Brian McGowan is a former Wall Street management consultant. He is currently writing a book entitled, “Just Another Day of Hell in Paradise,” which chronicles the epic journey of his wife’s illness. Due to a rare liver condition that left her in a state not unlike the boy in the bubble, she was unable to win the battle, and died on a beach in Hawaii in 2015.
Servet Hasan is a best-selling author, public speaker, and radio host, among other media endeavors. She has published several books for Llewellyn Worldwide Publishers, and her latest, “Growing Old Sucks, But It Doesn’t Have To,” which she co-authored with Mark Alyn.

Having lost her husband over two decades ago, and Brian a recent widow, the two struck up a conversation that moved beyond business into their own personal struggles. Each conveyed how difficult it was to find intimacy again, or frankly, whether either of them dared to take that leap of love in the first place.
Servet and Brian chat with Mark Alyn about love on this episode of Late Night Health.

Although NJ Labs got its start in dairy testing, it eventually became more recognized and built up its reputation as an innovator in the industry with a history of pioneering standardized analytical testing methods and control systems. Under new ownership, the laboratory dropped “Dairy” from its name in the late 1970s as it expanded into new industries, including pharmaceutical, environmental and water testing services.
“NJ Labs wasn’t always focused on the pharmaceutical and dietary supplement industry,” said Sandra Lee, CEO of NJ Labs. “We started as a dairy lab that serviced the ice cream and milk industries with truck drivers that drove around New Jersey and New York to collect samples. However, when I joined in 2013, we were moving more towards dietary supplements because the FDA had begun to step in and regulate the industry more, creating an opportunity for NJ Labs to expand.” Sandra Lee joins Mark Alyn for a conversation about testing for safety.
