    As the U.S. unveils new sanctions against Russia, Putin test-launches a new intercontinental ballistic missile, and in a televised address, calls it “Food for thought" to those who might threaten his nation. The DOJ appeals a federal ruling striking down the mask mandate for public transportation after a request from the CDC. CNN Chief Legal Analyst Jeffrey Toobin joins to discuss whether the outcome of the appeal will be crucial in preserving the CDC’s authority.
    In a new escalation in the Governor DeSantis Vs Disney feud, the Florida Senate approves a move that would revoke Disney's status as a special district starting next year. DeSantis appears to be angry with Disney's CEO, who condemned the new Florida law that critics describe as the 'Don't say gay’ bill. Plus, Johnny Depp returns to the stand in his $50 million defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard, alleging she instigated fights and violence.

    Ukrainian Commander In Mariupol Appeals To World Leaders For Help Apr 20, 2022

    A Ukrainian Commander in Mariupol calls the situation there critical, saying, “We only have a few days, or even hours left”. That, as sources tell CNN the U.S. is prepping another $800 million weapons package for Ukraine. Andrei Illarionov is the former Chief Economic Adviser to the Kremlin. He joins to discuss Putin’s state of mind, and says a Russian energy embargo could end the war within one month.
    Florida Algebra teacher Octavio Hernandez joins to talk about his State rejecting new math textbooks, citing “prohibited topics”. Plus, the DOJ says it will appeal this week’s federal court ruling voiding the travel mask mandate if the CDC determines it is still necessary, and Ukrainians fight back against the Russian Donbas offensive.

    Zelensky Says World Should be Prepared for Possibility of Nuclear Weapons Apr 16, 2022

    In an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, President Zelensky warned that "all of the countries of the world" should be prepared for the possibility that Putin could use tactical nuclear weapons in his war on Ukraine. This, as heavy shelling takes place along much of the front line in Donetsk, Luhansk, and Kharkiv, and Ukraine’s National Police report that more than 900 bodies of Ukrainian civilians have been discovered in the Kyiv region since the Russian army withdrew.

    Meanwhile, investigators from almost a dozen countries have descended on Ukraine this week to comb bombed-out towns searching for evidence of war crimes. Plus, texts obtained by CNN show how Trump allies Senator Mike Lee and Representative Chip Roy soured on efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

    Russian Warship “Moskva” Sinks in Black Sea Apr 15, 2022
    Show notes

    On day 50 of the war in Ukraine, Russia says its warship “Moskva” has sunk; Ukraine claims it struck the flagship of Russia’s Black Sea fleet with missiles. The crew was forced to abandon the Moskva, giving the Ukrainian military a morale boost and causing embarrassment to Moscow.

    A Ukraine special-operations unit destroyed a bridge near Izium, as Russian forces continue to fight to take the strategic port city of Mariupol. This, as an agreement in principle is drafted for a possible meeting between Putin and Zelensky, showing a glimmer of hope for diplomacy. Plus, trains in Ukraine provide a lifeline for refugees, and the CIA weighs in on the threat of Russia using tactical nuclear weapons.

    Russia Amasses Forces in Eastern Ukraine Apr 14, 2022

    New satellite images released today show hundreds of Russian military vehicles repositioning in Eastern Ukraine. 180,000 people wait to be evacuated from in and around Mariupol, as Biden unveils $800M in new security assistance. This, as The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) finds "clear patterns" of violations of international humanitarian law by Russian forces in Ukraine and details numerous incidents that could constitute war crimes.

    Plus, police arrest shooting suspect Frank James in Manhattan’s East Village after a 24-hour manhunt; James reported his own whereabouts to a tip line. Investigators found disturbing videos on his social media talking about mass shootings. He’s had 9 prior arrests in New York, and 3 in New Jersey.

    Manhunt Underway After Mass Shooting in Brooklyn Subway Apr 13, 2022
    Show notes

    Ten people were shot and at least sixteen suffered injuries in a Brooklyn subway shooting this morning during rush hour. NYPD officials have identified a “person of interest”, but say at this time there is no known motive for the Brooklyn shooting.

    Biden calls Putin’s invasion of Ukraine a “genocide” for the first time, as Putin says today that peace talks have reached a “dead end”, making it clear he has no intention of pulling back from his military campaign. The Pentagon warns that Russia could use chemical weapons, as Ukraine investigates over 6,000 cases of Russian war crimes. Plus, fighting continues in Mariupol, US military veterans train Ukrainian soldiers, and citizens of small city Bashtanka fight back.

    Ukrainian Authorities Prepare For Russian Reinforcements in Donbas Apr 12, 2022

    Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warns that “ten’s of thousands” of Russian troops will launch full-scale combat actions in the east, but says, “we’re ready”.

    Intense bombardments over the weekend left dozens dead or wounded as civilians continued to flee along treacherous evacuation routes. Newly released satellite images showed an eight-mile-long convoy of Russian armored vehicles and trucks with towed artillery moving east of Kharkiv, the nation’s second-largest city. Weeks of relentless Russian bombardment have left "tens of thousands of dead" in the port city of Mariupol.

    Ukrainian Civilians Killed By Russian Missiles During Evacuation Apr 09, 2022

    A Russian missile strike on a train station used as an evacuation hub in the Eastern city of Kramatorsk, Ukraine, kills at least 50 people and leaves more than 100 injured. Russia blames Ukraine for the attack, saying it did it to its own people. But the U.S. assesses it was a Russian short-range ballistic missile fired from a Russian position, inside Ukraine.
    CNN learns Donald Trump Jr. texted White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows ideas for overturning the 2020 Election on the 5th of November, before the race was called, stating, "We have multiple paths. We control them all". Plus, Moscow forces the closure of Amnesty International and Human Right Watch Offices in Russia, CNN goes inside Chernobyl after Russians withdraw, and the U.S. assists Ukraine In receiving the ‘S-300 Air Defense System’ from Slovakia.

    U.N. Suspends Russia From Human Rights Council Apr 08, 2022

    The world takes further action to isolate Russia following its invasion of Ukraine, with the U.N. voting to suspend Putin's regime from the Human Rights Council. Ukrainian officials say major fighting is underway on the shifting battlefield as Russian forces target Donbas, and a top U.S. General warns the Ukraine war will be a "long slog".
