National Unplugging Day With Joe Boyle Mar 06, 2020
    Show notes

March 6th is National Day of Unplugging. This holiday consists of a 24-hour period from sundown to sundown, to unplug, unwind, relax and do things other than using today's technology, electronics, and social media. A timely new study explores just how difficult that may be for today’s workers, knowing how integral the mobile phone has become to how we work and get things done.
On March 6, Joe Boyle, CEO for TRUCE Software, will share interesting facts from a recent survey of 1,500 adults who bring a phone to work with them. We all know that phones can be distracting at times, but the extent to which your co-workers/employees are engaged with them throughout the day is surprising. Joe visits with Mark Alyn to unplug workers and families for a day!

Gut Health With Sherry Torkos Mar 05, 2020
    Show notes

If everything we eat passes through our gut, it makes sense to develop some best practices when it comes to our bellies and ditch the habits that are causing commotion. In the gut, there are hundreds of species of bacteria; some are friendly, while others are not. Good digestion relies on friendly gut bacteria to destroy harmful bacteria and other microorganisms, while producing vitamin K, folate and short-chain fatty acids. If the gut flora contains too many harmful bacteria and not enough friendly bacteria, an imbalance can occur known as dysbiosis, which has been linked to insulin resistance, weight gain, inflammation, obesity, allergies, brain fog, inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer.
Sherry Torkos, a holistic pharmacist and author of more than a dozen books on natural health and healing says you will know if you have dysbiosis if on most days of the week you feel bloated, have gas, bad breath, diarrhea, constipation or upset stomach. She says if you are experiencing any of these symptoms it could be an indicator that your microbiome is out of whack. Torkos will share with your audience three healthy belly habits to have and five belly busters to break (talking points include: what and when to eat **probiotic and prebiotic foods and supplements**, best gut exercises and stress reduction techniques and most harmful substances for the gut). Sherry visits with Mark Alyn.

Signia World Hearing Day Mar 03, 2020
    Show notes

World Hearing Day highlights the many unexpected ways our hearing impacts virtually every aspect of our lives, at every age. For example, did you know that:
    · People who suffer from hearing loss tend to have a higher likelihood of lower income and unemployment, according the NCBI.
    · People with hearing loss are more likely to be diagnosed with dementia, according to researchers at Duke University, Johns Hopkins University and Brandeis University.
    · Teens are particularly susceptible to “decibel damage.” Noise-induced hearing loss was mostly seen in the likes of factory workers or military, but now it is a common thread among all ages and backgrounds. Based on their lifestyle, teenagers are especially susceptible to early and cumulative hearing damage.
    · Untreated hearing loss can contribute to behaviors that cause isolation and loneliness, and in turn, FOMO aka Fear of Missing Out. This can lead to fatigue, stress, and sleep issues.
    · Approximately 38 million Americans suffer from compromised hearing, and most adults wait an average of 5-7 years before seeking help for their hearing loss. Eric Branda, Au.D, Ph.D shares insights on hearing with Mark Alyn.
