    Kindred Conversations

We are two young moms that are committed to loving motherhood because we believe that it is something to be enjoyed, not just endured. We want to cherish the sweet moments and be present during the hard ones while we grow alongside our children. As we have entered motherhood, we have found so much comfort and value in conversations with women in all different stages of motherhood and we are here to share those conversations so we can grow together and embrace all of the joy modern motherhood brings.

All marriages go through highs and lows but we believe it’s possible and much more enjoyable if you can find time to keep things fun and flirty. 047: Finding Contentment Oct 15, 2021
    Show notes

Submission Episode! The fall season seems to bring with it a sense of self reflection. Instead of the constant (fun) chaos and noise of summer, we start to look inward to fill our cups. Into our homes and into our hearts. If we aren’t practiced in appreciating what is before us, this transition inward can feel a bit empty. Rather than chasing contentment with the next thing, the next phase, or the next finale, we would like to argue that contentment is often found by staying put and being present. And although this principle is an important lesson for life, it feels particularly poignant at this time. You gave us all the best tips on how you are finding contentment these days and we couldn’t be more grateful to share them with all our listeners! 045: Creating a Family Culture- (Increasing Shared Meaning from Dr. John Gottman) Oct 01, 2021
    Show notes

This episode was inspired by the first of four "pillars of shared meaning" from The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work by Dr. John Gottman. The pillar is titled "rituals of connection" and is all about creating consistent opportunities that all parties depend on and enjoy to enhance your feeling of "togetherness".

We both took a moment to reflect on our personal family cultures and rituals and also the opportunities where we could enhance the feeling of connection or create a more meaningful tradition. We encourage everyone who listens to take a few minutes to make your own lists as well and to incorporate at least one new tradition or ritual into your family culture.

If you enjoyed this episode, please leave us a review on your podcast app and share it on you instagram stories! If you would like to join in the conversation, you can follow @kindred_conversations, @brittanywestoverfrye, and @paris.tews.

044: Managing Toddler Tantrums & Thoughts on "No Bad Kids" by Janet Lansbury Sep 24, 2021
    Show notes

We have quoted and referenced our parenting hero (Janet Lansbury) many times. So, when a very difficult episode topic was requested (i.e. toddler tantrums) we felt it most appropriate to learn from the best rather than pretend we have any idea what we are doing! Janet's book No Bad Kids: Toddler Discipline Without Shame is a quick read that we have both referenced a number of times throughout raising toddlers and proves to be a fantastic resource time and time again.

In this episode we introduce a new segment, discussing top-of-mind topics (from current favorite products to more meaningful ideas). Then we transition into our favorite points from No Bad Kids about managing toddler tantrums. We hope this episode proves to be helpful or at least provides a sense of camaraderie as we navigate this motherhood thing together! You've got this!

As always, if you enjoyed this episode we appreciate the shares, subscriptions, and reviews from your podcast app. You can follow along @kindred_conversations, @brittanywestoverfrye, and @paris.tews on instagram.
