Allergies During Worst Season Ever Could Cause Heart Disease May 12, 2021
    Show notes

Stephen Sinatra, MD, cardiologist and best-selling author of nearly two dozen books on natural health and healing says while spring is the time when people start to talk about allergies a new study suggests that temperature increases lead to more pollen production, which can be a major irritant for those with respiratory issues like asthma, and in short, 2021 could be the longest, most intense allergy season yet. For people with major lung issues like asthma, allergens like pollen exposure can be a major threat to their physical health and ability to breathe. Research shows that pollen exposure weakens your immune system’s ability to fight off respiratory illnesses. Allergies affecting the lungs could eventually lead to heart disease. Studies show that intermittent inflammation created by allergies could result in the thickening of artery walls, which could then lead to heart disease. Dr. Sinatra returns to Late Night Health to update Mark Alyn..

Reverse Your Sedentary Lifestyle May 12, 2021
    Show notes

Sherry Torkos, B.Sc.Phm., R.Ph., holistic pharmacist, former fitness instructor and author of, “The GI Made Simple: The Proven Way To Lose Weight, Boost Energy & Cut Your Risk of Disease,” says we need to reframe our approach to exercise and eating in order to counter our shelter-at-home physiques. The pandemic has certainly caused a lot of change in our lifestyles, including a big one: Not moving as much and indulging in at-home comfort foods. Working from home, limiting travel and simply not having very many places to go or people to see has made weight management a much harder hurdle to clear even for the relatively healthy person.
Sherry Torkos will share with us four ways to reverse this sedentary trend in our current “slower paced” lifestyle. Sherry returns to Late Night Health to visit with Mark Alyn.

Real Housewife of Orange County - Gretchen Rossi May 12, 2021
    Show notes

Choking is the fourth leading cause of accidental death: the LifeVac device has saved over 122 lives and counting and that is why Gretchen Rossi stands to share this message to the world.
When parenting young children, the fear of a choking incident is a daily threat and a very real one, as one child dies every five days from choking in the US alone. Sadly, abdominal thrusts work in only approximately 50% of cases prior to EMS arrival. The easy-to-use and proven LifeVac device is a patented choking first-aid device that travels easily wherever you go. The best gift you can give mom this Mother’s Day is the gift of less worry and the security in knowing she can be there for her child in their greatest time of need. Gretchen visits with Mark Alyn.

A New Way To Age Gracefully! Apr 17, 2021
    Show notes

Greg Macpherson, pharmacist and author of, “Harnessing the Nine Hallmarks of Aging” (March 2021) says COVID-19 will change a lot of things, especially how and where we age in the future. The pandemic has shown a spotlight on many problems from how fragile our immune systems can be to how unsafe long-term healthcare facilities are, where 40% of COVID-19 deaths have taken place. This being the case, many end-of-life experts believe nursing homes will soon go out of business and the future of our longevity is truly our own responsibility and perhaps even something we will need to learn to do in our own home. Greg visits with Mark Alyn on this edition of Late Night Health.

Honey on the Page Apr 07, 2021
    Show notes

Wonder how best to pass down and preserve their Jewish identity in an increasingly secularized culture.
Miriam Udel, a rabbi, mother, professor of Yiddish language and Literature at Emory University, and the winner of the 2017 National Jewish Book Award, introduces modern-day families to translated versions of the cherished fairy tales, fables, folklore, and poems originally written in Yiddish over a century ago.
In HONEY ON THE PAGE: A Treasury of Yiddish Children’s Literature (NYU Press), Miriam Udel presents an unprecedented collection of nearly 50 traditional Yiddish stories and rhymes for youngsters translated into English. As Udel shares, she became interested in reclaiming this largely lost body of literature through the convergence of two pathways: her work as a Yiddish language teacher and her vocation as a mother. Combing through hundreds of anthologies and free-standing storybooks, as well as several years’ worth of periodicals, she sought authentic pieces of Yiddish prose and verse that would at once represent their times and places of origin and engage and resonate with today’s young readers.
Miriam visits with Mark Alyn on this special edition of Late Night Health
