    Film Reviews

I’ll See You In HELL!! A Podcast about movies that kick ass and take names!!!

Two mediocre white guys, recall and review classic movies of the past and present. Try to imagine a conversation you might have with a 90s era video store clerk about what you should watch tonight. We WILL tackle films that won’t often be discussed as Oscar worthy but are always considered entertaining. We will argue, agree and attempt to mimic accents of the most classic one liners and movie tropes. Come prepared to laugh and it is ALWAYS a good idea to listen after you have seen the film and not before.

    Troy (2004) - "Is there no one else?!" - (Episode 96) Jul 29, 2026
    Show notes

Nathan and Ollie set sail for the shores of Troy to dig into Wolfgang Petersen's 2004 sword-and-sandals epic. They break down Brad Pitt's brooding Achilles, Eric Bana's honor-bound Hector, and that infamous wooden horse, weighing where the film soars, where it stumbles, and how much liberty it takes with Homer.

They also give their verdict on Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, having caught the summer's biggest cinematic event on the big screen. Shot entirely on IMAX 70mm film with a reported $250 million budget and starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, it's Nolan's most ambitious project yet. The guys share their honest impressions and debate how it stacks up against Troy as Hollywood's latest trip into Greek myth.

    War Games (1983) - "How about a nice game of chess?" - (Episode 95) Jul 23, 2026
    Show notes

Nathan and Ollie brought in Phil for this one to tackle the movie that made every kid in 1983 want a modem. WarGames gave us Matthew Broderick committing a truly staggering number of federal crimes, a supercomputer named Joshua that just wants to play, and one of the great "oh no" moments in movie history. We get into whether the hacking actually holds up, the case for Dabney Coleman as the real villain, and how a film about nuclear annihilation somehow stayed this much fun. Best bit of trivia: Reagan watched this movie and it genuinely spooked the White House into taking computer security seriously. Enjoy!!

    Speed (1994) - "Pop Quiz Hot Shot" - (Episode 94) May 25, 2026
    Show notes

Nathan and I revisit the 1994 action classic Speed, the film that turned a city bus into one of cinema’s great pressure cookers. We unpack what makes Jan de Bont’s debut still feel so propulsive, revisit the electric chemistry between Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, and consider why this impeccably engineered blockbuster remains one of the defining action films of the decade. Join us as we put Speed back under the microscope — no brakes, no detours.

    Airplane (1980) - "Stewardess!!, I speak Jive" - (Episode 93) Feb 02, 2026

Nathan and Ollie covered this early 80s classic as a special request from one of our good friends. We discuss how amazing it is that this movie packs in more jokes into every scene than just about any other comedy. One of the best bits of trivia on this movie is that ONLY ONE airline purchased the rights to show this movie on their flights.

Con Air (1997) - "Put... the bunny... back... in the box." (Episode 89) May 09, 2025
    Show notes

The "I Will See You in Hell" podcast reviewed Con Air (1997), an action film about a hijacked prisoner transport plane. The hosts recalled their initial enjoyment, praising the action, comedy, characters, and Bubba's presence, while criticizing Cage's accent and the Vegas ending. They discussed potential winners of "The Bill Paxton Award" for memorable supporting actors and whether Con Air was career-defining for the main cast (likely only for Chappelle). An AI-generated sequel synopsis, Con Air 2: Skyjacked Justice, involves Poe retaking a hijacked plane of cybercriminals. Trivia mentioned Stallone/Russell declining Poe, the film's dedication to a deceased effects artist, Vegas filming at the Sands, marshals' lack of endorsement, Malkovich turning down Air Force One, the film shifting Malkovich to criminal roles, low-flying plane concerns, and the Oscar/Razzie-nominated song.

Napoleon Dynamite (2004) - "Do the chickens have large talons?" (Episode 88) Feb 26, 2025
    Show notes

Ollie and Nathan thoroughly enjoyed revisiting this early 2000's classic. Ollie share's stories of a recent screening where he got to participate in a Q&A with the actual cast from the film.

    Leon The Professional (1994) - "SEND EVERYONE!!!!" (Episode 87) Jan 27, 2025
    Show notes

Nathan and Ollie have danced around covering this amazing, but controversial, film for years. The time finally came to discuss it. Both Nathan and Ollie decided to watch the director's cut in hopes of it having LESS of the awkward and MASSIVELY inappropriate story line. Unfortunately, the opposite was true.

The film is still remarkable and worth watching and discussing. Let us know what you think.
