Grant's Rant: 2-18-21 Utah Jazz at 23-5 and I'm hearing about everybody but. Feb 18, 2021

Show notes

So the best record and point differential in the NBA does not mean you get noticed. Maybe that's a good thing. Yeah, everyone wants to talk about the Brooklyn Nets and James Harden or it's all about the Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James. It's almost anybody BUT the Utah Jazz. Maybe it's a good thing they're under the radar... for now. They deserve the respect and we'll see what they end up doing as the season progresses. I'll explain more in today's rant.

Grant's Rant: 2-17-21 The NBA All Star Game is going on no matter ... what? Feb 17, 2021

Show notes

Seriously? This is a disaster waiting to happen. Players like LeBron James and De'Aaron Fox have come out and said this is stupid. The mayor of Atlanta has said no partying, no events, nothing but televised activities. Stay home. Yet the league wants to put all the players in jeopardy, force them into lockdown which they DO NOT WANT and then attempt to have the events around the game come off as normal? They've already got to reschedule 30+ games and counting. C'mon already. What's wrong with these people? More on today's rant.

Grant's Rant: 2-16-21 Who is Lorraine Grohs and why does she want an apology from Tom Brady??? Feb 16, 2021

Show notes

This is just too much. I mean there's cancel culture and then there's just plain ignorance. Lorraine Grohs, daughter of the Silversmith that crafted the Lombardi Trophy is twisted out of her mind expecting Tom Brady to apologize for tossing the trophy from boat to boat during a boat parade celebration for the Super Bowl victors. Yeah, this is beyond reasonable and I'll share some reasons why in today's rant. You have just got to be kidding me, Lorraine. Really?

Episode 39: Who is the greatest athlete of all time in team sports? Nope, not Tom Brady. Feb 16, 2021

Show notes

You can agree or disagree with me on this but I can give you my argument and you'll have to agree the athlete I pick is certainly deserving. I will tell you who it isn't. It's not Tom Brady, it's not Michael Jordan, it's not Bill Russell. No, it's not LeBron James either. This is a good conversation for us to have. So let's do it. I've got plenty of points to make and I'm happy to share what I know. I'll give you my pick in the first ten minutes, I promise, but let me make my case. And let me know what you think by leaving your comments and your pick and why. I'm anxious to hear what you have to say.

Grant's Rant: 2-15-21 The Sacramento Kings got no "dog". Feb 15, 2021

Show notes

What is up with this team? Win 7 drop three. Defense, no defense. Shoot threes, miss threes and where the heck is Buddy? When is the last time he had a good game shooting threes? Really, talk to me here because I'm seeing a relapse to last year. Can't get it together. Can't play tough. Pushed around by lesser teams. I mean, really now, Orlando Magic and theMemphis Grizzlies throw you around like rag dolls? Where's the fight? Where's the "dog", guys? "Soft" isn't gonna cut it in this league, not in the NBA. I want to hear what you think. Leave a comment, hit me up on twitter or comment on my YouTube video rant. Are we on the same page?

Episode 38: How a kid from Clovis named Mike Lamb went on to support NFL players with "Hall of Fame Health". Feb 12, 2021

Show notes

If you're from Sacramento this is a name you'll recognize as Mike Lamb was my co-host for several years. Not only is he a dear friend but he's also got some great stories and he's doing some incredible work. Our conversation today is not only about his time playing ball at USC but his relationship with Oakland Raiders Al Davis, the players that came from that era and his current endeavors to bring awareness to the mental health aspect of the game. His stories will bring a different perspective of the sport that we both love and his passion now with his involvement in "Hall of Fame Health" that works to support players with health issues as a result of football related injuries. Head trauma and concussion protocols have and will continue to change sports in the future. We have a candid discussion today about a variety of things that I think you'll find entertaining, informative and, in some ways, helpful as you may be considering sports for you children. I hope you enjoy the show as much as I enjoyed the conversation.

Grant's Rant: 2-12-21 Mark Cuban, another arrogant billionaire breaking tradition. Feb 12, 2021

Show notes

So Mark Cuban makes a decision against the NBA ruling to play the national anthem. Really Mark? Business is that good that you want to alienate a portion of your fan base? You may be worth billions, (yes, billions folks) but the average Mavericks fan is in a whole lot different position than you. And you choose to thumb your nose at the national anthem in spite of what the league expects. If I'm not mistaken, you are a franchisee and if the league expects franchisees play the national anthem, you likely had best play it. It's not your decision to make. Ask your fans in Texas how they feel about it and let them decide. Better yet, abide by the agreement you signed when you were fortunate enough to have been awarded the privilege of being an NBA owner. Enough is enough of the arrogance of billionaires.

Grant's Rant: 2-11-21 Do you know what Tom Brady said to Tyrann Mathieu during the Super Bowl? Feb 11, 2021

Show notes

If you're paying any attention to social media regarding Tom Brady having words with Tyrann Mathieu during the Superbowl, you'll know what I'm talking about. Apparently, it was something so offensive that Tyrann refuses to say what was said other than that he couldn't repeat it and Tom Brady made an apology on social media. Problem is, we don't really know what it was that was said. Did the league get involved and worried it was bad enough it could taint the NFL anointed one? Was Tyrann asked not to repeat it? Nobody seems to be talking and there's a reason for that. What was it? We should know.
