LIAM 329 – Remove Your Money Thorn with Leisa Peterson Mar 21, 2017
    Show notes

How's your relationship with money? Is it good? Great! Or is it a sore subject, like walking around with a thorn in your foot? We know the pain will go away if you just remove the thorn, but most of us will apply pain-numbing creams, or buy more cushioned shoes before we are willing to take out the tweezers and pull the thorn. I brought back my good friend, Leisa Peterson, to talk about this idea of a money thorn and all of the systems, processes, and behaviors we put in place to maintain the thorn, to medicate the symptoms, rather than dealing with and actually removing the thorn. LIAM 328 – A Winning Start to Your New Family History with Indigo Ocean Mar 19, 2017
    Show notes

We all live by a story we are constantly telling ourselves about our own worth and potential, about the worth and potential of others, and how the world basically works. Much of our personal story is passed down to us from our parents, grandparents, and more distant ancestors. We need to take an honest look at our story to see how much of it is still appropriate to our current lives and whether or not it serves us well. I had a deeply insightful conversation with Indigo Ocean about this topic. She shares some enlightened ideas about how to start a new family history. LIAM 327 – Success Principle: Focus and Being Present Mar 16, 2017
    Show notes

I used to believe that my ability to multitask was a good thing; that I was more productive by doing multiple tasks at the same time. There have been many other things I believed were true that I have since discovered to be false or outright lies! When your mind is divided it is less efficient. When you try to do two things at the same time, you do not do either one as well as you would if you focused on one task at a time. Successful people have discovered this and have abandoned the myth of multitasking. Successful people focus. They focus on one task and one person at a time. LIAM 326 – Success Principle: Create a Morning/Evening Routine Mar 13, 2017
    Show notes

F.M. Alexander wrote: "People do not decide their futures, they decide their habits and their habits decide their futures." What we do every day, the habits in which we engage, have the largest influence on our success or failure in life. These habits can be physical acts or habitual thoughts. The things we do and the things we think about most frequently shape who and what we become. Knowing this, creating the habit of a positive morning and evening routine can build a strong foundation for your ongoing success. LIAM 325 – Success Principle: Exercise Your Body, Mind, and Spirit Mar 09, 2017
    Show notes

Did you know that exercise is vital to your success in any area of life? It is! Without exercise, I could not be successful as a parent, a lover, a writer, a podcaster, or a friend. In order for me to truly be successful at these, I must exercise; I must get stronger; I must be growing. I'm not just talking about exercising my body, however. The body is important, but we must also exercise our mind and spiritual life to have complete success in any area of life. LIAM 324 – Success Principle: Don’t Take Anything Personally Mar 06, 2017
    Show notes

Success happens more easily when you are not stressed out about people or events. The best way to not be stressed out about people or events is to not take anything personally. Therefore, a foundational success principle is "don't take anything personally." This is the 2nd agreement in Don Miguel Ruiz's book, The Four Agreements. What people say or do has nothing to do with you. Once you realize this, you can move through life with amazing emotional freedom, which will yield great success in your life. LIAM 323 – Join Up Dots with David Ralph Mar 01, 2017
    Show notes

When we are in the midst of a current situation or set of circumstance, especially if they are difficult or painful, it may not make sense. We often wonder why this is happening to us right now. It may seem completely random. However, as we shift our perspective from the present moment to see the larger picture of our lives, we often see how the situations and circumstances of our past actually fit together perfectly to bring us to where we are now. I had a fun and insightful conversation about this topic with David Ralph, host of the popular "Join Up Dots" podcast. LIAM 322 – Thank You For Calling Me Fatso with Melissa Kahn Feb 27, 2017
    Show notes

By the time I finished reading an article titled Thank You for Calling Me "Fatso" by Melissa Kahn, I was simultaneously in tears of sadness for the pain she endured and exuberantly proud to be a human being living on the same planet with her. I also knew, immediately, that I would have Melissa be a guest on this podcast to talk about her experience of being bullied because of her weight and, most importantly, how and why she turned her life around to support and encourage others. LIAM 321 – Success Principle: Always Be Learning with Kat Dale Feb 24, 2017
    Show notes

If you are not learning, you are not growing; if you are not growing, you are dying. It's that simple. Successful people are committed to the principle of life-long learning. There is always something I can learn that will add value to my life, teach me a new skill, teach me a new perspective on life, and teach me to be a better human. Kat Dale and I had a wonderful conversation about learning, education, finding our interests, and personal growth. LIAM 320 – Success Principle: E+R=O with Kent Julian Feb 22, 2017
    Show notes

Perhaps the most important success principle that I have learned and applied to my life is the formula E+R=O. I actually learned this principle from Jack Canfield in his book, The Success Principles. Most people, myself included, live with an E=O mindset, which means the events (the things that happen to us) determine our outcomes. If we are happy, it is because good things are happening. If we are sad, angry, lonely, or broke, it is because of events that have caused us to feel that way. This simply isn't true. The truth is it is how we respond to those events that determine our outcomes--how we feel or what quality of life we live. My good friend, Kent Julian, and I had a wonderful conversation about this very topic.
