On a business trip to the San Francisco Bay Area, I rented a car from Hertz and within an hour had an 'incident' when a pine-cone fell and landed in the windshield... Destroying the windshield and rendering the car unsafe to drive. I made 4 phone calls to 4 different locations and each representative I spoke with insisted that they were not able to help me and that I needed to call someone else. This 'pass the buck' mentality is rampant in businesses and is a sure-fire way to leave customers with a bad taste in their mouth and kill their chances of repeat customers. So what is the 'correct' way to handle this kind of situation? ...Or any customer service situation, for that matter? With compassion, kindness and by taking ownership of the situation to be sure that your customers feel appreciated and taken care of. Upon returning the car, I was able to get in touch with the manager of this location to explain my experience... He was frustrated to hear about my situation and how poorly the other representatives of the company took care of my needs. His concern and assistance was appreciated after days of having to borrow a car from a family member to 'get' what I ultimately paid for from Hertz. So in your business... It is vitally important for you to ask yourself... "Am I offering excellent customer service, every time? It does not matter whether you are selling a $17 ebook, a $1000 coaching session or anything in-between. So I got called out... And it makes sense. You know, it is rare in this day of 'internet marketing' for someone to just simply put out content without an opt-in, or a sales pitch at the end. Likewise it is uncommon for someone to just be willing to take a half hour to sit down, talk and help, without following up with a pitch for consulting or coaching. And after helping out someone I met while at a business event I was speaking at... He came up to me the next day and called me out. "Miles" he said... "What is your end game here?" And he was curious why I was so willing to help when every other marketer in the world wanted to get something from him first. That is a great question and it relates directly to this channel... See, I've been behind the scenes, griding out this Internet Marketing game and building my online business for years... Part of me wants to get out from behind the curtain a bit more and let my ideas, techniques and strategies be known. Could say it is a bit of an ego move... Sure. Eventually I want to compile my ideas into a book that people can use as a guidebook to building a business online. But I have all these ideas and this 'stuff' bouncing around in my head... So I realized I had to just start. Just start getting the ideas out. Start getting comfortable on camera... Start letting me be me... In front of a camera so you and thousands of people like you can understand what it takes to build a business online. With the right systems and focus you are able to grow a business more quickly through paid traffic sources and with simple to use web based tools that allow you get your marketing funnel created fast. Your challenge will come in the fact that many marketers will want to 'sell you' on tools, information and systems that may in fact set you back. This will only happen if you don't have the right mindset and you don't understand the simple truth that there are only 3 components you need to figure out in order to succeed in your online business. This video is all about starting a business with no money. If you are looking for the list of tools I used to build my business online starting with under $100, go http://milesbeckler.com/recommended-resources/ This is exactly the situation I was in when I started my business. I had nearly $50,000 in student loan debt and I had been out of work. I sold my vehicle and moved back in with my parents and borrowed theirs... Not my proudest moment. But out of this challenge came a burning desire to make this work, once and for all. So I hustled and hustled and hustled. I got a full time job that required me to commute for over 2 hours per day... And when I got home I worked another 4-6 hours every night. I worked every weekend for at least 8 hours per day... Sometimes 12 - 16 hours. I barely had enough money to afford a hosting package and I had no idea how to install wordpress, a theme or anything to do with web development or internet marketing. I didn't care... I was committed. I tell you this story above because you may need to know, for real... That I literally started with nothing but an idea and a burning desire. I scrounged up $100 for my first web hosting package and domain name and dug in... From that, my lean startup was formed and now it supports my wife and I to live the life of our dreams. I'm 100% serious when I say you can do this... I don't care about your past, your history or the story you've been telling yourself about 'why it is different for you'... Its not. You gotta dig deep... You MUST figure out "Why" you will overcome any and all obstacles to figure it out once and for all. That, my friend... Is the secret to guaranteeing your success online.
