And when the divorce is final? The podcast continues to serve as a roadmap for building your next chapter. Learn how to close out the financial and legal loose ends—such as QDROs, life insurance, beneficiary changes, and estate updates—while beginning to design a life aligned with your values, goals, and inner peace. Episodes cover healing from betrayal trauma, understanding your emotional patterns, rediscovering your identity, and navigating the complexities of post-divorce dating and parenting.

Healthy Romantic Relationships: How to Find and Keep Love: A Look at Attachment Styles Oct 14, 2022
    Show notes

Welcome back to Healthy Romantic Relationships! Today we dive into Attachment Theory and how it can help us Find and Keep Love based on the Science of Adult Attachment

My desire is that you will emerge from today's conversation understanding that each of us behaves in relationship in one of three distinct ways, anxiously attached, avoidant attached or securely attached. So what does that mean?

Today's guests explain the difference in attachment styles, the interplay that occurs when you and your partner have different styles and how that plays out in love and conflict. It is our hope that you will be able to identify your own style and that of those you are in relationship with so that you can either find a compatible partner or improve your current relationship.

A little about our guests…Drs. Kimberly Murray and Gregory Seibert are licensed marriage and family therapists with over 20 years combined clinical and research experience in the world of relationships. They share these experiences on their podcast entitled Relationships Inside Out where they dive into topics such as sex, conflict, happiness, and family dynamics.

It was such a great time recording with you today! We truly hope that we can get together again and do some deeper dives. Voices of Celebration: One Dad Finds the Silver Lining in Divorce Oct 12, 2022
    Show notes

Kevin is a deeply dedicated family man, primary earner with a high pressure career and two young girls that he adores. When he was facing divorce, he reached out for both emotional and practical support.

Kevin struggled with his wife's changing behavior as she pulled away from her primary care taker role and re-engaged in her career as a stewardess taking her away from her girls and the family for days at a time.

Kevin was struggling with frustration and unbelief as he took on more of the primary parent role and tried to keep a level head as they began divorce negotiations.

Family was always his primary value and he had worked hard to provide a good home, schools and lifestyle. He feared what people in his small community would think and how the dissolution of his marriage would affect each family member in the social circles they had built. He was, of course, concerned about the financial toll divorce would take as well.

Keven found a surprising silver lining as he began to balance work and home life differently, leaned into his dad role even more and found grace and mercy for his soon to be ex. Tune in as he shares his struggles and lessons.

JBD Team Talks: When Your Spouse Shows Up Like A Kid Oct 07, 2022
    Show notes

How do you handle coparenting when your spouse (or soon to be ex) is behaving more like a kid? There may be underlying issues like substance use, neurodiversity or they just may be (much) less responsible than you wish they were.

How do you navigate things like shared custody and lifestyle decisions for your kids, when they just aren't in the same place?

Karen & Diane challenge our listeners to explore their part in the dynamic, and discuss the fine line between having compassion and caretaking (or even co-dependency!) They also will provide some concrete tools to make solid decisions from a place of discernment rather than from fear.
