Episode 257: Disgraceful ESPN Jul 14, 2023

Show notes

If you want an example of what's wrong with this country, you'd be hard pressed to find a better example than ESPN. During their annual awards show this week they gave the Arthur Ashe Courage award to The US Women's Soccer team for their equal pay pursuit. ESPN then aired a video of former host and now FOX News host Will Cain from 2019. The only problem was ESPN edited the video and left out most of the things that Cain said about this topic as I play back his comments from 2019 on ESPN. Disgraceful! I then read an excerpt from Phil Mushnick's recent column in the NY Post talking about the injustice of ESPN's firing of tennis commentator Doug Adler. I had Doug on Episode 27 and play part of the interview I had with him. The message was quite simple. People in this country continue to turn their heads and remain silent about things that matter. Why isn't there more outrage towards ESPN for deliberately smearing Will Cain in front of a sellout crowd and national TV audience? Enjoy the episode!

Grant's Rant: 7-14-23 Jets With "Hard" Landing Jul 14, 2023

Show notes

The NFL has assigned the Jets to appear on this year's Hard Knocks series on HBO. Unfortunately, the Jets head coach and QB aren't too thrilled about it. Robert Saleh and Aaron Rodgers aren't fans of them being in the building. Deal with it!

Grant's Rant: 7-13-23 Alvin Kamara Jul 13, 2023

Show notes

Must be nice to be wealthy1 saints running back Alvin Kamara pleased no contest to a misdemeanor charge stemming from a fight the night before the Pro Bowl in Vegas in 2022. Kamara was also facing a felony charge, but that has been dropped to his plea deal. The NFL needs to suspend Kamara for s significant period of time in my opinion.

Grant's Rant: 7-11-23 Bob Huggins=Embarrassment Jul 11, 2023

Show notes

There are some things you just can't make up. Former WVU basketball coach Bob Huggins wants his job back. Yup, the man who used a gay slur twice and demeaned the Catholic church back in March and then was arrested for DUI last month says he didn't actually resign following his arrest. Ok Bob!

Episode 256: A Mess at Northwestern! Jul 11, 2023

Show notes

On today's episode I discuss yesterday's firing on longtime Northwestern Football Coach Pat Fitgerald. Fitzgerald was fired after 11 former and current players brought hazing allegations to the university hierarchy. I start the episode by playing the breaking news from ABC 7 News in Chicago. We also hear from former college and NFL QB Danny Kanell who did not hold back on his thoughts regarding the firing. Is this a case of panicking by the University, or are these allegations true and regardless of whether Fitgerald was aware or not, he still is culpable as the coach? Fitgerald released a statement last night and reaffirmed the investigation's finding that he was unaware of any hazing taking place. You better believe a big lawsuit is coming and it is only a matter of time before more facts come to light involving these allegations with the football program at Northwestern!
