Donald Trump's lawyers keep getting indicted. Two of his former lawyers, Boris Epshteyn and Jenna Ellis just pleaded not guilty to nine felony charges in Arizona state court involving, in substance, crimes they are alleged to have committed to try to help Donald Trump steal the 2020 presidential election.

Glenn answers the question: why did Jenna Ellis plead not guilty when she already pleaded guilty in the Georgia state RICO case and agreed to cooperate against Trump and the other co-conspirators?

Glenn also takes on the larger question of what will happen to the six unindicted co-conspirators in Trump's federal prosecution in DC, once the Supreme Court decides the absolute presidential immunity question and returns the case to Judge Tanya Chutkan for further proceedings.

New York High Court REJECTS Trump's Attack on Gag Order Jun 20, 2024

Every single judge (trial court judges, appellate court judges, state court judges, and federal court judges) who has ruled on the various gag orders placed on defendant Donald Trump, has ruled that the orders were appropriate, lawful, and constitutional. Indeed, New York's highest court has refused to take up Trump's appeal on the gag order issue. But alas, Trump-appointed Judge Aileen Cannon is about to step to the plate and take a swing at the narrow gag order Special Counsel Jack Smith has requested in Trump's Florida prosecution. On another important front, a retired judge who served on the federal bench for 27 years, just gave an interview to NPR and opined that Judge Cannon has shown "favoritism" toward defendant Trump and antagonism toward the prosecutors in the case.

Convicted Felon Donald Trump is Not Fit to Lead Our Troops as Commander in Chief Jun 19, 2024

As a recent USA Today article makes clear: "As a convicted felon, Trump isn't fit to lead America's military as Commander in Chief". Convicted felons are generally not permitted to serve in the armed forces of the United States. It would be an absurdity, not to mention dangerous to the safety of our troops, if a convicted felon were allowed to be the Commander in Chief of America's armed forces. As someone who served more than six years on active duty with the US Army, as all soldiers, Glenn was required to abide by the laws, rules, and well-defined standards of conduct. Glenn reviews just a few of those standards as articulated in the Amy Officer's Guide to see how Trumps stacks up.

Here we go again. We've seen this exact nightmare movie before: Donald Trump signaling that he won't accept an election loss and refusing to rule out violence to get whatever he wants. It's like democracy is sitting there - stuck on the tracks and Trump is the dangerous, out-of-control train that refuses to stop. There is a way to derail the Trump train before we see a repeat of the January 6th, 2021 insurrection at the Capitol. But we need to work together.

Trump Returns to the Scene of the Crime: the US Capitol Jun 17, 2024

It defies comprehension that the person who incited an attack on the United States Capitol building and everyone who was in it on January 6, 2021, performing their constitutional duty of certifying the results of a presidential election, would have the temerity to return to the scene of his crime in hopes that he could regain the reigns of governmental power.

What's worse, congressional Republicans bowed-down to Trump, in their cowardly and unpatriotic determination to get themselves reelected. One of the questions that will haunt our nation for generations to come is: how can there only be two congressional Republicans - Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger - who care more about the health and viability of American democracy than they care about their own reelection prospects? Glenn also asks - when will these OTHER congressional criminals get charged for their part in the January 6th conspiracy?

Donald Trump is claiming that the Department of Justice is being weaponized against Republicans. Glenn says the trial and guilty verdict of Hunter Biden proves otherwise. Reaction to Hunter Biden's Conviction vs. Trump's Conviction Jun 13, 2024

Last week, Donald Trump was convicted of 34 felony crimes that he committed to try to gain unfair advantage in a presidential election. Throughout the pre-trial proceedings and the trial itself, Trump and his lackeys in Congress endlessly yammered about the trial being a witch hunt. Trump threatened and endangered everyone who was involved in the endeavor of holding him accountable for his crimes: witnesses, jurors, prosecutors and judges.

In stark contrast to Trump's reckless and dangerous behavior, the Hunter Biden case involved NO threats or intimidation of witnesses, jurors, prosecutors or judges, no cries of which hunt, no efforts to undermine the public's perception of the legitimacy of the criminal justice system.

These differences tell you all you need to know about who respects the rule of law and who does not.

Trump Meets with New York Probation Officer Jun 12, 2024

Donald Trump sat for an interview with a New York probation officer who will prepare a pre-sentencing report to be used by Judge Juan Merchan in connection with Trump's sentencing.

However, if we care about preserving free and fair American elections and deterring others from committing the crimes Trump committed - falsifying business records to gain unfair advantage in a presidential election - than Judge Merchan MUST sentence Trump to a period of incarceration rather than just probation. Glenn discusses the accepted principles of sentencing in our criminal just system and why a term of incarceration is necessary for Trump's crimes.

Trump Vows Revenge Against His Enemies Jun 11, 2024

The contrast between Donald Trump and President Joe Biden as far as the rule-of-law could not be more stark. As a HuffPost headline announces, "Trump Says Revenge 'Can Be Justified' In Latest Threat To Political Enemies." Contrary to Trump, President Biden has chosen the rule of law by declaring he will not pardon his son Hunter Biden in the event of a conviction, but rather, will accept and respect the jury's verdict. There is one important decision President Biden made early in his presidency: to leave in place a Republican, Trump-appointed US Attorney, David Weiss, who was conducting the investigation of his son Hunter. This shows the true measure of the man - President Biden did not want to be perceived as interfering with an ongoing investigation of his son, even though, as president, he had every right to nominate his preferred US Attorney for Delaware.

Federal Judge Orders Steve Bannon to Report to Prison to Serve his Sentence Jun 10, 2024

Accountability has finally come for Steve Bannon for his two contempt of Congress convictions. A jury convicted Bannon nearly two years ago, but Trump-appointed Judge Carl Nichols allowed Bannon to remain free pending appeal, contrary to the presumption in the law that a sentence is to be served while a defendant appeals his or her conviction. After a federal appeals court rejected Bannon's appeal and affirmed this conviction, Judge Nichols reversed course and ordered Bannon to report to the Federal Bureau of Prisons by July 1, 2024, to begin serving his 4-month sentence.
