In doing this series on Success Principles, I started to think about the people I know personally who embody these principles in their personal and professional lives. One of the first names that came to my mind was my friend and mentor, Bob Burg. Bob is the co-author of bestselling and profoundly influential book, The Go-Giver. He is also a highly sought-after speaker who teaches success principles to people all over the world. LIAM 318 – The Positive Habit with Fiona Brennan Feb 15, 2017
    Show notes

Aristotle said: "We are what we repeatedly do, therefore excellence is not an act, but a habit." We also know that all of our actions are driving by thought, so this variation is equally true: "we are what we repeatedly think!" If we want to be successful, we must think thoughts that cause us to take the actions required for success. Fiona Brennan, a highly respected clinical hypnotherapist, helps her patients develop the habit of thinking positive thoughts. Through years of research and practical experience, she has developed an online, 6-week course called "The Positive Habit." This course has received great praise for its effectiveness in helping people break free from the repetitive cycle of negative thoughts, worry, and anxiety. LIAM 317 – Success Principle: Integrity Feb 13, 2017
    Show notes

Polonius told his son, Laertes: "This above all: to thine ownself be true." By this, he was telling his son that the most important virtue is that of integrity. A recent study of self-made multi-millionaires shows their #1 character trait is integrity. Being true to yourself, being the same core person with the same core values in all settings is a success principle you should endeavor to live by. It is so much more than being honest. Having integrity means being whole. Listen as I explain: Listen on iTunes or Listen to/download this episode here: Love the show? Click here to Tweet a shoutout! LIAM 316 – Success Principle: Gratitude Feb 09, 2017
    Show notes

Cicero wrote: "Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, it is the parent of all others." Napoleon Hill suggested everyone "start each day with an expression of gratitude." If you are speaking with someone how has been successful in life, you will probably hear them say that gratitude is one of their core values and habits that has contributed greatly to their success. For me, gratitude has been the catalyst for my personal transformation and the main reason I discovered and embraced all of the other success principles by which I live. LIAM 315 – Success Principle: Faith Feb 06, 2017
    Show notes

You are going to have to believe this to be true: a foundational success principle is faith! In order to accomplish just about anything, you must exercise a certain amount of faith--a belief that something is true regardless of whether or not you can see it, feel it, or logically explain it. Successful people consistently have faith that what they want will come true, what they need will be supplied, and the people who need to be involved will show up at the right time with the right resources. The more faith we have, the more action we can take to accomplish our goals. Listen as I explain: Listen on iTunes or Listen to/download this episode here: Love the show? LIAM 314 – Success Principle: Purpose, pt. 2 Feb 02, 2017
    Show notes

"Purpose" is the reason, the "why" we want to have, be, or do something. A goal without a strong purpose is a goal we will probably not spend much energy trying to achieve. In this episode, I want to look at "purpose" from another perspective. Many of us have experienced painful, tragic events in our lives. We often struggle with trying to understand the reason it happened--its purpose. Perhaps the greatest ability we have, as human beings, is the ability to think any thought we want to think at any moment in time. Along with that ability comes the gift of being able to decide for ourselves what the purpose of something--or our lives in general--is. I want to help you "restory" your past to assign a more useful purpose to the painful events of life. Listen as I explain: Listen on iTunes or Listen to/download this episode here: Love the show? LIAM 313 – Success Principle: Purpose Jan 30, 2017
    Show notes

So, that thing you just did, did you do it on purpose? I hope so. One of the things successful people consistently do is this: they have a purpose for everything they do! The word "purpose" means: "the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists." Many people are simply going through the motions of life or are simply reacting to situations and other influences without much forethought as to the reason for doing what they do or thinking what they think. You should have a clear purpose, a "why," for all of your goals, all of your activities, and all of your decisions. It's one thing to know what you want. It's another thing to know why you want it, what you will do with it, how it will enhance your life and the lives of others. LIAM 312 – Success Principle: Vision + Desire Jan 25, 2017
    Show notes

Success leaves clues. Studies of the most successful people reveal that they all live and operate according to certain principles. This episode is the first in a series in which I'll talk about these success principles. The first is a combination of two: vision and desire. Successful people have a clear vision of what it is they want to achieve. They see as if it was already real and talk about it like it was the past. Combined with clarity of vision is a very strong desire to create what they see; a strong desire to have, be, or experience the thing they envision. It's one thing want something, and another to see it clearly. Together, however, they create a powerful formula for success! LIAM 311 – Leadership Starts with You! Jan 23, 2017
    Show notes

There's a lot of talk, these days, about leadership. Leaders need to have a clear vision for where the company is going; leaders need to motivate others and create a culture where people can grow and do their best work; and so on... All of these are true, of course. However, what is often overlooked and undervalued, is that leaders must start with themselves. You cannot effectively lead others if you are not, first and foremost, leading yourself. What are you doing to lead yourself? Do you have a vision for your own life outside of work? Do you lead yourself to grow physically, mentally, and spiritually? Your #1 priority must be you! LIAM 310 – Antidepressant Withdrawal with Perzan Irani Jan 19, 2017
    Show notes

Perzan Irani knows how difficult antidepressant withdrawal can be. When he lost his job, in 2008, he started to feel anxious. As the weeks went by, his symptoms got worse, so his doctor put him on an antidepressant. Paxil (paroxetine) is an antidepressant that belongs to group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Paroxetine affects chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced in people with depression, anxiety, or other disorders. Paxil is used to treat depression, including major depressive disorder. Read the full article here: my-antidepressant-info The medication helped and he found a new career. Now that his life was stable, he thought he could stop taking his medication. The process of tapering off antidepressants, however, proved to be much more difficult than he ever imagined. He discovered he was not alone in this painful journey. His story of getting off the drugs and creating his own line of supplements to support people in antidepressant withdrawal is inspiring. His product, CleanVive, is helping people all over the world!
