Episode 152: Arco Arena Memories Part 2 Mar 18, 2022

Show notes

On this episode I give you my fondest memories of Arco Arena which opened in 1988. The first event I witnessed in that arena was the 1988 Ring magazine fight of the year. Tony Lopez beat Rocky Lockridge for his first world title. It was as good of an atmosphere that I've ever experienced at a sporting event. Opening night for the Kings was one of my favorite moments as well. I can't remember much about the game, but it was my second NBA telecast and I was in awe of the evening! In 1996 the Kings played their first ever playoff game at Arco Arena. The Kings had won game 2 in Seattle and the ovation the fans gave the Kings when they took the floor is my favorite Arco Arena memory. I've never seen anything like it. I also discuss April14, 2011 when I broke down on camera thinking it was the last game the Kings would play in Sacramento. Obviously, the last game ever played in that building in 2016 was very special as well. I was blessed to be a part of the history of Arco Arena and I hope you enjoy this podcast!

Grant's Rant: 3-18-22 Calipari Overrated! Mar 18, 2022

Show notes

Can we please stop talking about what a great coach John Calipari is? 2 seed Kentucky was upset by #15 St Peters in the first round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament yesterday. Calipari has only one championship at Kentucky, 2012 when he had Anthony Davis. Calipari is a great recruiter, but not a great coach!

Grant's Rant: 3-17-22 Kevin Durant Is Mr Sensitive Mar 17, 2022

Show notes

How about Kevin Durant at the Barclay's Center last night? A fan yelled, " hey Kevin, you got to take this game over". Durant responds, " you got to shut the F up and sit down". What a bad look for Durant, the Nets and the NBA. The fan did nothing wrong. He was trying to encourage his team. Durant should be ashamed of himself!

Grant's Rant: 3-16-22 NYC and Their Idiotic Mandates Mar 16, 2022

Show notes

We know Kyrie Irving of the Nets can't play at home games and the same will be true of unvaccinated players for the Yankees and Mets. I mean you wouldn't want an unvaccinated player outdoors in the sunshine playing baseball right? Seriously, how stupid is this? How bad does NYC look with their idiotic mandates. Ridiculous!

Grant's Rant: 3-15-22 Can't Win For Losing Mar 15, 2022

Show notes

Last night the Kings upset the Bulls and now have a record of 25-45. This team can't seem to win when they need to, and can't lose when they need to. At this point please don't screw up your draft position. To Coach Alvin gentry's credit and the players on the court they are trying to win, but shouldn't management step in and say hey let's start playing the youngsters more? Why screw up the season now? The best chance for the Kings to become a playoff team is by acquiring a good players in the draft. The difference of one spot can be huge!
