Strixhaven | Before You Go Aug 27, 2021

Show notes

Strixhaven gave us a lot to work with. And with a couple of releases between us and the wealth of legends that set gave us, with a return to Innistrad around the corner, it's time to take in as much tech from the wizarding school as we can. Join us as Andy drops a veritable deluge of decks from listeners, brewed from Strixhaven and the accompanying Commander 2021. From attacking artifact creatures, to unsung voltrons, to life gain, and of course, spell-slinging, it's all here. Be sure to check in on our Discord server for all the decklists shared in this episode. ------------------- Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/legendarycreature YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/legendarycreaturepodcast Twitter: @legend_creature ------------------- Intro and outro music artists vary each episode, but comes courtesy of the sexy souls of the following artists: Home – https://home96.bandcamp.com/ Protector 101 – https://protector101.bandcamp.com/ Dan Terminus – https://dan-terminus.bandcamp.com/ Silver Richards – https://silverrichards.bandcamp.com/

Guiding New Players into EDH Aug 16, 2021

Show notes

We've been on a bit of a wavelength lately of making sure that we all acknowledge that this game only happens if we have people willing to bring a deck to the table, sit down with us, and play. On that continued note, Andy brings a collection of thoughts from a decade of experience in bringing new players into the game. From teaching them the mechanics of the game, giving them a reason to be excited about Magic, finding something for people to identify with, and cultivating hospitable games, Andy and Kyle are opening up what it has looked like to bring new players fully into the EDH fold. ------------------- Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/legendarycreature YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/legendarycreaturepodcast Twitter: @legend_creature ------------------- Intro and outro music artists vary each episode, but comes courtesy of the sexy souls of the following artists: Home – https://home96.bandcamp.com/ Protector 101 – https://protector101.bandcamp.com/ Dan Terminus – https://dan-terminus.bandcamp.com/ Silver Richards – https://silverrichards.bandcamp.com/

Kykar Gets Put to Pasture Jul 27, 2021

Show notes

Some commanders are so beyond use that pasture isn't a good enough place for them. They need to go to the land that the light doesn't touch, to the shadowlands. They so break the mold and design that they deserve to be ignored. Kykar is ready to cross over into those realms. Andy and Kyle explore all the ways that Kyle has sinned against the playgroup with his various iterations around Kykar. They also discuss what makes Kykar a seeming design faux pas and propose a few ideas that might itch archetype scratches that you foolishly thought Kykar would reach. The Subtle Art of Healthy Play Groups Jun 30, 2021

Show notes

In the most subjective of MTG formats, probably the most subjective task is that of maintaining a healthy and friendly playing environment. Yet it is the most important variable in making sure that we can all continue to play. Drawing from nearly a decade of playing commander, Andy guides a discussion of what has allowed the Legendary Creature – Podcast crew to maintain a group that still enjoys sitting down for a night of commander games. ------------------- Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/legendarycreature YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/legendarycreaturepodcast Twitter: @legend_creature ------------------- Intro and outro music artists vary each episode, but comes courtesy of the sexy souls of the following artists: Home – https://home96.bandcamp.com/ Protector 101 – https://protector101.bandcamp.com/ Dan Terminus – https://dan-terminus.bandcamp.com/ Silver Richards – https://silverrichards.bandcamp.com/

This Game is Too Expensive! Jun 14, 2021

Show notes

You've heard of min-maxing. We're here to help you MID-max your deck. In this episode, we explore how you can find some wiggle room by questioning those "strictly better" staples of the game in order to make room for the juicier cards you want for your deck. We'll take a dive into several of our decklists and show how the staples we have listed can be sacrificed for cheaper and functionally similar cards. As we do so, we'll make room in the budget for either cards we really want to have in our collection or for savings. ------------------- Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/legendarycreature YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/legendarycreaturepodcast Twitter: @legend_creature ------------------- Intro and outro music artists vary each episode, but comes courtesy of the sexy souls of the following artists: Home – https://home96.bandcamp.com/ Protector 101 – https://protector101.bandcamp.com/ Dan Terminus – https://dan-terminus.bandcamp.com/ Silver Richards – https://silverrichards.bandcamp.com/

The Primal Forces of MTG Nature! May 24, 2021

Show notes

We're here to therapize ourselves yet again. Perhaps we're more like the old man yelling at the cloud. But if perchance WotC is listening, just know that you have meddled with the primal forces of nature, and we won't have it! Is that clear? You think you've merely engaged in a business deal. That is not the case. Truthfully, we're here to set up a conversation about color identity, and how it relates to commander. We get impassioned about how design breaks have a lasting legacy that can change the intent of the colors in this eternal format. We also try to make a call for safeguarding the colors for the most popular format. ------------------- Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/legendarycreature YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/legendarycreaturepodcast Twitter: @legend_creature ------------------- Intro and outro music artists vary each episode, but comes courtesy of the sexy souls of the following artists: Home – https://home96.bandcamp.com/ Protector 101 – https://protector101.bandcamp.com/ Dan Terminus – https://dan-terminus.bandcamp.com/ Silver Richards – https://silverrichards.bandcamp.com/

Commander 2021 | Reviewed by Listeners May 03, 2021

Come join us as Tiffany gives voice to all the listener ideas, thoughts, comments, and comedic takes for each legend from Commander 2021. Kyle and Andy will chip in a few thoughts along the way, but we can't comment on their value. If you are interested in getting in on a future review, be sure to join us on Patreon.
