Give it a listen!

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 342 – Let Spirit Lead Mar 08, 2021
    Show notes

Many of the world’s greatest philosophers say that suffering begins in the idea of attachment. Suffering begins when we resist something (usually change). We get attached to a particular way of doing or experiencing things. We can’t let things go, or we can’t “flow” like water through a changing environment.

Instead, we get very rigid, and we resist the change that life naturally brings us. When we get attached to the old way of doing things, we become miserable.

Change is a constant thing in our life. Whether it’s big or small, life is always surprising us with something unexpected. And this can often have huge effects on us. You’ll have to deal with change at some point—and you can either go through it kicking and screaming, or you can actually try to go with the flow and see what the opportunity is behind it.

    In today’s episode, you’ll learn:

      • The 2 ways significant change usually takes place in a person’s life
      • How dissatisfaction with life is often the gateway to creating something better
      • Why looking at the big picture (the God’s eye view) versus the small picture (the bug’s eye view) puts everything into perspective and lets you see the patterns of what’s happening
      • Simple questions you can ask yourself to be able to handle change
      • Why a willingness to be adaptable (and not so rigid) opens the way up for opportunity and possibility that sparks your soul

Whatever’s currently going on in your life, I invite you to get really quiet, tune in, and let Spirit lead you through it.

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 341 – Movers & Shakers – Dave Crenshaw – The Myth of Multitasking Mar 04, 2021
    Show notes

Dave Crenshaw is the author of the bestselling book, The Myth of Multitasking. He specializes in productive leadership, helping individuals and organizations become as productive as they can possibly be. He also is a consultant to Fortune 500 companies.

After being diagnosed with “freaking-off-the-charts ADHD,” Dave went on a journey to learn more about productivity. He created a system to help himself get organized; then he started teaching it to others. That was 20 years ago; today his 30+ online courses on LinkedIn Learning have tens of millions of downloads.

In this episode you’ll learn that:

      • Most people spend less than 25% of their day doing their most valuable activities… and over 75% of their day doing things that are worth less—driving their value down every minute they work
      • Multitasking causes you to make more mistakes, increase your stress levels, and causes tasks to take longer to complete
      • The average person loses 28-35% of their day due to interruptions and the recovery time associated with those interruptions (the equivalent of one work week every year)
      • Multitasking (AKA “switch tasking”) has a negative effect on your relationships, because you make people think they’re unimportant
      • Solving the problem of “attention switches” (otherwise known as “the classic squirrel”) frees up a ton of time
      • Your goal shouldn’t be to make multitasking your superpower—but instead, to make focusing your superpower

Dave also shares a quick exercise you can do to see how much time multitasking is costing you.

If you think multitasking is your superpower, don’t miss today’s episode!

The Successful Mind Podcast – Inside Episode 340 – You Can’t Be a Winner if You’re Not in a Fight Mar 02, 2021
    Show notes

In today’s episode, BT and I go deeper into the ongoing “fight” that everyone is engaged in on a daily basis—the battle to overcome your subconscious mind.

In my Elite Mind program, I watch my clients battle with their subconscious mind every day. It’s nonstop. They’re literally fighting for their life—fighting for the success they desperately want. Some weeks, they win the battle. Other weeks, they get knocked out. Like a fighter getting pummeled, they risk being taken down.

It really is a fight. It’s not a kid’s game. Understanding how to battle your subconscious mind is “Successful Mind 101.”

Many people are teaching a Pollyanna idea that “there’s no battle in life.” Frankly, that’s BS, and they’re doing others a disservice by suggesting that.

    In this episode you’ll learn:

      • Why your subconscious mind tries to confuse you with “problems” that show up in your life
      • How your programming sees anything that goes against it as a threat to your survival
      • Why you shouldn’t let confusion control your mouth; only use your mouth to speak what you want into existence
      • Two starkly different natures that exist in human beings (based on our friends, “the lion and the pig”!)—one creates things and moves life forward; the other is programmed to develop lazy attitudes
      • Why successful people focus on finding solutions to problems
      • How to have peace even when problems show up

By the time you’re done listening to this episode, you’ll be so clear, you’ll be unstoppable.

    The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 340 – You Can’t Be a Winner if You’re Not in a Fight Mar 01, 2021
    Show notes

Everyone wants to be a winner in life. But we can’t actually be a winner if we’re not in a fight.

All of us are all in a fight or battle to be successful in life. Our main battle is to overcome ourselves—the parts of us that need to be reconditioned in order to be successful.

To live our dream, we need to expand our thinking, build new skill sets, and create more engagement in the direction we’re going. All of that requires a battle.

Today’s episode is a lesson on how to do battle with “the enemy. ” The enemy I’m referring to is your subconscious mind. There’s no “power” out in the universe that’s preventing you from getting what you want or that’s against you, trying to make your life miserable. The real enemy is your programmed mind.

    You’ll learn:

      • How the enemy uses five specific weapons to keep you stuck and prevent you from moving forward
      • Five tools you can use to overcome the enemy, win the battle, and create the life you want
      • How to maintain your peace while you’re growing, engaging with the world, and getting better at being successful
      • The “three types of peace” related to God or spirituality
      • The real meaning of faith and how it affects your ability to get the results you want
      • Two characters—the lion and the pig—one of them aggressively goes out and creates the world they want; the other is in either denial or vindictive about their life and they stay stuck (which one are you?)

I believe each person was put here to be something exceptional in their life. We’re here for a reason and a purpose—to live our divine destiny.

There’s a certain sense of peace that comes with knowing everything you do, and everything you experience (even if it’s something painful or that you don’t like) is actually adding to life. That means we can rest in the idea that everything we’re going through is for our own growth.

The Successful Mind Podcast – Episode 339 – The Common Denominator of Success Feb 25, 2021
    Show notes

In today’s episode I’m teaching on Albert E.N. Gray’s speech, “The Common Denominator of Success.”

Most of us were taught that hard work is the secret to success. However, Gray points out that although hard work may be required—it’s not the real secret to success.

Gray says success lies in the fact that successful people “formed the habit of doing things that failures don’t like to do.” The key word here is “habit.” Successful people are in the habit of doing things failures don’t like—and don’t want—to do.

“Men form the habits, and habits form futures. If you do not deliberately form good habits, then unconsciously you will form bad ones.”

If you want to be great, you have to habitually do great things. You have to do the correct things over and over again. Once it’s a habit, we no longer have to think about doing it.

    In this episode you’ll learn:

      • How to make success a habit
      • How we’re born to be a success, yet we’re programmed to be mediocre in life
      • The difference between what mediocre, normal people (or failures) do, and what successful people do
      • Why you’re not getting the results you want
      • The 4 main habits that bring about success business or work
      • Why your “needs” will only push you so far, but your desires will keep pushing you long after your needs are satisfied

Most of us, myself included, never had any instruction on how to discern the character of a friend or anyone we meet in life. We were taught to see people as “nice” or a “jerk”—but this doesn’t mean anything, nor does it tell us about their character.

On the last episode, I shared how there are 3 types of important people who will come into our life: confidants, constituents, and comrades. Understanding the difference between these, and knowing the roles they play in your life, is the foundation for success.

In today’s episode we’ll dive deeper into:

      • Why the character of the people in your life is so important
      • How to know if a person is truly a confidant or not —and why treating a “constituent” like a “confidant” is the cause of so much pain and turmoil in people’s relationships!
      • Discerning a person’s secret motivations—why they’re in a relationship with you, what they’re trying to get from you, or what they’re trying to help you with
      • Knowing how much to share with certain people in your life
      • Getting to know yourself better and finding out if you’re a confidant, constituent, or comrade to yourself

Relationships are so important. Most of us weren’t taught how to properly evaluate relationships, and so we’ve suffered through very challenging issues.

This episode will help you understand why so many things went wrong with certain people in your life… and why so many things went right with certain people.
