Episode 20: Suzyn Waldman shares her challenges and successes on her way to becoming a New York Yankee brodacaster. Dec 11, 2020

Show notes

I don't get easily impressed but today's interview with Suzyn Waldman left me wanting to talk more, learn more, hear more great stories from an incredible sportscaster. But more importantly, one incredible woman. She shares the relationships she's had with many of baseball's greats as she was growing up a Boston Red Sox fan. Making the transition to becoming one of the voices of the New York Yankees is a wonderful story of persistence, patience, perseverance and grit but what's even more inspiring, if you will, is her pursuit of a role that was traditionally relegated to men. This is a remarkable woman who is, without a doubt, one of the leaders in changing the face of sports broadcasting and opening the door for more women to succeed in a male dominated arena. Her stories are entertaining, enlightening and in some cases, difficult to hear. I cannot wait to get your feedback as you join us for the conversation. And to be honest, I can't wait to listen to it from the other side of the microphone.

Grant's Rant: 12-11-20 The NBA needs to take immediate action. Mr. Silver are you listening? Dec 11, 2020

Show notes

This whole NBA situation coming into the beginning of the season is really getting ridiculous. First James Harden of the Houston Rockets acting like a 2 year old and now Kyrie Irving declining to speak with the press. How about thinking about the fans who are starving for engagement? Who want to hear from their stars? Who have lost their jobs and need sports as an escape? Who are locked down in their homes and would do anything to see their favorite teams and players on the court? So what's happening? Players are acting like babies and not realizing it may cost them, their teams and the league if it doesn't get turned around. It's time for some leadership Adam Silver. What are you going to do about it?

Grant's Rant: 12-10-20 Odell Beckham Jr, you're not in New York anymore. Dec 10, 2020

Show notes

I really think this comes as a surprise. He seems to still want to talk about the New York Giants and rant about his departure and the way the team is playing but he seems to have forgotten that was 2 years ago! C'mon Odell. You're in Cleveland now and maybe when you're playing again, you can help the team out. But it doesn't seem they're hurting without you either. So I think it's time to stop with the nonsense about New York and pay attention to how you're going to eventually help the Browns. I'll talk about that and more in today's rant.

Grant's Rant: 11-9-20 James Harden is getting under my skin. Dec 09, 2020

Show notes

All right, I know it seems like I'm out of my mind on this Harden thing because I am! A $40 million dollar paycheck next year and he's got an attitude with the new coach, the team, the city, what? WHAT IS IT JAMES??? People are out of work, they're looking for good stories, positive stories from their sports stars and this guy is acting like a whiney baby. Look, his mother, business partner and agent is chiming in now. Oh c'mon. He's the one responsible for not having a ring. He's had his chances. I'll refresh your memory in todays rant...

Grant's Rant: 12-8-20 James Harden does it again. What will the Houston Rockets do? Dec 08, 2020

Show notes

I know, I just talked about this a couple of weeks back but this is disgraceful. James Harden of the Houston Rockets, superstar NBA figure, has decided to not participate with team practices until he's ready. If at all. If he doesn't get traded away. This Sunday he blew off team practice to attend a birthday party. Unmasked. And that is something in itself to be ashamed of. So what are the Rockets going to do about good ol' James? Seems they have a different set of rules for Harden then they do the rest of the team. This is the kind of attitude the really fires me up. You'll hear it all in today's rant.

Episode 19: Sam Smith, author of The Jordan Rules, shares some great Michael Jordan stories from his sports writing career. Dec 08, 2020

Show notes

If you saw "The Last Dance", if you're a Chicago Bulls fan from the late 80's early 90's, or just simply a Michael Jordan fan, you're going to love my conversation with Sam Smith. Not only does he share some wonderful stories about his years covering the Chicago Bulls as a sports writer for the Chicago Tribune, but he also has some incredibly revealing stories about the team and more specifically, of course, Michael Jordan. Some will surprise you, some will not, but what he talks with me about really gives you a picture of the team and more importantly the one player that changed the face of basketball forever. As if that's not enough, we'll talk a bit about some of today's players in comparison and we'll hear how Sam feels about the comparison between Michael Jordan and his contemporary, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers. That line alone has to get your attention! I think you're going to enjoy listening to today's show as much as I did talking with Sam, who now is a part of http://Bulls.com. Please be sure to give me some feedback. I look forward to hearing from you.

Grant's Rant: 12-7-20 PATHETIC! That's right. The New York Jets are Pathetic. Dec 07, 2020

Show notes

I don't recall ever seeing an NFL team so awful, so embarrassing to the players that have previously worn the uniform, so embarrassing to the city they represent as the New York Jets. And don't give the Las Vegas Raiders any credit for it either. They looked equally as bad. My comments in today's rant.

Episode 18: Grant's Potpourri on Sports, the players, the teams and broadcasting. Dec 04, 2020

Show notes

Jalen Rose, Katie Couric, Cancel Culture are my openers today. I'm also excited to be able to get into a lot of questions that you've sent in. Lots of Kings questions have been asked about the likes of Harry Giles and Chris Webber. My opinions on coaching, on players on trades and a lot more from questions you've asked. And yes, I'll be including some commentary on Michael Malone and his journey to the Denver Nuggets.

Grant's Rant: 12-4-20 Kirk Herbstreit's comments about University of Michigan? Wow. Dec 04, 2020

Show notes

I like Kirk Herbstreit for the most part but I also have to agree with Warde Manuel University of Michigan's AD. It was the statement of a "fool". And Kirk did play at Ohio State so I think there could have been a little more to it all. At least he walked it back and apologized. I'll talk about that as I see it in today's rant.

Grant's Rant: 12-3-20 NBA fans don't hold your breath. Dec 03, 2020

Show notes

I've said it before and I'm going to say it again. The NBA is going to release the first-half of the season tomorrow and I hope it's in pencil. Think about it. Where are the Sacramento Kings, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors going to play. If the San Francisco 49er's can't play at home outside, is the Governor really going to let the basketball guys play... indoors? What will the NFL say about that? Interesting right? I like the way the NHL is playing its' cards. Hear what I have to say about it in today's rant. If you like what you heard, give me a thumbs up, subscribe and share. Thanks for listening!
