KAMEHAHA, BADDIES! Love Dragon Ball, the anime? Well, sucks to suck, because this is the literal epitome of white-washing squished into 100 minutes. Goku's white, there's no Krillin or Vegeta, and a man-sized great ape looks like a werewolf. This week, Christian and Alejandro take a deep dive into the live-action, anime-inspired trash film that is Dragonball Evolution. Sharmaarke Purcell returns to help Christian teach Alejandro the legends of the Z. As Alejandro’s first step into the lore of Dragon balls and Z’s and Saiyans, he is still not sure if he loves or hates the anime because of this movie. Christian and Sharmaarke hate the following, and Alejandro loved the following: EVERYTHING. Blatant disrespect, inter-dimensional travel, bottles of scotch, and plumbers from Brooklyn... No I’m not talking about Christian’s birthday parties, I’m talking about the 1993 masterpiece of Super Mario Bros. Apparently this film is fraught with anachronisms and has little to nothing to do with the beloved video game franchise. It does however have a TON of plumbing. And zero jumping, no one eats a single shell, or size growing altering mushrooms. Christian is strapped to a chair and forced to watch Alejandro’s favorite video game movie, the same movie that makes Christian physically ill.
