Episode 22: Let's talk NBA shall we? Dec 18, 2020

So I want to talk a little bit about what's buzzing in the NBA. Maybe they're losing a little control. Look at Harden of the Houston Rockets. ESPN did a story this week and it basically said what I've been ranting about with Harden. And there's the Greek Freak Supermax deal. I'll get into a little more detail than I touched on in the rant yesterday. And then there's The Athletic's ranking of team ownership. Guess who came in dead last? The Sacramento King's Vivek Ranadive. Worst owner in the NBA. What's the constant with lower ranked ownership? Losing teams. Hiring the right people and letting them do their jobs is what generally leads to winning teams. This is true in all sports, not just basketball. So we'll talk a little about that and then it's a big crowd question today. I'm going to get to answer a lot of the questions that have been coming in. Yours may be one of them. Grant's Rant 12-17-20: Giannis Supermax Contract...of course he signed! Dec 17, 2020

OK, so everyone is all about Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Greek Freak. Why? We're talking $228 million dollars over 5 years with an additional $50M kicker in the fifth year for his salary, that's why. Good for Milwaukee. Good for smaller markets to see. Great for Giannis but who on earth would not have taken that deal? So let's just say the average family earns $50K annually. Wait, it's easier to explain this than for me to type it all out so listen to today's rant and you'll see where I'm going with it all. Then you'll completely understand why there was no other option but to stay in Milwaukee. Just wait until the fans see the Milwaukee Bucks ticket prices next year.

Grant's Rant: 12-16-20 It's 2020 so why should the NFL make any sense? Dec 16, 2020

So Tom Brady of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wants to go out and play a round of golf with Bruce Ahrens. NFL says NO!!! You could jeopardize the NFL season. And that's where it's got to be a 2020 thing. You can sweat, you can bleed, you can hug each other and exchange bodily fluids on the field or in practice during the week but DO NOT GO PLAY GOLF OUTSIDE. Oh c'mon now. And then there's the San Francisco 49rs. Let's all celebrate a defensive play in the end-zone. So what if we're losing, let's all look like idiots on the field and put on a show. Hear how I really feel about this nonsense in today's rant. Yes sir. It's 2020.

That's right. What is it with him? What's so special to make him a $100 million dollar coach? I've said it before and I'll say it again, he's not that great and his team shows it. The Las Vegas Raiders have not shown one bit of consistency, they've fallen apart at various times for various reasons and there's no excuse for it. Oh, except for maybe the coaching. So what is it I'm missing Raiders fans? Really. Let me know. I don't get it.

Episode 21: Steve Sands of NBC Golf talks courses and players from his 20+ years of covering the sport. Dec 15, 2020

Today's show is a little different in that it's not often as a Sportcaster you can actually talk about "playing" the sport your talking about. Right? I mean, I can't go tell you what's it like to play in Wrigley Field or on the floor at Boston Garden or even in Sacramento at Golden One Center. You can be a super fan and get really close to the action but really, that's it. You're not going to go out there and play the sport the way the pros do it. But golf is different. You can play Pebble or Augusta or St. Andrews. You can experience the same course the pros play. You could actually even play the course with a pro and thanks to handicapping, hold your own. Steve Sands has not only covered the greatest golfers of the last 20 years, and yes, we'll talk about Tiger Woods, but he's also played the same courses. So we're going to have some fun talking golf today. We'll talk about players, we'll talk about courses and we'll talk about the future of the sport as technology has found it's way to alter play. And maybe not in a great way. But you'll have to listen to hear what Steve has to say about that. If you like the sport, you'll love the conversation today. Join us.

Grant's Rant: 12-14-20 Harry Giles III has a little rant of his own. Dec 14, 2020

Well, surely it's a little early to tell if the Sacramento Kings and Monte McNair would have like to have seen Harry Giles still in Sacramento but Harry now has a chip on his shoulder and something to prove. And if he can continue his play like he did the last two games against the Kings, not only are the Portland Trailblazers going to be happy about, it will be yet another loss for the Kings and one I ranted about when they made the trade. Harry had his own little rant after the game last night as he went social with how he feels but here's the deal, yeah, 37 points and 27 rebounds is good, but it's still pre-season. Let's get into the season and let Harry speak with action, not words. It's still too early to tell. That and more on today's rant.
