Show notes

Chris and Owen take on the final installment of Nolan's beloved Dark Knight Trilogy, in which Batman finally realizes he's a rich asshole and can sit on the couch for 8 years if he damn well pleases. Surely there was a better way to write this...

Ep. 11 - Elysium (2013) Jan 09, 2018

Show notes

Chris and Owen attempt to spice up the generic sci-fi dystopia of Elysium by inserting techno vampires and benevolent anarchists. Trust us, it's better this way.

Elysium is written and directed by Neill Blomkamp and stars Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, and Sharlto Copley, the best thing to come out of South Africa since old vine Chenin Blanc.

Show notes

Sensing a disturbance in the Force, Chris and Owen take on the much-beloved-but-actually-not-that-great Star Wars Episode 6, a film built around such enthralling concepts as absentee parenting and Luke Skywalker's metadata.

The Force Awakens is directed by J.J. Abrams, written by Lawrence Kasdan, J.J. Abrams, and Michael Arndt, and stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaacs, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill for a split second. CLIFF HANGER!

Ep. 08 - Alien 3 (1992) Dec 14, 2017

Show notes

In podcast space, everyone can hear you scream as Chris and Owen delve into the much mehhhh-ligned trilogy-capper Alien 3. Was there a better way, or was it simply too much to ask for lightning to strike thrice?

Alien 3 is directed by David Fincher, written by David Giler, Walter Hill, and Larry Ferguson, and stars Sigourney Weaver, Charles Dance, Charles S. Dutton, and a whole prison's worth of British actors you recognize from other stuff but don't know their names.

Ep. 06 - The Postman (1997) Nov 28, 2017

Show notes

Chris and Owen decide it's time to fix America, starting with Kevin Costner's epic post-apocalyptic fail The Postman. Is there a film worth fighting for in there, or was this just a foolish indulgence in esoteric nostalgia that basically five people will enjoy? TUNE IN TO FIND OUT!

The Postman is directed by Kevin Costner, adapted from David Brin's novel by Eric Roth and Brian Helgeland, and stars Kevin Costner, Will Patton, Olivia Williams, and a sword-wielding donkey.

Ep. 05 - 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) Nov 20, 2017

Chris and Owen knock on the door of 10 Cloverfield Lane in an attempt to be good neighbors. Perhaps a little redecorating might spruce up the place? Or maybe it's time to consider a full remodel?

BONUS - Blade Runner 2049 Impressions Nov 14, 2017

Show notes

Dive into this thin and svelt BONUS EPISODE as Chris and Owen explore their opinions of Blade Runner 2049. Can a sequel made 35 years after the original survive on Ryan Gosling's sexy anti-charisma alone? Or was it foolish to have asked Harrison Ford to fly over in his helicopter in the first place?

Blade Runner 2049 is directed by Denis Villeneuve, written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, and stars (in addition to the two dudes I made fun of above) Robin Wright, Sylvia Hoeks, Ana de Armas, and Jared Leto, who hopefully decided not to send his cast mates dead rats and used condoms this time.
