We had a little bit more room on this episode. I want to share a song by Shannon Heaton. She focuses on the stories of others. So I thought she deserved a shout out for her incredible songs.

"Cruel Salt Sea" is a great story ballad about a woman who makes a bad decision—and then uses her wits to get out of trouble! It's from her album Tell You in Earnest.

Check out "The C-Word", an episode of the Irish Music Stories where Marc Gunn is a guest.

Greetings my friends. I'm traveling right now. So today starts four weeks of Guest Hosts on the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast. Each of these shows will be different from my usual format. And I think you're gonna love the different styles.

John Wilmott is the host of this week's podcast. I first met John on MP3.com in 2000. He was doing an amazing job promoting Celtic music. In 2008, he was the tour guide for the Brobdingnagian Bards 2nd Tour of Ireland.

John Wilmott is a fantastic storyteller with a love of Irish spirituality. He now runs Carrowcrory Cottage & Labyrinth in Ballinafad, Co. Sligo where he leads a variety of spiritual retreats in Ireland.

Most of the tracks in this week's show are not mentioned during the broadcast. So if you want to find out who was played, please visit the shownotes at CelticMusicPodcast.com. All of the songs are time stamped to make it easy for you to find out who was played.

Jeffree St.John emailed: "Thank You! Love the show, I'm a stay at home dad and usually listen to it while I'm cooking or cleaning, dancing with my three year old or just wishing I could take a break. Lived in N Ireland as a young lad back in the early 80's, and listening to the show reminds me of that part of my childhood. Plan on supporting the show. More later. Gotta run now the youngest is waking up. Keep up the great work."

James commented on the website: "I am cruising thru Cavan, Ireland on Google Earth while sitting at work doing anything but work. My mother discovered that our family is from that area and were flax farmers back in the day. I have been listening to your podcast for over a year, but now it calls me home even more! Thank you for all the work you do to bring the podcast to us daydreamers."

One of my main goals in creating this podcast was to help Celtic bands make new fans and sell more albums. But the business is changing. So I created a Top Irish & Celtic Music playlist on Spotify to reflect that change. Every couple o'weeks I update the playlist with your favorite songs and tunes featured in the latest episode. And of course, I will also compile your favorite music into the Celtic Top 20, featuring the most-popular songs of 2018. Check out the playlist. Then vote in the Celtic Top 20 to help these bands make new fans.

Do you have a quick and easy way to listen to the podcast? Yes. The show is available in every podcatcher. But we also have our own Irish & Celtic Music Podcast app. And it's free! Visit our shop to download the app today.

We kicked off the show with Jed Marum's tune "Calla's Waltz". That tune inspired the CD of the same name. The last CD, in fact, of Jed Marum. I was saddened last week when I learned that Jed passed away on May 2. He was 66 years old.

Jed's music has been a big part of this podcast. He first showed up in show #13. But he quickly became an essential part of the show. He even allowed me to share some of his CDs, in their entirety, on the podcast. #42 featured Lonestar Stout. #91 featured Soul of a Wanderer.

My first big experience with Jed Marum was at the Texas Scottish Festival in 2011. I shared a stage with him and Hugh Morrison other musicians. I'm not a super outgoing guy. But Jed approached me and made me feel like he did with everyone, like one of the family.

He was kind and generous person. So today, I'm gonna highlight his music. I'll share of the music of others as well. But it's mostly about Jed. His passing is a great loss to the Celtic community. I want to celebrate his life with music.

If you don't yet have the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast app, you're missing out. This is probably the easiest way to to listen to the show. Well, unless you're Patron of the Podcast. Download your free podcast app from our website.

Kitty emailed: "A few years ago, you had a song on the podcast (from an Irish-american band) called The First Ones Drinking and the Last Ones Standing. That was the refrain if not the title. The song was hilarious. Is it available for download? I cannot remember the name of the band. Thanks!"

Laurie Fisher of Carolina Ceili emailed: "I'm listening while prepping for a waltz dance I'm putting on this evening in a lovely ballroom in Asheville, NC. I've been turned on to some fine music and bands thru your podcast. I especially appreciate the homage to trees and Arbor Day. May I suggest 'Bonny Portmore', which I've heard on your podcast before. 'Tis a song about regret for cutting down a beautiful tree."

Joseph Earl-Ridley emailed a picture: "You always sound so pleased to hear from your listeners so I thought I'd send a message to let you know how much I've been enjoying your podcast. I only started listening on Easter Sunday so the latest Arbour Day episode was my sixth. I attach a photo that I took this morning whilst listening out walking my goats, high in the mountains of Portugal! Keep up the good work."
